We get those kind of earthquakes here in Utah all the time:)They keep telling us the "Big One" is overdue
We rarely get them, even though we are on the edge of a fault line.

That one is one of the best books I have read in years, in any genre' I can't stand other books by this author, but this one is pure genius.

I read Two of the whole bunch.
Been off for a week so I'm lumping my responses all in one post :D Reading Challenge: I'm on 196 of 200. I'm pretty sure I'll make it. Yay. BTW I have a LOT of time on my hands.
I'll have to try Perdido Street Station. I've read Un Lun Dunand thought it was just okay but I'm willing to give him another chance based on you guys raving about it.
I've read 4 and have 3 more marked to read on the winners list this year but overall I wasn't too impressed. I usually add about half to my TBR. Not this time.
We had 5...yes FIVE...minor earthquakes in two days over in Dallas last week. I'm so glad I live in Fort Worth. :D

Fingers crossed for your team, Bobby! We do not discuss the Egg Bowl. I, my son,and my niece took our law degree at Ole Miss, but everybody, except my sister and me, graduated from State. That makes our family some odd mongrel breed I guess. Perhaps a bull dog doing a Hotty Toddy cheer!Our first Christmas party is next Sunday. I would like to fit into my Christmas Clothes, but there is no way! If anyone else gets really down in the dumps about their weight during the season, talk to me. If anyone has a miracle solution (other than not eating), express mail it to me!

The Happy Family Christmas is off and running - Thursday we went to the Festival of Trees. It the main fund raiser for the local Childrens Hospital - about 800 trees were on display. Afterward we went and had Vietnamese food (Somehow that has become part of the tradition - I really don't know why or how:))link to a couple of web sites with pictures (I forgot the camera this year :()

I particularly like the pirate themed tree Happy! What a fun thing to take the kids to.
Carlos It is a pretty amazing book! I have never even heard of the author, I found it by accident almost...
But so rich! it is the literary version of being given a double cream desert when you were expecting a light salad! I love it but it takes so much out of me reading it.

They did but the Midwest girl/Minnesota Vikings/Cris Carter fan in me thinks Ohio State might deserve it a little more. They shutout Wisconsin with a third string QB.

Hate to say it, but the most "undeserving" team in the group is Florida State. Non impressive wins over mediocre teams and the weakest schedule of any top 10 team. I'm shocked at what Ohio State did to the Badgers. That has to be one of Wisconsin's worst drubbings ever!
I wanted Florida State to loose yesterday. I was really pulling for Georgia Tech. I have no desire to listen to either Jimbo Fisher or his above reproach QB for any amount of time leading up to the playoffs or a championship game.
As an Englishman I have absolutely no clue about American football, can someone please provide a brief synopsis of the escence of the game?
Score more points and hit harder than the other guys ;)
Why do they have those "time-outs" and why do they last so long? They make the game absolutely boring for me; total playing time seems minimal.
I would love to get into a detailed analysis about American football but I have to herd Angels, stable animals, and shepherds all afternoon

Rugby seems similar, but lacks the boring bits.
Bobby, do the tailgating thing right--a tent better than one Genghis Khan could put up, fine bone china, sterling silver flatware, chandiliered lighting and Dixie Cups! It has been a good ride for both teams this year. On the pro side, the best thing about the Saints game yesterday was the fight, and Tom Brady was obviously saying something naughty from the bench in the last game they lost. I am considering leaving football for rugby, or soccer, or NASCAR!

Sorry I have been away for the last four days or so everyone. My hubby was unwell and I had to tend him and to do all the chores around the place for both of us. (farm jobs and around the house jobs that are usually split between us, he hasn't been able to help with, so I have been super busy..plus all the Christmas Shopping! :)..).Will be back amoung you tomorrow. (my tomorrow..Wednesaday) And will do the polls then too.

Kimber needs the smelling salts quickly! It's a toss up between NASCAR and drag racing, but NASCAR is more cultured and refined and more elitist than drag racing. You don't need a friend--just walk up to a tailgater and schmooze your way in. After all the mint juleps that crowd has imbibed, they will think you are one of them!

Thanks Lisa, Linda and Margaret. He's doing much better. He got a deep vein thrombosis in his calf muscle. Had to take it easy for a while until the blood thinners kicked in. Poor bugger has to inject himself twice in the tummy every morning.He's so brave. I couldn't do that. :(

Glad they caught it in the leg & it didnt get to the lungs, thats when they get a bit pesky :( & Klexane too until the INR gets to the right level - make sure you hold the needle at right angles & depress slowly - less bruising that way plus it dont sting so much ;) Also did they give him a compression stocking? if not get one prescribed as they're great & take a lot of the pain off the leg, although not the best of looks for fellahs! Take it easy tell him!
