The paperback version was released in September if I am not mistaken. I was able to get a copy from my library system when we read it for the group read.

Margaret wrote: "Yeah I was just looking. A load of complete crap. I haven't read a single one of them."I was just impressed that I knew who a quarter of the authors were, that's better than usual...

I guess they go by Popular. I'd guess many folks have read them only because of the ads on here. Very few even interested me and I've only read one or two from all the lists total.
Even the girls are saying the choices are too girly, how think we're making of the choices on offer!I tried voting for one.....
which is apparently inelligible.... like twas last year too i think. :(
They wouldn't let me write in
in histfic. I'm wondering if they have a space for write-ins just to go thru the motions, then disqualify everything...

is that one published in the US, Andy?
Jane wrote: "They wouldn't let me write in

I think there must be a lot of people voting in and not realising it has to be published in the US during a certain time frame.I saw heaps of Giles Kristian fans wre on his Facebook page saying they are doing vote in votes for his new release God of Vengeance. Giles is encouraging them. I am pretty sure that one hasn't been released in the US yet and they are all wasting their votes.
Some have said that are voting for the new Cornwell, The Empty Throne. that is another one that isn't released in the US until next year.
GR should put a bold notification above the write in vote window to say the books must be published in the US between such and such a date to be elligible.
here are the Eligibility Rules for the Awards.Books published in the United States in English, including works in translation and other significant rereleases, between November 17, 2013, and November 15, 2014, are eligible for the 2014 Goodreads Choice Awards. Books published between November 16, 2014, and December 31, 2014, will be eligible for the 2015 awards.
We analyze statistics from the millions of books added, rated, and reviewed on the site in 2014 to nominate 15 books in each category. Opening round official nominees must have an average rating of 3.50 or higher. Write-in votes may be cast for eligible books with any average rating, and write-in votes will be weighted by the book’s number of ratings to determine the top five books to be added as official nominees in the Semifinal Round. A book may be nominated in no more than one genre category, but can also be nominated in the Goodreads Author category. Only one book in a series may be nominated per category. An author may receive multiple nominations within a single category if he or she has more than one eligible series or more than one eligible stand-alone book.

Happy & Lia have read it (in 2014) so am guessing a YES to that but there again....
Hardcover, 577 pages
Published August 6th 2013 by Doubleday
Maybe shoulda complained last year :(
Well this is a pain. Now Goodreads is slipping book recommendations into my updates feed. Isn't it enough to put recommendations everywhere else I look on GR?
The bugger of the recommendations thing is that if I go and untick all the boxes in the area I ticked favourite genres in many years ago, GR will then send me random recs of their choosing.
*grumble, grumble*
I am not having the recommendations problem but my computer won't show me my notifications. I get the notice saying there are new notifications but when I click the circle the drop down menu won't show up. No problems on my phone though.
Gretchen wrote: "I am not having the recommendations problem but my computer won't show me my notifications. I get the notice saying there are new notifications but when I click the circle the drop down menu won't ..."Ah, that's always a fun one.
Dawn wrote: "I haven't seen any in my updates feed yet. I think they just test things out on you!"Wahhh!! :( may be something that is rolled out to GR feedback members again.

Have had that for days now & its all like books i WOULD never read, if I see anotehr Jack reacher book.... i'll Grrrrr Gnash Grrrrr
The closest I've come to reading a Jack Reacher novel is when it use to be my job to shelf new releases at Target.
Terri wrote: "Jane wrote: "They wouldn't let me write in

Slipping recommendations in my feed: I've had them for awhile and just ignore them.
Terri wrote: "I'm pleased at least to see others getting recs on their feed. :)"Did anyone note the ones on the list were all advertised over and over ad nauseum to the right? So sure, more people read ad rated them. I bet the people who have this list are trying to see how effective their ads are.
'Wake up, Maggie, I think I've got something I want to say....' I saw the movie GOOD WILL HUNTING on TV Sunday night and loved it! I am late to the party about Robin Williams, but he and Matt Damon were excellent! I had never seen that movie before. Knowing that Robin Williams suffered mentally in life made his movie role so real! When he and Damon got caught up in a funny story and laughed themselves silly, the fact that I do not share Matt Damon's politics did not matter any more. I saw that same infectious laugh in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN when he told the story about the homely girl who fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch coming down.About politics: Republicans have a good right to feel rather funky today! Maggie, go on back to sleep now.
Next person who says "Remember, remember......" and tells me it's only from a move is going to get a history book thrown at them. Maybe I need more coffee.
Robin wrote: "Margaret wrote: "I LOATHE Jack bloody Reacher!"What's up with Reacher? why do you hate him so much?"
I find the character annoying and irritating with no redeeming features whatsoever.
Gretchen wrote: "Next person who says "Remember, remember......" and tells me it's only from a move is going to get a history book thrown at them. Maybe I need more coffee."Interestingly, in New Zealand it wasn't "remember, remember" the rhyme went
Please do remember

Should ever be forgot.

The old historical mystery is different to historical fiction issue raises its ugly head. Why can they not understand that Historical 'Fiction' is the genre and 'Mystery' (if the book is in an historical setting) is the sub genre.
I suppose maybe because they have included a mystery 'genre' that all mystery sub genres from other genre families all get lumped together there.
Completely passed by the Goodreads choice blah blah email GR sent me... but hello everyone! I moved over the weekend and just now got internet service back. Yay! I went way too long with out it... had to sneak in a few minutes (hours) at work :)Margaret: Have you heard the news? Are you ok? Do you need Kleenex and chocolate sent to you? (her Benedict Cumberbatch announced his engagement)
I started getting text messages at 10pm Aussie time breaking the news to me. I'm like, I'm 49, not bloody 14, and my head is screwed on straight. I am not about to start weeping and wailing and gnashing my teeth because a man 10 years my junior is getting married.

New Zealand still celebrates Guy Fawkes day. Australia doesn't.
