OK nominations are open for our next group read to start in early February.

Please remember that the nominator of the selected book is expected to lay out a timetable for the read and to lead the discussion of the book.

Angus has nominated Fatelessness by Imre Kertesz

Angus (angusmiranda) I was about to renominate it again. Thanks David!

The 2004 translation is available in major book stores, so I hope there wouldn't be problems in getting a copy.

Abby I second Angus' nomination!

And may I suggest that the discussion for the next book be a separate discussion thread from other comments about the writer? As a new member I had a hard time finding the discussion for "A Bend in the River". I didn't think anyone was discussing it yet!

Angus (angusmiranda) I agree. We can put up a folder (e.g., Book of the Month) and put the monthly threads there. That way, members can easily follow. :)

Anymore nominations? I intend to close nominations on Friday next.

Angus (angusmiranda) Megan wrote: "Would it be possible to nominate three books at a time, in other words, to select books for the quarter-year, well in advance, so as to make it easier for readers to find copies in time?"

We also do this in one of my other groups (Filipinos). We do that for the purpose of getting copies of the books ahead of time. And also to adjust our reading plans.

Angus (angusmiranda) Any other nominees? I'd like to take responsibility for my nomination, but I'm still waiting for the final say. Also, I'm not a literary major or something like that, so please don't expect too much from me. :)

message 8: by Angus (new)

Angus (angusmiranda) Thanks Megan. I feel a little reluctant to create the thread for it because

1. I am not sure where to put the thread
2. I'm sort of new here

So should we wait for David and the other older members?

message 9: by Abby (new)

Abby I've got the book and will start reading soon - just want to finish A Bend in the River first. I'll keep an eye out for the discussion when it appears.

I'm closing nominations tomorrow and will set up adiscussion thread on Saturday, if there are no further nominations by then. If there are we'll have to have a vote.
