OK - I've downloaded a "free" book which is no longer free. I usually check but missed this. When I've bought something by mistake before, I've contacted amazon CS but I've heard that you can now cancel an order online somewhere. Can anyone give me some pointers please. I've looked at the order itself, and manage my kindle, but can't find a link for refunds...

Thanks in advance.

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Seriously?! The millions of emails I sent actually worked?

I think I may have single handedly been responsible for making them so fed up with dealing with me they had to do it HAHA.

I'll go have a gander.

Just done it! Fantastic - thanks. Much better than sending emails! So simple really, but I was looking in the wrong places before.

Please let us know if it works, Karen.

You're a star Elle.

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments This will make me feel less sorry and pathetic when I need to send begging emails about how I'm terribly stupid and bought a book I meant to send a sample of instead >_
And I'm glad it's so easy! Yay for Amazon!

After a couple of glasses of nice red wine I bought instead of sampling a book which cost £9! I was pretty quick with my email to amazon then - but I didn't mention the wine! I tend to buy from the pc much more often than I do on the kindle.

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I have never bought from the Kindle, but my Father who doesn't even know how to work a mobile phone managed to purchase 6 books on the Kindle one day when I let him *LOOK* at it. Idiot.

Anyway, I have a bad *too quick to click* habit!

And I still have a book that I bought when I first got my Kindle that I have NO idea what it is.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments A friend here did that on my kindle. I heard the gasp and quickly snatched it back. Was a really expensive history book but I managed to hit the purchased by mistake button. Now I make sure wifi is off before I let anyone play and loom over their shoulder. ;)

Thanks for posting this Elle! :D I brought two ebooks by Jodi Picoult from Amazon and they were full of hundreds of spelling mistakes (ie: 'goy' instead of 'guy') and formatting mistakes. The mistakes were too annoying to continue reading them. They were distracting me from the story so I've returned them now. Amazon or the publishers should really get someone to proof read their books before they go on sale!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments If these are e-versions of traditionally published books it is usually that the conversion processs has been poor. It should still be checked before e-publishing in my opinion and you are quite right to ask for a refund.

This is why I get annoyed when I hear people say that indie books are always full of typos - yes, some of them are, but so are an awful lot of traditionally published books! I've read a few lately which are traditionally published and they all had typos - not enough to put me off reading them though, but it's unfair to single out indies as being the worst offender. I think that it is a general problem with kindle editions, where publishers are rushing to make them available, and will hopefully settle down with time.
