D.G. Hiya everybody!

I've been a mystery fan ever since I read my first mystery (Murder on the Orient Express) when I was a teenager. In the last few years I haven't read as much as I liked though (I'm a hussy that cannot stay faithful to one genre) but I hope to remedy that this year.

Recently I started a re-read of Agatha Christie in audio. It was supposed to last me a few years but I've listened to 3 books in less than 3 weeks. Let's see how that goes!

I tend to like historical mysteries so besides AC, I'm reading the Shardlake series by C.J. Samson. I've read a lot of books by Anne Perry but I haven't felt like reading anything by her when I found out that she was a convicted murderer.

I'm looking forward to chatting with you and finding new recommendations. :)

Hi D.G., welcome. We're finishing up our Agatha Christie Author Fest, so you can stop by and join in the conversation. (The thread never closes, actually, so don't worry.)

I've got Dissolution coming up on TBR fairly soon. I've heard so much about it; I can't wait.

D.G. Thanks Hayes and Keri!

The Shardlake series is really good but it's very detailed - you get a really feel for that time. :)

Kate Carlisle (katecarlisle) | 19 comments Hi, DG! Welcome! Since you like historical mysteries, check out the Amelia Peabody series. The first one is
Crocodile on the Sandbank. Amelia is an Egyptologist, and the books are fascinating!

Thanks so much for the rec, Kate! My really awesome library has it on ebook form so I put myself in the waiting list. :)

Welcome Jody. Since you like historical mysteries have you tried The Rhetoric of Death by Judith Rock or Prophecy by S. J. Parris, both very good.

D.G. Thanks, Donna! My library had Heresy on audio so I'll try that one.
