Major storm. Named St Jude. Someone in the British met office has a nasty sense of humour.

Thanks, Margaret. Did a search. Hopefully Britain, France and Holland have not sustained too much damage overall. *crosses fingers* Terrible about the loss of life.

You're welcome! When I first saw the title I totally freaked out thinking they meant an aquila, the golden eagle carried by the Roman legions. Still amazing.

message 4610: by Michal (new)

Michal (chrudos) | 154 comments Thanks for sharing Nate! Thought it was aquila, too :)

That's what I thought at first. In my head I saw you had written 'Roman Eagle sculpture' and instantly thought aquila.
I was a little disappointed that it wasn't...but only a little. The find was still incredible. :)

Was this as a result of the hubbub by your porch a while back?

message 4615: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I will be providing photos for sure. How could I not? They are just the most adorable little darlings. :)
Surely I have an obligation to share their cuteness with the world.

As soon as mum lets the chickens out from under her bosom. Right now they just pop out a head or foot every now and then. Mum sits there all intense. not moving a muscle...unless you put your hand near her, then LOOK OUT!

Not really. However, the rooster (Mr T) that was attacking that day, he is the dad and he was new. We didn't have a rooster until a couple months back. We weren't sure if we ever wanted to raise any chickens, but then I saw this beautiful fellow and three hens of the same breed (Bantam Red Wyandottes) selling at a local markets and I bought the four of them.

So the babies are a product of him and one of the hens we already had (her name is Pearl..:)..)

message 4617: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol...Mr T is a perfect name for a rogue rooster.

message 4618: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments he has a black glossy mohawk too. :)
I should include a picture of Mr T when I post the chicken photo.

When he struts up with his dark glossy feathers and bad attitude we quite often say to him "I pity the fool!"

Vanessa Eden Patton (vanessaeden) | 98 comments I do want to say this because I am new here. I use the goodreads app. When I type reviews, there will be spelling and grammatical errors because when typing on a touch screen phone with auto correct, can be difficult and it does limit my ability to sometimes be clear in what I am trying to say. For instance my auto correct will correct something when I had it right to begin with and I wont know it until I have already posted.
I just wanted to say this because I do get alot of criticism for some of my posts
No one here has done that to me, but I just wanted to inform everyone of this issue because sometimes my posts can be confusing and sound ignorant when in fact if I were on a computer the posts would be better executed. :) sorry for any inconvenience I have or will cause.

message 4625: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Hi Vanessa,
No need to explain. We are very used to people posting from the app. I have never found your posts confusing or ignorant.
I mean, yes, when you first joined there was a mix up with the romance books, ;). But nobody will criticise you or ignore you because your posts aren't meticulously punctuated nor perfectly spelled.

And if someone did frown on you for something so simple as some auto corrects or mispellings, I would sort them out pretty quick. Our relaxed community atmosphere here is important to us.

Terri | 19576 comments As promised. The angry, Mr T.
(NB* he looks blind, but he is blinking)

message 4634: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Wee babies. :) (not the best pic. Mum gets rabid if I go near her. It makes the chickesn run frantically around. As they try to avoid her feet. It was hard to get a shot with them all standing still.
They'll stay in that cage for another day, while we build her a special pen to live with her babies.

message 4637: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I was just out checking on them. :) Refilled water (as Mum had tipped it over) and threw in some grass and grass seeds for them to scratch around in.

The chicks were loving life when I left them. Eating seeds, trying to eat the grass, sunning themselves and drinking water. Ahhh..it's a chickens life. :)

message 4638: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't think I want to mess with Mr T. :)

Goodness, no. I just edit my own comments. I guess it's because I'm a Virgo. :)

I wouldn't think of criticizing or ignoring someone else.
