Same here, Allie.
I didn't know who the Goblin King was when mentioned below, although I do remember there was a movie called labyrinth. Never saw it.
I always found him creepy. Didn't like looking at him.

Now there's one I mourn. *sniffle* I can't believe Lemmy is gone. Another icon, but a metal icon and one that matches my music tastes.

message 13503: by Andy (new)

Andy | 1511 comments At least they got to 70 or thereabouts..... my hero (Joe Strummer) only jus tipped in at 50, proper rocknroller lifestyle which amazes me with Lemmy (making it to 70) & also Iggy Pop whose still bouncing around.

I'd bring the wine but you already live in Italy.

I was only 5 when the 80s ended... so...not much of one lol.

I'm in if we can watch better movies lmao :D

Thank you Terri! It's terrible to comment on one's appearance but his face was scary and gave me the creeps too!

That's all everyone's posting on Facebook... "I'm listening to blah blah blah" right now

Blah.

message 13508: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) But really they are listening to 1D because they are so distraught about their impending breakup.

message 13509: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) Hey American friends, who else is buying Powerball tickets?
I won $7 on Saturday night so who knows what I could win tonight!
After consulting with a lawyer and financial planner when I win, the girls get ponies and this mom gets her own bookstore.

message 13510: by Allison (last edited Jan 13, 2016 03:19PM) (new)

Allison | 1704 comments Is 1D that one direction? Lololol.
I wouldn't know, I can't name any of their songs either.

I didn't buy any but my father promised I could go to Europe (with a hired bodyguard or no deal) for as long as I wanted and that both me and my sister would be set for life.

My bff said that her and I would go on a huge shopping spree in Europe and then come home to hockey season tickets for the rest of our lives.

So obviously I'm hoping one of them win :D

message 13511: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) I can't imagine one person winning all that money. $1.5 billion is just an insane amount.

message 13512: by Allison (new)

Allison | 1704 comments Ok both of them win :)

I'll get to go to Europe twice!

I might even get struck by lightning .................................. twice :)

Clare O'Beara | 139 comments Seriously? What a shame. Thanks.

message 13517: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) I saw that this morning. Apparently he had cancer too. I didn't even know. The Harry Potter movies drive me half insane but I have always thought the casting was spot on. Alan Rickman was fantastic in those movies. It took Mr. Gretchen longer to figure out who they were talking about on the news. I mentioned Die Hard and he got it.

message 13518: by Clare (new)

Clare O'Beara | 139 comments DeValera in 'Michael Collins'. I was there for the filming of some scenes including deValera standing up on a platform making a speech to a crowd.

message 13519: by May (new)

May (mayzie) | 968 comments That would have been impressive!!

message 13520: by Clare (new)

Clare O'Beara | 139 comments There were an estimated seven thousand of us extras and we stood fascinated as Alan Rickman delivered a run-through of the actual speech. On the next time we were to be cheering or jeering. When the actor finished we all applauded and he was actually taken aback and pleased, they do not get applause on a film set normally.

May (mayzie) | 968 comments Sounds like a great moment & a wonderful memory

Clare O'Beara | 139 comments I don't like to think how long ago....
We'd seen Rickman as Snape most recently with obviously dyed black hair, but in the most recent photos he was quite grey.

Now Alan Rickman has gone. :(

He brought Severus Snape alive for me.

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 133 comments NOT Alan Rickman! He was a top favourite if mine. Talk about character adaptation, he did it so well! Who could replace him in those roles?

Personally I think Keith Richards has been mummified whilst still alive...

message 13532: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments RIP Alan Rickman. I always liked him as an actor.

RE: powerball.
I think that is the one they have opened up to International customers. Australians are buying tickets in it.
I saw some mathematicians said people had something like a 1 in 224 million chance of winning.

I don't buy lotto tickets. Too much like gambling to me and I hate gambling.

Genetics is what its all about (for the most part) ....... mind the Ramones all had short innings & pretty much lived the rnr lifestyle

message 13534: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) They say that after the nuclear apocalypse, Keith Richards will be king of the cockroaches.

I don't have a problem with the Rolling Stones but seriously, whatever those guys are taking, I'll have four.

I forgot about that movie. I was going to put Robin Hood in before Mr. Gretchen gets home so we don't have to watch Die Hard.

Terri | 19576 comments I logged into Presto last night (which is a competitor over here for netflix) and in the Most Viewed array of titles I saw Labyrinth in first place.

Looks like the Presto community is getting sentimental for Bowie.

Watch the Alan Rickman list jump now.

Terri | 19576 comments True. Hadn't thought of that. Be interesting to see what the fans reach for on Presto.

message 13544: by Margaret, Sherlockian Sheila (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments Mmmm. Michael Collins, all the Harry Potter movies, Die Hard, Galaxy Quest.

I may have to pull the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy movie out over the weekend. It's the only one I have with Alan in it.

message 13545: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I was thinking Harry Potter would be the most popular due to having the broadest range of ages knowing the movies.

message 13546: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) Love Actually!! I need a reason to watch that movie outside of Christmas. It's so sappy and I don't even care. I'm a sucker for a sappy movie. Sappy books not so much but movies.....

message 13547: by happy (new)

He's the best thing about it - one of the best Sheriffs ever!
