Terri | 19576 comments Oh yes. Love those Constables. Not only for the skill, but for capturing so many extinct pastoral scenes and village settings.

Simona | 1453 comments So Margaret...you'll be near. Why don't you do a little detour to Italy to say hello? :)

Terri | 19576 comments Haha. :-) Afraid they would have locked her in the Tower by now, mate.

Lia (lia_mb) | 638 comments Curious that Feast of Sorrow: A Novel of Ancient Rome pop up as on sale in my Goodreads' homepage. Somebody has been paying attention at our group's poll.

Terri | 19576 comments Ha. Isn't that interesting. That's for ebook?
Looks like it will win the poll too. So if it is cheap, buy folks! Somebody join me in the group read. Lol.
Although I've asked my library to buy it in, as the paper book was too expensive to buy.
I expect the library will get me the book before end of June, but I doubt it'll be in early June.

Printed book, hard cover. When clicked it, it brought me to Simon and Schuster USA website (US$17.70 at that time, down from US$26.99).

message 14263: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Lot cheaper than I can get the hardcover.
They need to release the paperback at the same time so more people can afford it.

Ace (aceonroam) | 19 comments Wow. That's a huge transformation. I love it. Did you put in a false ceiling?

Those floors are gorgeous. I recently put some in my apartment -they are fake wood (Its a rental) but they look pretty convincing.

message 14269: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) | 19 comments And thanks for catering to my impatience.

message 14270: by Alice (new)

Alice Poon (alice_poon) Nice remake happy. I like the concealed lights :)

message 14271: by happy (last edited May 14, 2017 07:47PM) (new)

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments No we didn't, we took out a drop ceiling in the kitchen proper. The bags in the gutted picture contain the insulation that came down when they pulled out drop ceiling.

In addition to the can lights, there will be a drop light over the sink, two over the peninsula/breakfast bar plus light strips under each of banks of cabinets.

Terri | 19576 comments Haha! I see that now. Had missed it. Avocado feature wall and floral wallpaper...it never goes out of fashion... :-D

message 14277: by happy (last edited May 16, 2017 01:02PM) (new)

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments Right out of the 70's - we never got around to repainting the kitchen or replacing the wall paper. We have redone most of the rest of the house.

message 14278: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments We've got areas like that, well, we HAD areas like that. Plenty of early 80's hangovers in our place and we are finally getting rid of them.

message 14279: by Simona (new)

Simona | 1453 comments I still have to replace the lights in my living room. we call them the "Don Diego de la Vega lights" (you know, Zorro?)....but I haven't found the right ones yet. They are quite horrible.

message 14280: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Lol! How long have you been living with your Don Diego de la Vega lights? :)

message 14281: by Simona (new)

Simona | 1453 comments Oh not long. Around 25 yrs, I'd say.

Ace (aceonroam) | 19 comments Hilarious Simona!

This morning scrolling through Facebook I came across this obituary http://obit.carnesfuneralhome.com/les...
I thought that's surely a joke so I went to check it out and its not a joke. Beautifully penned!

message 14283: by Simona (new)

Simona | 1453 comments I read it....so sad! Imagine to live a life in which NO ONE can find A SINGLE good thing to tell about you!

Terri | 19576 comments Omfg! That's a brazen obit! Haha! Hope they got to show the horrid man his obit before he died. Sounds like a good revenge for a lifetime of suffering at his hand. :)

Funny. I've known people like that. Maybe I'm a little slow, but I don't get the second from the last sentence. "Leslie's remains shall be cremated and kept in the barn until "Ray" the family donkey's wood shaving run out."

message 14289: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) | 19 comments I assumed that they poured his ashes into the barn floor to mop up the donkey poo.

He must have been a right a-hole.

Hard to predict if this is a good idea or a sellout?

I bought an old house to renovate once. Worst decision of my life.

Gee that's a brilliant idea. They can let these historic sites fall into piles of rubble, or they can give them away and have complete control over the sensitive restoration process.
Fab.
