I read whenever I get time, I read when I am eating, I read when before going to sleep, I read between two Direct Tax lessons :P, basically people find me doing one of the two things at my leisure time, 1. Reading or 2. Strumming my guitar.
I choose the first option more than the second one :)

Shriya Actually my hometown Leicester is very cultural, it is the twin city of Rajkot, many languages spoken, warm city, that is why we have Indian related events on a regular basis, I constantly compare India and Leicester during blogposts. If you ever come UK for a long period of time, Leicester is a nice place to see, not just Indian side but villages, beautiful gardens. Diwali has over 10,000 people that night during firework show, larger than London.

The ratio is 25:75 in the favor of second hand ones. There is a site called http://www.secondhandbooksindia.com/ where you get second hand books in good condition and a lot cheaper.

Shriya Cool Anibran, UK has charity shops for books, I am not aware of special sites like this one. If you are nice to the volunteers at a charity shop, you can give them a list of books you want, most times they will call you. I prefer charity shops, because I am feeding my brain with knowledge and others with food :)

Srishti, that is why I hate how news show all places in UK are dangerous, yes every city has crime, but NDTV/ABP News (Star News) destroys our image. I love Mumbai just as much as I love Leicester, past life must have been in India for sure!

Dear admins, sorry for taking over this discussion as an adda! Ms chatty has arrived..

message 112: by Umang (new)

Umang (umang7) | 127 comments @anirban and shristi - i guess Anirban is a big time bookaholic....on the other hand, a guy like me is used to be more keen on continuing with the TV series that I left before attending classes... I guess that's where reading has not got into some of us.. (and yes sm sitcoms are damn addictive, they make u go insomniac.. hope it happens with books as well for me!)

And, about Secondhandbooks, I am a regular customer of this site. The books come in good condition, and delivery is also within the time mentioned in the site.

Srishti Singh | 0 comments second hand books hmm...i agree with Umang on the collection thing...even I started it in Jan..its good for people like me who read 1-2 books a month but for those averaging at 5-6 like anirban,i think its a better option...i'd be broke if i read n spent like that :P
@shriya:yes new channels do misguide us a lot.thats why we have travel channels n blogs ;)

message 120: by Srishti (new)

Srishti Singh | 0 comments And yes Umang,Kolkata is wonderful-you're missing out on a lot if you've never been there.Pune/B'lore don't have the kind of charm Kolkata does.

message 121: by Umang (new)

Umang (umang7) | 127 comments @ritu - heavy stuff.. no please even I havent been able to pull off Rushdie, Vikram Seth, Tolstoy..as such...Infact I found even My name is red by OP kinda heavy.. Left the fountainhead half way..

But yes if the book is good, I dnt mind the the no of pages. At what age.. I have been tryin since last 2-3 years (end of engineering).. It's more appropriate that I am on a mission to finish the classics first.

@Shriya - Well yes, Kolkata has a lotta that traditional charm, the hustle of the old India..and would love to visit. However, settling there.. nope - too much pollution, heat, crowd. Bangalore and Pune are defntly more green, cosmo and young! You have lived in Kolkata seems like?

Its a biopic on Che Guevara. Actually I am the wrong person to ask about a movie.I rarely watch them. But, I have generally heard good words about the movie.
