SOLVED. Small child dressed in a red winter coat--illustrated picture book turned short animation [s]

I remember watching the short animation for this story all the time when I was little--I believe it was originally a children's book or poem of some sort, but I never caught its title.

A little boy(?) was sent out in his red coat (with a pointed hood, I think) and the illustrations focused on footprints he was making in the snow. I believe he got lost somewhere along the way and somehow made it back home, welcomed with a warm bath (although this part may have just come from my imagination). Sorry--that's all I've got. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!
