I'm having trouble finding much information about the new "rescue this book" feature and the rationale behind it. I guess the Amazon data feed is being dropped and books that currently come only through that feed may disappear from the site.
I also understand that the KDP feed is not in place yet, making a lot of e-books look like they need rescuing, when they actually will be fine once the feed is in place. I can tell you that the rescue message is freaking out a lot of authors who currently publish only on KDP. There's a big discussion going on (with much Goodreads bashing) on the KindleBoards forum.
Was this just a mistake in timing? It seems crazy to have rolled out the rescue program *before* you had the new feeds in place.
Amazon; I should have expected to find them holding the API leash. I recognized their foul stench when I was brought on board. The more they tighten their grip, the more book systems will slip through their fingers.

Or am I missing something here?
