Synopsis is: Tiffany hasn't seen her film-maker father in the two years since her parents' divorce. So naturally she's uneasy when her mother suddenly announces she's remarrying and taking a long honeymoon, and Tiffany has to spend the time with her father. For the next five weeks she'll be helping her dad shoot a wildlife film in the dusty Australian outback.
Australia is the last place on earth Tiffany wants to be; she can't understand the way the people talk, she's brought all the wrong clothes, and her father keeps telling her that she's spoiled. It looks as if the trip may turn out to be a disaster.
Her one hope for fun is Bruce Dawson, the handsome guide for the trip. But unless Tiffany can hold her own in the rugged outback, Bruce will never even notice her. Can she prove herself and win his love, too?

No worries! I read it about twenty years ago when I was a kid! My sister had all of those Sweet Dreams books and your description sounded really familiar. I thought it might be from that series, so I googled Sweet Dreams series Australia, and it came up! Being an Australian, I actually remember finding this book a tiny bit annoying, as it just reinforces inaccurate cultural stereotypes (95% of Australians live in large metropolitan cities, not the outback), but it was still a pretty good read! Enjoy!
I read it about 25 years ago, too:) I have a feeling books like that didn't really think about whether they were perpetuating a stereotype or not. Hopefully, the books coming out these days for young teens are more considerate of such issues. Come to think of it, most books coming out these days for that same target group are no where near the same - not nearly as innocent.
14 or 15 year old girl is sent to live with dad for the summer in Australia. She's rather spoiled - think girl from legally blond - and she can't imagine living in the outback and working with animals and not being catered to. She meets a boy, who (of course) is all into that rugged lifestyle. In the end, there is a forest fire and she helps rescue a Koala bear and discovers that she doesn't need her designer things and that she would rather stay with her dad than be in the US.
