This is a great theory- I agree with this. Perhaps this is how Tessa got to know Jocelyn, and is also why Clary somehow recognizes her.

message 103: by Karina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Karina Zourik It's cause Tessa is the warlock who baptized Clary, I think. She isnt a warlock entirely, but i guess it didnt really matter

message 104: by Kelly (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kelly Just to throw something totally unrelated into the mix, I heard that either Will or Jem is Brother Zachariah from TMI. Has anyone else heard about this?

I agree. It seems like a likely theory.

Margarita I think Clary recognizes Tessa because she's the one that put that powerful block inside Clary's head so she wouldn't be able to see the Shadowhunter world. And since she's starting to remember certain things, its no wonder that she would remember Tessa. Also if you guys remember, the Seelie queen told Clary that there are many things that Clary's mom is hiding from her.

That is a brilliant teory, i would like to think that!

in COB, it says that it was Magnus Bane who put the block in Clary's mind. :)

No. I'm pretty sure it says that someone else helped him. trust me I read the books a couple of times.

message 110: by D Kat (new)

D Kat So Tessa is immortal after all, pretty much made me sad to know that, she would have seen Will and Jem die ugh! part of me hopes that by some struck of luck if she chose Will, Will would become immortal just like her :/

Inês Dhvani wrote: "Tessa isn't a Herondale. If you read TID, you'll know that. Even if she married Will, she couldn't be Jace's ancestor, because she's a warlock, and they can't have children."

what if she is diferent NO ONE really know what she is yet, maybe we will find out that in Clockwork Princess... i don't know. but i believe that she can have children

message 112: by Cali (new) - added it

Cali D. i have a theory that in the clockwork princess tessa time travels to talk to magnus for a cure for jem, i think thats why she was wearing a white dress, because it was before or after her wedding. and i bet the reason she showed up in city of glass because thats when magnus got the white book. which is the HIGH TOP book for any warlock to have.

message 113: by Cali (new) - added it

Cali D. i think she might have reconized tessa cause tessa was probaly in one of the books shes read, like inside the institute they have tessas golden clockwork angel in a a pertected glass case.so there so there HAS to be a book about tessa somewere, plus she said i think it was in city of lost souls how in one of her moms books that was on lukes shelf had strange markings and notes in it. that was i think the shawdow hunter codex book im pretty sure which is the book that will gave tessa when she first came into the institute in clockwork angel, that she kept into her room. plus will had mentioned to her that every in the world they have markings of shawdow hunters everywere in books, ect to remind the mundanes of the brave shawdow hunters, but thats only if tessa is half shawdow hunter but if she isnt a warlock..and my prediction up there is correct from my last comment then there may be a possiblity that tessa may have died and thats why the clockwork angel is in a pertective glass instead of with tessa. but this is just a prediction... dont mind me.(:

Lena I know why. You'll have to read CoLS though.....

I started a city of lost souls discussion about it and people seem to agree with me :)

message 115: by Marie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Marie I'm sort of reading both series (after city of glass I just wanted a happy ending so I'm skipping a lot of page just to follow) and I still don't get why you would think the girl in the woods with Magnus is really Tessa.

message 119: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Madden What if Tessa was the female shadow hunter that Clary's mom mentioned who was present when the ceremony to prevent demons from controlling Clary was preformed? We never did find out who it was and it goes along with the theory that Tessa kept in touch with the Fairchilds. :)

City of glass. page 478

message 125: by Gail (new) - rated it 5 stars

Gail I think. That Tessa isnt a warlock. She just has demon blood i her. Like how Clary has angel blood. Thats my theory.

Paramoreoke Everyone's theories are great... made me think of reading them again... Or maybe the parts people said that connects TMI to TID.

Katrīna Lydia But if Tessa and Clary would be related, Tessa couldn't possibly have ended up with Will, since Will is Jace's ancestor, which would mean that Jace and Clary were related...
But since Will does have descendants and Tessa is still young in Cog, that should mean that Will moved on with somebody else?
I don't like it!

message 128: by Mary (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mary I think we are all prettysure that Tessa can NOT have kids whether she is with Jem or Will. But will has a sister (Cecily) who could have children. In cc's new series TDA the main chracter is Emma Carastairs. Jem is the last of the carastiars so that means emma is a relative and that Jem does not end up with clary. But all of this really relies on tessa not having kids.

Will's sister could be the one who links jace to the Herondales. I hope.

That's true. Forgot about Cecily right there. I hope that, too.

Marie -The Reading Otter Knowing how CC's brain works from her writing all of our theories are probably wrong and it's something else far more complicated and "magical"

message 133: by Hannah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hannah I think she was the female warlock (or whatever she is, since she's immortal I'm assuming she's at least part warlock, part something else) present at clary's shadowhunter protection ritual, and she was probably the one who was helping magnus and jocelyn block clary's sight, that's probably why clary recognizes her.

also cassie said she was wearing white in COG because she was in mourning. which would mean she lost someone in the battle in alicante right? I was trying to think of who it could be she was mourning.

Atricia Ive heard that jem may have become zachriah in the MI series after he may have lived because in MORTMAIN may have saved him.
There is a deep connection between Tessa, Clary and Jace. Tessa is probably related to both one from will herondale and and clarys mother somhow there's more to both stories that meets the eye.

message 135: by Nikki (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nikki wait when did clary see magnus talking to tessa (brown headed girl)

message 136: by Megan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Megan at the back of Clockwork Princess there's a family tree and you see that Tessa does have children so ya

message 137: by Ashley (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ashley Nikki wrote: "wait when did clary see magnus talking to tessa (brown headed girl)"

At the end of City Of Glass.

Clary sees her talking to Magnus and then Tessa slips back into the woods and disappears.

message 138: by Star (new) - rated it 5 stars

Star Fouse omg.. I need to re-read TMI now. Im in the second book of TID. Ive been reading everyones comments and I want to do nothing but read my books now. Would it be so wrong to call into work sick for a week so i can do nothing but read?

message 139: by Sarah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sarah Spitler In Clockwork Princess, we learn that Jace is actually a descendant of Tessa and Will. She probably recognized some of Jace's features in Tessa's face.

Auhmanduh lol, I just stumbled upon this post which is after the final book for TID where we know Tessa is (Sorry no spoilers for those who haven't read it yet).

Im interested to see how they weave Tessa and Jem into the final TMI book.

Here's hoping the movie is freaking fabulous!

message 141: by Sarah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sarah Spitler Well brother Zachariah shows up a few times. I am very excited too:)

Katrīna Lydia I don't actually think that Tessa will be that big of a part in CoHF because the Epilogue of Clockwork Princess takes place after the happenings of CoHF and Jem wants to tell her all about it. Or did I get that totally wrong :D?

Yes there's the final book in the MI series which is COHF and then the next series in the Dark Artifices not out to 2015

message 146: by Maddi (new) - rated it 4 stars

Maddi And what about the CLOCKWORK angel Clary saw when she was in the Seelie court?

message 147: by Abishek (new)

Abishek I think she looks familiar because she mothered all the herondales. Maybe she sees Jace in her.

If you look at the family tree on the inside cover of Clockwork Princess you'll see that Tessa and Will actually did have children. Two a girl and boy. You can also see on the shadowhunter wiki page.

Star Fouse Im almost done with the last TID book and am soo glad I didnt give it up. Jem is now a silent brother, Tessa and Will finally did the nasty and Tessa saved them all. Its so hard to draw out the conclusion. Now, we've just got to get Gabriel and Ciciely together and i'll be all set!
