Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Awesome!

Hey, Stu. How's the knee doing? Do you need to get stitches removed or anything?

message 652: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thanks Patti! I took them out myself on Tuesday!

Harrison Davies (harrisondavies) | 186 comments Just read your latest excerpt...reminded me of home, and spending time at the beach as a child, which I guess was almost every day.

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thank you for taking a look Harrison - I spent alot of time as a child at the campsite I describe - and now my own children love it too!

Oh that is one of my favourite jobs, taking out stitches (or skin staples). Love it!! As I mentioned last night, Nurses are a funny breed :-)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I could see the fun doing it for another person, but on myself??

Nope!

message 658: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Even a psychiatric nurse can remove stitches - although Rebecca wasn't too pleased that I'd used the small kitchen knife...

Lol! And ew!! Yeah I am with Rebecca on that one!
And there was me thinking that all MH Nurses did was make tea and smoke fags ;-) xx

message 661: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I washed it up afterwards of course!

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Hey there lovely, was gonna post this in the morning thread but realised you would probably be the only one interested!!
I have been up at the Cricket Club today helping get things ready for the new season (which starts in 3 weeks, yay!!)
Thought I would post some photo's of my second home for you. Here is the pitch (my brother is the groundsman) http://www.goodreads.com/photo/group/...
Here is the Club House and pavilion (both of which have seen better days!!)http://www.goodreads.com/photo/group/...
And here is the Pavilion (the building on the left of the last piccie) back in 1896 (and yep, it is pretty much the same building!!) http://eppingcc.hitscricket.com/galle...
Hope that last link works as I haven't got a digital piccie of that one so linked to the clubs website instead.
I am sure it is no where near as nice as Tollesbury CC but it is home :-)
Is gonna be a weird old season this year. Our Curator (and my Mums Best friend) was found dead last week so the whole club is in total shock. Hopefully they will make it a good season for him.
Anyways, chat soon. Em x

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Great stuff! I have a mate who played/plays for Epping I think - Ed Bishop - ring a bell??

Tollesbury CC sadly folded the year before I moved to the village. If ever I come into any money my dream is to start it up again!

message 665: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments The name does ring a bell but I am pretty sure that he played for Epping Forresters CC. Epping is only a small town but for some unknown reason has 2 cricket clubs!!

Our little club is possibly having to move which is such a shame as it has been where it is now since the 1800's. I am just glad that my Grandad is no longer with it enough (dementia) to know about the move as it would have broken his heart!!

message 678: by Vic (new)

Vic Heaney (vic_heaney) | 689 comments Great review Stuart. I also read Frankenstein. I had never seen any of the films but still knew, from carry-over into popular culture (comedians, impressionists, et cetera) all about the bolt-through-the-neck stereotype.

Instead, I found the very moving tale that you just reviewed, and a sad and lonely creature longing for human contact.

message 690: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Not really Patti. Aching all over and can't stop coughing. Hardly any sleep for four nights. Going to the walk-in centre tomorrow to see if they can do anything. Cheers for asking though!

message 691: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh Stu. I'm sorry. I was hoping you were all better now as you said you felt a bit better yesterday. :(

Sounds like a really nasty bug! I hope they can at least help to relieve some of your symptoms. Your chest muscles must really hurt. :(
