Nell Grey (nellgrey) | 212 comments Hi Julie, welcome to the group. Your terrier looks just like my Spike - even down to the spiky ruff either side of his/her neck!

message 152: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Eep, sorry, didn't mean to have a tone. I know absolutely nothing about any other reader but I do know loads about cake.

message 153: by Linipoos (new)

Linipoos | 1 comments Hi everyone, I guess my name will appear as Linipoos which shows just how careful you should be when flippantly entering a user name on a site you've just discovered. Anyway, pleased I've found my way onto your rather bizarre land, I can't bake cakes but enjoy eating them.

message 154: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments You will be glad to know you can change it ;)

Just go into edit profile and change your first/last name.

My username is also rather random but it doesn't need to be your display name

I'd like to say hello, but I'm not sure what name to say hello too ;)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Hi whatever your name is going to be changed to !

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments I'm just glad D.d. Isn't a super admin here, or none of us would have the names we had.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hmmmm. Changing names, eh...? Wonder if I could do that to you lot...
Nope. But I can add silly tags to Simon's name. ;)

Hi Julie! You are more than welcome here! Actually I believe a few of our groupites have Sonys. I know I've had one or more conversations about them in here.
As long as you love books (and cake) and can put up with and hopefully join in with our bonkerishness, you'll love it here.

And welcome Linipoos! I love the name! I wouldn't change it!

message 158: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments my mind just supplied me with a word version of the Christmas Carol.

A giant 'name' coming through the window saying I must be visited by the three ghosts of names.

Joanna Gawn (lazuliportals) Hi, I'm Jo, and I'm an avid reader and newbie author. I'm also a Reiki practitioner!

I write with my best friend, and we published our first book The Cordello Quest (Lazuli Portals #1) by Joanna Gawn (I'm allowed to add that, right?) on Kindle a few weeks ago (also as a paperback!)
Kindle is all still pretty new to us, so we're hoping to make the most of the experience! ;-)
New to Groups and just finding my way about!

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Hello and welcome John and Jo. Good to see you've found the best site on the web (IMHO). It's great fun here, but very, very, addictive.

I would start a withdrawal clinic, but I don't want anyone leaving.

message 186: by Leigh (new)

Leigh | 10 comments Hi everyone.

My name is Leigh (male) and I'm from Leicester.
I used to read about 4 or 5 books a year up until I bought my kindle last January. I think I read about 20 or so last year.
I'm open to all sorts of genre really and I do like a good ghost/supernatural story.
I think my favourite book last year was One Day which I was surprised about. I wouldn't normally be attracted to this sort of book, but because of the hype around it, I gave it a read. I
t was excellent. Just goes to show that you can't judge a book....etc.
My favourite author is Bill Bryson. I especially like the travel books that he wrote.

So that's a little about me.

Cheers

message 187: by Joanna (new)

Joanna Gawn (lazuliportals) Thanks for the welcome Philip, D.M., Ignite, Jud and Geoff :-)
And Lorraine, we cross-posted last night, so I missed your welcome! Belated thanks!
Geoff, I think withdrawal would be very difficult, about on a par with trying to wean myself off chocolate. ;-)

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Welcome all, you are just in time for the biggest quiz we have ever done. Also in Wednesday the monthly book selection changes.....

message 189: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hi Leigh, Cornelius Harker writes supernatural stuff - his A Dish Best Served Cold novella and the first book of his Gothic supernatural/horror Saga Words to the Wise are both free today and tomorrow. Do give them a try (and I'm not his agent and he doesn't pay me!)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Hi Leighhhhh!

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments I've downloaded those books Ignite. I was surprised that the first book's cover is wrong in Goodreads. Has Cornelius been getting his data from Amazon? He might want to get Elle to check them for him.

Ignite, I downloaded A dish best served cold earlier from your recommendation.
Looks good.

His books are safe but the imports that GR are mucking around with data plus a lot of the Covers come from Amazon even if the information doesn't. Gonna wait until they cut of all the data from Amazon and then go through and fix covers and the more detailed data.

message 196: by Jud (new)
