Darcy, I admire the patience involved in that kind of work. I tried cross stich, I can assure you the back looked nothing like the front, haha. I have stuck to knitting.

Thanks for the tips re IOS everyone. I never hook my ipad up to the computer! Should I? Weird the way it changes back to ios 8.1! It doesn't effect the way it works right now, and as look as my Kobo app and GR works, I might wait for the next update. Thanks though! :)

That is true, isn't it. I'm a bit computer retarded, so I'm always a bit gun shy, in case I break something, haha.

This one has different stitches, including multiple strands of floss of different colours. Plus usually, a pattern calls for all the crosses to be either 2 strands for the whole project or 3 for the whole project (not including the finishing stitches). This one here, has anywhere from 1-6 strands per stitch. I nearly choked. On the other hand, it will be gorgeous if I don't bugger it.
On wow Darcy! It sure will. I would have found those instructions, definitely choked, then found someone to do it for me, haha. The framing will be important with that one, to highlight the strong colours. I look forward to seeing that when it's finished, Darcy. It will be lovely.Isn't that wonderful how restrained our Andy is! I love how you gently worded that Darcy! Lol
Nice project Darcy. The 1-6 stands will give it some great definition. I've never done a project that had those instructions though and I can imagine it is frustrating!I've done the ones with beads and fuzzy or glittery thread and they can also be quite annoying.

Whenever someone suggests a project with metallic thread I run away.

I can just envision the conversation with the Custom's Officer now
Officer: Why are visiting Italy?
Me: I'm not really visiting Italy, I'm visiting a friend
Officer: Where does your friend live?
Me: At the asylum
Officer: Why do you want to visit your friend????
Me: I brought her an orange
Officer: You flew all the way from Canada to bring an orange?
Me: Yup
Officer: ...
Me: It's not the craziest thing I've ever done :D

We spent the afternoon watching two adult humpback whales playing and teaching a baby. There were about three pods out there, but these were the most active. By the time we left there was a little crowd. I love that we can still be awed by these creatures, young and old. They were so close even the toddlers new exactly what they were. Just beautiful.
I really don't want to go into college today, as my football team lost to a rival and their fans will rip me in two. BTW the match was a derby. So what this means for the uniniciated is that, Manchester United Played a team called Manchester City. So a derby is when two teams from the same city play. There happened to be a large contingent of City fans in my college, so I'll be outnumbered by all the gloating city fans.

I didn't select any of the given options, I added my choice of A Burnable Book in.

I haven't read enough of this year's new releases to be able to vote fairly. My favorite part of these book list posts are the comments at the bottom. "Why wasn't ..... book included on the list? It's my favorite book every." Because said book was not published in 2014 and as the title of the post along with the post itself make pretty clear, this is a 2014 list. Social media has helped me learn to bite my tongue.

Wow you learn something new every day. The only Japanese word I know is karate.
Maybe if I start a poll for the worst books of 2014. You're safe from me throwing things. The twins have decided it's fun to throw things at each other so we have to watch the throwing around here. I should be some sort of example I suppose.
happy wrote: "It also the Japanese word for Cherry Blossom..."AND the name of a good 30 per cent of japanese/chinese restaurants in Italy. Sensei, two california rolls please...nah, doesn't sound good

*groan* I just logged in and saw the banner at the top of the screen. I was avoiding even looking at the options because they always offend me.
I am going to write in a vote for A Burnable Book too!!! Thanks for reminding me Darcy!!
A Burnable Book? Um...no I preferred Kingdom. I wouldn't vote for Kingdom though because my feelings towards it are based on my having read the two books before it. As a stand alone. It is not better than A Burnable Book.
Probably not. I'm aiming for the beginning of next year; I have to finish the second one first. hehe
I don't get how they come by their choices in the hist fic category.I had a look at one of the books randomly. Doll Baby or something like that. It has been added by about 9500 people. Whereas A Burnable Book has been added by over 12000.
I am going to guess that A Burnable Book has been added more times than most of the books in that category.
Why then, does it not make it into the selections???
I always assumed that they chose the most added hist fic books. Apparently not.
I'm thinking it's some combination of average rating and shelf adds and times read?? But have never been clear on their exact formula.
