★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 541 comments That is my man...he just shakes his head at me. At least my addiction is cheaper than his (cars). Therefore he doesn't get too mad at me.

message 502: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL Leah! Yeah, mine used to be a huge reader himself, so he doesn't typically complain and usually helps w/my addiction.

message 503: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Mine isn't a reader but he does bring me bookcases :DDD

His addictions would include every power tool known to man, but I can't complain cause he does use them.

message 504: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Bookcases are good! I could use more than a few myself. ;)

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments My husband's addiction is snowboarding for him and the kids. Luckily my books are justified in his eyes since his boarding, and in the nicer months, his adventure races, are always more. So, not only do I get to buy the books, but I also have tons of free time to read them while they are gone :D

message 506: by Leah (new)

Leah | 880 comments I suppose my husband accepts my addiction but he makes me take responsibility.

We recently moved into a new house and all my boxes of books were sitting in the garage. I wasn't allowed to park inside until I hauled them all upstairs myself!!! This might not seem worth it to some of you but keep in mind that I live in Edmonton where we get tons of snow and ice, so having your car parked outside sucks!!

And we still need bookcases -- the books are now scattered around our spare bedroom pulled out from all of the boxes!

message 507: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL Leah! Now that's just mean.

message 508: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Mean, but worth it!

message 509: by Leah (new)

Leah | 880 comments Sandra wrote: "Mean, but worth it!"

Yes, it was worth it. Also, now I don't have to go out to the garage to look through boxes everytime I want to do a re-read.

message 510: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I get around 70% of my ebooks/audiobooks from the library and for the other 30%, I use my credit card points to get Amazon Gift Cards.

So at the end, my addiction comes out pretty cheap. :)

I just started using our library and I love it!! Free books!! I'm trying to start only purchasing my favourite series. I didn't think of using credit card points, I should check and see if I can...

message 512: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 541 comments I just found my debit card points have one for B&N and I have a lot added up, so I can get lots of booky money.

message 513: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Great idea with the points for amazon...

message 514: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments So jealous! We don't get points on cc for anything book related, just stupid coffee makers or crap like that to fill your kitchen etc etc

And I'd use my library more if they had our sort of books *sigh*

message 515: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 541 comments I am going to stalk the thread a little late today. I am going to sleep and will wake up early in the afternoon my time to get back to work after 8 hrs. :( At least I can look forward to the shelf this afternoon.

I agree with you about the library. Their idea of UF is LKH. They've expanded their offerings but the books are always out.

message 517: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Sorry guys... Can't stalk the shelf til later today, spring is here and I have to go play soccer mom. So I'm getting a chant in early...

Midu Hadi | 1732 comments HELP! Would either of these work:
Half the Blood of Brooklyn (Joe Pitt, #3) by Charlie Huston Biting the Bullet (Jaz Parks, #3) by Jennifer Rardin One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost for the paranormal mystery shelf?

message 522: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 17, 2012 10:44AM) (new)

One Foot in the Grave is out. I combed it's shelves with search and no one has it under paranormal mystery.
Don't know about the other two.

message 529: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Midu - I see you have What's a Ghoul to Do? in your TBR.

That should work for the pnr-mystery shelf.

Lis | 4037 comments Still stalking, but have to go to a birthday celebration.... No shelf announcement yet...

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments No worries, DG, b/c OUR SHELF IS HERE!
shelf announcement is up ~ 'magic'

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

RE: Library - we have a library on the base and while it's sad and pathetic (ONE row of adult fiction; front/back and 1/2 row of YA), I also grabbed a free membership to the Philly library. Thanks to Judithe! I try not to complain though b/c somethin' is certainly better than nutin'. :D

Happy Reading, Everyone! :)

message 533: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Woohoo!!

message 534: by Leah (new)

Leah | 880 comments Yay!! I even have a book on hand in the category :)

message 535: by [deleted user] (new)

Shelf up!
And it's a nice, ample category. I should have something on hand.
*goes dancing to rummage around TBR pile*

message 536: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (versusthesiren) | 245 comments Midu, I had A Discovery of Witches and The Demon's Lexicon in my pnr-mystery shortlist.

message 537: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Perfect shelf! I've been wanting to read a Dresden book :)

message 538: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 1732 comments Thanks, D.G. and Valerie! The Demon's Lexicon (The Demon's Lexicon Trilogy, #1) by Sarah Rees Brennan does look good!

message 539: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Vivian wrote: "Perfect shelf! I've been wanting to read a Dresden book :)"

Which one will you pick? My list is always so freaking long, here is my maybe list for this shelf(I have all of these in audio or ebook from the library or I own, so really all of them are options):

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness Queen of the Darkness (The Black Jewels, #3) by Anne Bishop Shady Lady (Corine Solomon, #3) by Ann Aguirre The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (The Inheritance Trilogy, #1) by N.K. Jemisin The Magicians by Lev Grossman The Shadow Reader (McKenzie Lewis, #1) by Sandy Williams Unforsaken (Banished, #2) by Sophie Littlefield The Black Company by Glen Cook Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1) by Carrie Vaughn Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera, #1) by Jim Butcher Heart Of Stone (Negotiator Trilogy, #1) by C.E. Murphy Finding the Lost (Sentinel Wars, #2) by Shannon K. Butcher Moon Over Soho (Peter Grant, #2) by Ben Aaronovitch The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1) by Megan Whalen Turner The Curse of Chalion (Chalion, #1) by Lois McMaster Bujold The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower, #1) by Stephen King

message 540: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Regina, I almost picked Shadow Reader. A discovery of witches always seems to pop up, but it's gotten mixed reviews and it is pretty long. I enjoyed Stephen Kings Gunslinger series years ago but it is a little weird.

Good luck!

message 541: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 541 comments I would just grab one of the ones that you have at home. If it doesn't work out, drop it and go to the next.

message 542: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I had them all at home. :D.

I ended up going with Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1) by Carrie Vaughn

message 543: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Regina, it will be interesting to see your take on this book. The character changes throughout the series and a lot of people have had strong views on this book. I like the series but I read it out of order (sacrilege - I know).

message 544: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments I like the Kitty books, a consistent 3-4 star series for me. Hope you enjoy!

I'm reading Changes, which is both exciting and sad because it means I'm almost caught up. I've been trying to spread the books out until Cold Days comes out in October.

message 545: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Vivian, I understand -- I remember when I caught up with Dresden a few years ago. The good news is those books (except the first few) make great re-reads. :) Cold Days was moved to October?!!! I thought it was July?

I am enjoying Kitty so far.

message 546: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I really enjoyed Kitty (and can't wait for the next one!) once I finally started it last year! Hope you continue to like it!

message 547: by Zaanodes (new)

Zaanodes | 804 comments All this talk about %...

Is this calculated by GR and if so...where? Color me (potentially) embarrassed but I have not been able to find it.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments Mmmm. Don't know really. I calculated mine...maybe it's better if I don't...too many books still yet to read.

message 549: by Zaanodes (new)

Zaanodes | 804 comments Yeah, mine has got to be close to 50%...I don't think I really want to know! lolol
