Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I had 9 books either on my kindle or audio on my iPhone waiting to start that were on this shelf! So for me it was hard to narrow down. Too bad I don't like to the book I picked.

message 452: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments That's a shame, Regina. Luckily I still had a Harry Dresden book lying around from the library, which I didn't get to read earlier. I would have had a hard time finding something otherwise.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments Oh, I wished I was not up-to-date with the Harry Dresden books but I am.

message 454: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I had plenty to pick from, people put weird stuff on shelves. But I just kept looking till I found one I really wanted to read.

Loved Mount TBR. I'm adopting it. It is still making me laugh.

message 456: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Mount TBR may soon be the size of Mount Everest.

message 457: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Where's the like button?!?!?!?!

Though I do still feel pleased that my TBRs in their various shelves still come to under 38% of my total books! Though when I catch up on Bingo review reading, that number will likely become an endangered species....

message 458: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments My TBR is becming a whole Mountain Range and growing every day... Now we need to find a way to get an extra hour or two into the day ;)

message 459: by Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ (last edited Mar 14, 2012 06:18AM) (new)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments Only 38% Judithe! I envy you, mine is 50% read vs un-read.

message 460: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 14, 2012 07:35AM) (new)

Mine probably on the 50% range too, and I refrain to add more than the first volume of series too. And I always end up reading about ten or fifteen books each year that weren't even close to figure but were just on hand. She resist erosion.

message 461: by Katie (new)

Katie (kahneks) | 98 comments She resist erosion...funny stuff. I envy my goodread friends with only 50 or so books on their TBR list! I will get there someday.

D.G. | 2752 comments I finished this week's book! Can I start chanting shelf already?

Lis! Where are you when I need you?

:p

message 463: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I've stopped putting books on my tbr!

This is me too!! and it's only Wednesday :( I suppose we should probably hold off chanting until at least... Thursday? Friday??

message 465: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Do you think so, Leah?

Holding until tomorrow might be difficult. ;p

message 466: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I finished too and am so gosh darned thankful! Kerstin I saw you read a Dresden book, I was jealous. :D Oh well, I am thankful though that I read this book in a bingo round otherwise I would not have pushed through. At least I don't have the guilt of a dnf hanging over my head.

message 467: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments What did you read, Regina?

message 468: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I listened to an audio a bought in one of those dastardly audible.com sales! Something from the Nightside Something from the Nightside (Nightside, #1) by Simon R. Green

These were my choices -- I had the ebook or audio books of these either purchased or from the library:

First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones Something from the Nightside (Nightside, #1) by Simon R. Green The Restorer (Graveyard Queen #1) by Amanda Stevens Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1) by Carrie Vaughn Shakespeare's Trollop (A Lily Bard Mystery, #4) by Charlaine Harris GhosTV (PsyCop, #6) by Jordan Castillo Price Shady Lady (Corine Solomon, #3) by Ann Aguirre The Kingdom (Graveyard Queen #2) by Amanda Stevens The Magicians by Lev Grossman Finding the Lost (Sentinel Wars, #2) by Shannon K. Butcher Heart Of Stone (Negotiator Trilogy, #1) by C.E. Murphy Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

message 469: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Ah I'm jealous of people who've finished. I'm reading Shades of Grey (Shades of Grey, #1) by Jasper Fforde which is good but a little bit of work to keep the world straight. No shelf chanting yet for me.

message 470: by D.G. (last edited Mar 14, 2012 09:41AM) (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Well, now I know to stay away from that book. :)

Of your list, I've only read First Grave on the Right and I'm not a fan. That first book was OK but then I couldn't take the end of book 2 so decided to end the series there.

I have Heart Of Stone on my TBR and I'm planning to read it one of these days...

message 471: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I want to start the Kitty, Graveyard Queen and the Negotiator series too. I also have the Nightside series on my TBR which I'm now hesitant about. Way too many series on my TBR!

message 472: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Vi -- I agree, me too!

DG, the book is not worth the effort but I put the strengths of the book in my review. Several of my GR friends liked it, I was just bored.

message 473: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Regina, I've had the nightside series recommended to me many times. The upside is that the series is completed, I *think*

message 474: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Vi I think it is worth giving a try to.

Maybe today we could start some quiet whispering rather than chanting? We'll work our way up to the chant.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Ditto on the mountain range, Michelle! ;) I try not to look at ratio of read/TBR. Too sad b/c I know I'll never be able to read them all. But, sure is fun tryin'!

Just did a quick check of mine, phew! *wipes sweat off brow* 33% of total books. Mind you, I've got a lot of books. LOL

message 482: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments No way mine is that low. But, I'll never know for sure b/c I'm never gonna check. LOL!

message 483: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Well you haven't added all your books for a start.

I'm sure to have missed some, but close enough.

message 484: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! For the same reason I don't wanna know the %, I don't wanna see my totals glaring at me when I look at my GR page. >;)

message 485: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments So you guys have the list of the books you've read pre-GR?

message 486: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Vi, you're talking 45 yrs worth of reading, so no.

I have added all the books scattered all over my house, I hardly ever get rid of a book. But I did read out 3 libraries in my younger days. Some books I remember so I've added them, most not so much.

message 487: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I have a listed most of the books I read pre-GR, but I didn't really read that much many years ago. Nowhere near as many I as I've read in the last 4 yrs or so.

message 488: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Ah, I see. I was shocked that you both were so diligent (not to mention remember them) in recording the books read.

message 489: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Steph wrote: "Ditto on the mountain range, Michelle! ;) I try not to look at ratio of read/TBR. Too sad b/c I know I'll never be able to read them all. But, sure is fun tryin'!"

Very true! I've been bad at adding books I own to my tbr because it was getting a little frightening. I hope I never finish them all because it will be a sad day if we run out of books.

message 490: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Initially, I didn't have the time to add them all. Now, I just don't wanna know the total #. And, absolutely! A sad day that would be!

message 491: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Don't worry it's never gonna happen. Look at all these authors poppin outta the woodwork, if we're havin trouble readin em all now, we're never runnin out.

That was so weird, trying to type and spell things wrong. LOL

With so many books on hand I needed to put all the physical copies I could on here, so it was easier to see what I had and so I didn't double up. Or at least try not to double up.

With new series I only put the 1st one on the lists unless I actually have some of the others.

I'm not worried by the #, hubby may be but I'm not. LOL.

message 492: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments I've only been putting the first one or two in a series on my list but I have been buying later books if I see them at a good price, lately a lt of authors have been offering book 3 in a series for free on kindle. Nice strategy to get us to buy the first couple.

Lately I've been getting the "our records show you purchased this on...." when I'm buying kindle books. Thank God somebody keeps track! I should update it really...

message 493: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL Sandra! Yeah, I'm glad my hubby would pass out if he realized how many eBooks I buy. >;) I always update when I read a book and that's good enough for me. Maybe one day I'll add those I have on-hand, but no time to deal w/it now.

message 494: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, hubby has no clue regarding the ebooks. He's fairly computer illiterate and wouldn't know how to log on to GR for example.

Of course you have no time, you're doing insane amounts of school work and still running SOS and keeping a busy marine happy :D

message 495: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! Mine is way more literate (his job involves computers), but thankfully he leaves my ExHDs alone. And, I try to space out my orders, so the $.99 - $5.99 prices here and there seem like nothing. LOL! If he bothered to add up the monthly "mini charges", he'd realize they add up quickly. Phew! >;)

I miss all my GR time. But, my uni graduation date is 13 months away - WOOHOO! :D

message 496: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments It also helps that I control all the money. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

And YAY!!!!! on the countdown to Grad-u-ation!!

message 497: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! True!

Whoop Whoop! Still - 13 months is a way off, but it's better than yearS. :D

Hahah I have used this same strategy with my book credit card charges, but my husband figured out!! I've resorted to using a combination of cash, credit and debit in order to hide the frequency of my purchases.

Furthermore, I bet if he saw this post he would say something along the lines of "The first step to beating an addiction is admitting you have one". Never I say, never!

message 500: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments The trick is to get a hubby who accepts your addiction despite himself. LOL
