Tera (TheBookishAbyss) So, I just got home from Twilight. I am a sucker for a good vampire story and I recently read the book, so I decided to go see it (I prefer seeing films on opening night...). It followed the book fairly well. You will recognize lines from the story in the script. There were a few things that were changed, but they didn't deter from the overall storyline. It ended up being a little funnier than I expected although the book does have some humor, I just overlooked it while focusing on the relationship between Bella and Edward. Not the movie of the year, but worth seeing if you're a Twilight fan.

Stephanie | 85 comments I agree! I just got home and I was pretty impressed. I admit I was a little worried about the movie But they did a really good job. There was no screaming from the 60 or so teenage girl than goodness but there was a lot of laughing. If you liked the books I'm fairly sure you will like the movie.

message 3: by Rachel (new)

Rachel i LOVED this movie! i thought the actors really nailed their parts. bella was the perfect bella, edward was a perfect edward, mike newton was the most hilarious and perfect mike newton, rosalie was the perfect rosalie, etc. etc. etc. for every single one of them. and the chemistry between edward and bella was definitely excellent. there were a few cinematographic (is that a word?) choices that i thought were really odd. but the movie itself - without the weird camera movements in a few places - was really, really great. and i can't get over the fact that they ended with radiohead "15 steps." it was a perfect choice, and i am a sucker for a good soundtrack!

Suzanne (suzanneramos) | 1 comments I also went to the 12:01 showing and thought the movie was awesome...the characters were just what I thought they would be...I can't wait for the rest of them to come out on the big screen :)

Stephanie | 85 comments Ok so I just went to The internet movie database and when you enter New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn it says 2010, 2011, and 2013. It doesnt show any pictures or give any info but they are all there so at least we know they are thinking about making them.....YAY!!!!!

message 6: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade I LOVED Twilight!! I just saw it! I thought whoever played Alice (I always forget her name) did a great job! She was my favorite :D And Mike Newton and Eric were so funny; they were like the guys in my class at my old school, which was nice for me! XD

Stephanie | 85 comments Ok I just read that Twilight grossed 70.6 million this weekend. Making it the highest opening weekend for a female director!!!! YAY!!!

and guess what??

They have decided to proceed with the production of NEW MOON!!!!

It said they didn't know if they would be using they same director but that they were talking about it!

Kathy (readr4ever) | 5 comments I, too, loved the movie. I was afraid of being disappointed since I loved the books so much, but I think the adaptation was well done.

message 9: by Vee (new)

Vee I saw the movie this weekend. It was GOOD!.. not great. The movie is made for the people who read the book. A couple inconsistencies occurred and I'm sure people who didn't read the book would get confused. The movie left out some critical chunks but I'm sure they saved that for the DVD special features... they better! (I wanted to see the cross she described in the entry way to the study & I would have liked to see some more teasing banter back & forth in the beginning of Bella and Edward's relationship) The Edward that existed in my head was more like Emmett with floppy hair. Rosalie is just like I pictured her and I loved Alice. The acting was really good by everyone. I think whatever-his-name-is that played Edward let the pressure get to him and he over acted just a little bit. I didn't think the vampire characters needed ALL THAT MAKEUP! I pictured the vampire stance (the confrontation when James' coven entered) would be more.. fantasy like.. I envisioned teeth, faced contortions, more scary special effects. I was a little disappointed with that. I think they could have worked some really cool effects in this movie. Maybe the next one will have it. Oh, I loved Carlisle!! He reminded me of Tom Cruise in Interview with a Vampire.
I liked the twist at the end. I had only read Twlight at that point and somehow KNEW she'd make a reappearance. I finished the second book last night.

Becca (becca2) | 86 comments I saw the movie with my daughter. I've read all the books, and I liked the movie. It was difficult for me to be too excited about it because, unlike the Harry Potter books/movies, the first movie of the Twilight series did not come out until ALL the books had already been published. We already know how EVERYTHING is going to end in total. As I felt like the final book was a letdown to a certain extent, I don't have the excitement for the movies. I just see them as enjoyable visual recreations of the books and not as an added sense of anticipation of anything as the Harry Potter movies made one anticipate the coming books even more. Maybe that's why I'm not as excited about the remaining Harry Potter movies, either.

message 11: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade Um, there aren't going to BE any more Harry Potter books :( Two more movies, though! :D I'm so excited!

But anyways, I loved Twilight, but I thought some parts were admittedly a bit...cheesy, I guess? I laughed, even though it wasn't funny in some parts, because it was like 'intense stare!' ;)

message 12: by Rachel (new)

Rachel i agree there was definitely some cheesy acting, but you also have to remember this was the first in a series and had a relatively low budget for a blockbuster movie. even if you go back to the first "harry potter," it's kind of funny. as the movies progress, the actors get more in touch with their characters, the directing gets better, the effects get better, the cinematography gets better....everything gets better, in large part due to huge increases in budget. so it makes me very excited for future films because they're only going to get better.

as for "harry potter," i am SOOOOOO excited! i saw "twilight" twice, and they played two DIFFERENT "harry potter" previews. man, i was on cloud nine!!!

Becca (becca2) | 86 comments Nightshade: I meant "movies" not "books." I edited it. Thanks!

message 14: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade :D Ok! Because I was like 'Umm...books?' :)

And I agree with Rachel- some of it wasn't meant to be funny, but I was giggling like an idiot because it was a bit cheesy! 'INTENSE STARE-DOWN...' yeah. :) But I think New Moon is going to be even better!

And I SAW THE HARRY POTTER TRAILER! I'm so excited!!! The odd thing:

I was with my friend (who saw Twilight at midnight the day before), sitting in the theater, waiting for Twilight and watching a Harry Potter trailer on November 21st.

BUT if all had gone as planned, and HP came out 11/21 and Twilight came out 12/12...

I would be with my friend (who saw Harry Potter at midnight the day before), sitting in the theater, waiting for Harry Potter and watching a Twilight trailer on November 21st.

Kai (ky02121) | 51 comments The movie was unintentionally funny. I mean I got some good laughs. I thought Robert Pattinson did a good job. Kristen Stewart had some scenes that were painful to watch.

I need to finish the book...reading it..my daughter has already read the series.

message 17: by K (new)

K Sometimes cheesy but it hit all the right spots and was exactly as expected.

Although I didn't find Bella nearly as pathetic and Edward much less controlling in the film, which is a good thing!

message 18: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nlojeda) | 42 comments I found this movie to be more than disappointing. I read all the books and thought the casting was terrible with a few exceptions (Bella, Edward, Bella's dad, Alice, Jessica). The directing was terrible (so glad they're finding a new one) and the special effects were not up to par with other vamp/action movies. Some of the acting was terrible and I found it to be disappointing overall.

message 19: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nlojeda) | 42 comments Forgot to add how cheesy Stephenie's cameo was. Super lame and obvious. Oh and I really missed the fangs in the movie. In the books it works, but in the movie it's just not as sexy.

Finally saw this. The film was ok but didn't capture the characters in the way the book was able to do. The narrator of the book really made you feel the fear any teenager has when moving to a new school, town, etc. The movie just moved too fast; didn't have time to develop characters. For those who hadn't read the book, I could see those viewers finding the story a little boring...not filled with enough twists, etc. This was a hard book to put on film...unlike the Potter films.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

It wasn't much like the book, but I still liked it... they got some parts wrong, though...

did anyone else notice Stephenie Meyer in the scene in the restaraunt-place???(i did)

Anna (lilfox) | 465 comments I saw this movie. It was good. Robert Pattinson did great work, but Kirsten Stewart augh......... She was stiff.

message 23: by Gracee (new)

Gracee (graceebongolan) | 12 comments I watched this movie a week after the opening night and I must say I felt like I wasted my money on it but no regrets. I hope New Moon will be much better since the setting is much more beautiful. I can't wait for Breaking Dawn, but that's more likely next year =)

message 24: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 35 comments Blah. The movie was boring and had bad acting. I couldn't even bare to watch the whole thing! I agree with Nicole that even the directing was bad. I read the book and found that to be a bore at times to but it did have a way of enveloping you. The movie did not.
