happy (happyone) | 2782 comments Finally - we have appliances!!!!

There is still some finish work to do and a couple of the cabinet doors were not quite the right size, so they had to be redone, but we can start moving stuff back into the kitchen, and more importantly - it usable :)

I'll post some pics tomorrow or Friday if anyone is interested :D

Alice Poon (alice_poon) Good for you Ace! I was planning to read The Sunne in Splendour some time this year.

I'm nearing the end of Azincourt. Think I like it but not love it.

Edit: Sorry Ace - I misread your post. Good that you're sailing to yet another beautiful place! There'll be other courses...

message 14313: by Simona (new)

Simona | 1453 comments Wow Ace Azores are a stunning place! How is your wanderer life going?

message 14314: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) | 19 comments Thanks Alice and Simona we are very lucky to be sailing around.
The lifestyle is great. We have been learning our boat mostly amongst the travel. We started in Cape Town and have travelled through to Namibia, St Helena (British), Fernando De Noronha (Brazil), French Guiana, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and the Grenadines, St Lucia, Martinique (French), Nevis and St Kitts and are now in St Maarten (Dutch).

The Americas Cup is on at the moment in Bermuda so I hope we can find somewhere to anchor! I'm really looking forward to the Azores archipelago but its a looong voyage. Then we will plan more routes and rest a bit.

Terri | 19576 comments I'm back online. Well, I was back online a few days back, but the wifi was painfully slow and dropping out. Still is. I'm enduring it to try and touch base here.
Hoping to have it sorted by early next week.

Terri | 19576 comments Glad to be back folks. :) Telco tech coming Wednesday now. Hope to have super powerful wifi (with properly working router gosh darn it) by mid week.

message 14340: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Your cryptic post had me completely stumped too, Andy. :)

Just saw the news on the London Bridge Station attack. Those mad bastards are relentless.

message 14341: by Alice (new)

Alice Poon (alice_poon) Terri, "mad bastards" they are! What's the point of killing innocent people? Such a tragedy for Londoners. My heart goes out to those affected by these senseless killings.

message 14342: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments The senselessness. It makes me so angry.
They can't even defend their actions with their usual nonsense about Coalition and American bombs in Syria etc.. because ISIS kill their fellow muslim innocents in Syria, Iraq etc..

Mad bastards through and through.

message 14343: by Bobby (new)

Bobby (bobbej) | 1375 comments Not sure how true this is, but an ex-pat from London friend of ours, says after a recent trip to the U.K. that downtown London was primarily Muslim! Find that hard to believe but have not been there for many years. What hard times for England!

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 133 comments Alice wrote: "Terri, "mad bastards" they are! What's the point of killing innocent people? Such a tragedy for Londoners. My heart goes out to those affected by these senseless killings."

Unfortunately, the reaction is what IS is after and they are getting a massive response. I know the Media feels it is important to take the news to the World but we gave had over kill here in Australia.
It has not stopped being played on the news, very repetitively. The terrorists will only be encouraged by this media display, sadly. They are after notoriety and are getting it.

message 14345: by Bobby (new)

Bobby (bobbej) | 1375 comments The Muslim population in London has more than doubled between 2001 and 2011!!

Not correct. Yes, there is a muslim population, but to say the population of London is primarily muslim is crap.

Also, London doesn't have a "downtown" in the American sense of the word. It's hard to explain. The City of London (which is the old Roman city) would be the closest thing, but it has very little residential, in fact I think the Barbican complex is just about the only purely residential area of the City. In fact, a hell of a lot of the City doesn't open at weekends because there's no-one to open for.

message 14348: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments With you Laureen, the media coverage is ridiculous here in Australia. We need the news of course, but we don't need the intense and prolonged coverage.

I walk away from the news on tv and only check in for updates from the online newspaper I read. TV media is over the top.

Or I concentrate on the PBS Newshour. They are balanced and genteel and don't scream at you. Also, their commentators don't get into shouting matches with each other.

message 14350: by Margaret, Sherlockian Sheila (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments I'm getting my news on it from the Guardian newspaper's website. Fairly balanced coverage without a lot of rhetoric and bollocks.
