Oooh - I need to read that (as you know)! I'll join you :)I'll see how my reading schedule looks but I probably can't start until Thursday. No matter - you start as planned and I'll catch up over the weekend...
Oh phooey, I just finished reading this on my own - really enjoyed it, by the way. Maybe I'll join in on your chat when you're done reading.
I finished it today. Once I got about half way through I couldn't put it down. Lacey grew on me. For some reason it was a little slow for me in the beginning and it took until about 30% in until I was really invested, and then after the half way mark I loved it. Lacey just outshined every other character. Maybe her brother Emmett was a close second, I loved him too. By far my favorite scene in the book was when...(view spoiler) 4*
I tried to get going last night but the book hasn't come across properly onto my ereader. Hopefully I can sort this out so that I can continue :)
I've sorted out my problem with my book, so once I finish my current read, I'll get back onto this one :)
I finally got some time to sit and really get into the story. You were right Fran it was hard to put down. I stayed up until after midnight to finish it. I am absolutely in love with everything Molly Harper writes. Big 5 stars for me.
Dawn, I'm so glad you loved it! Thanks for choosing it as a buddy read and reading it with me. Did you have a favorite scene? Did you read my spoiler? That's my favorite, but I did love the whole thing.
Sorry I thought I had time to really comment then the kids got up. There were so many great scenes hard to choose just one. (view spoiler).
I loved all of the ones you mentioned also. And I had the same fear about the ending as you did, but also so glad with the way it turned out :)
I'm half way through. I was able to sit down last night and really get stuck into it, but had to put it down at 11pm :(I'm really enjoying it. It is effortless to read - I love Harper's sarcastic writing style. I think she would write a phone book (with some literary licence) and I would enjoy it!
Finished! It was so much fun :) There are some classic lines and scenes in the book that left me with a permanent smile on my face, and frequent giggles. But my favourite line was when she joined her brother and his friends (who are all gay) at his dinner party for a bit of sympathy, it goes pear-shaped, and she then asks "Can I get a second opinion from a panel of lesbians?"Thanks for the buddy read Fran and Dawn :)
I want Emmett to have his own book! He deserves his own HEA, and it would be so entertaining to read about :)
An Emmett follow up book: great idea. I haven't seen that MH writes M/M but there's no reason why she couldn't... She has the narkiness down pat :)
I invited Molly Harper to join us for a Q&A at the Ask An Author, Win A Book corner and she accepted. One of us has got to ask her about Emmett having his own book!
I am not really as in to m/m, but I wouldn't hesitate to read it if Molly Harper wrote it. That is super cool that she accepted!
Hmmm....I guess m/m is not mainstream enough for Emmett to have his own book. Would be great if she wrote a free story about him on her website though!
Fran wrote: "I invited Molly Harper to join us for a Q&A at the Ask An Author, Win A Book corner and she accepted. One of us has got to ask her about Emmett having his own book!"Score Fran!! I'll definitely drop by that thread - if only to see if her posts are as funny as her writing! :)
Hi, ladies! I wasn't sure I could read this book by the end of the month but I started it 2 days ago & haven't done anything else since! I loved everything in it but... why does everyone around her think that she over-reacted with her mailing?? On the contrary, I thought it was very clever of her; it never happened to me (till now) but I think I would have gone with a much more "primitive" reaction (destroy everything around me, scream & cry but no public statement)... When (if) the day comes, I hope I can be a "grown-up" like Lacey ;) P.S: I usually find boyfriends in chick-lits quite boring but I actually liked Lefty!
Dinou, I agree. I put it up to an older generation thing.Older generations might be more willing to stay in a relationship like the mother in law. I don't know any one of my friends who would stay in a relationship like that.
