Doggone right!! :) Well, I guess I didn't do too bad for a Yank! Being in A&M sure helped, though.

Hey Margaret, how many Alzheimer's patients does it take to change a light bulb?

I've been watching the footage of the grieving mother whose son was on the flight.

Damn. 8 out of 10. One was a mistake on my behalf though. :)
For this question: Which English king was known as ‘The Hammer of the Scots’?
(view spoiler)

The one I just got clean wrong was the first one.

I'm almost scared to say I don't know the answer, cos I expect it's going to be bad. LOL.

Am feeling slightly smug about the nettles.

message 7312: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) Another quiz, much easier this time. Which Dewey Decimal Category are you??

http://content.easybib.com/which-dewe...

I got the 900's - Geography, History, and Biographies! So, you're a social studies buff, huh? When you were a kid, you probably loved gazing at maps and you still do! You enjoy learning about historical events - anything related to wars, catastrophes, civilizations, presidents, you name it, history is your thing!

message 7313: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 728 comments Definitely lucky guess for me, lol, Terri. 7 out of 10, I need to read more Kane perhaps. My roman history is a bit sad.

I'm 900's too Dawn, haha.

message 7314: by Allison (new)

Allison | 1704 comments I'm in the 900 club too!

Although half the answers weren't really me. I had to pick the lesser of 6 evils in most.

message 7315: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (drokka) | 2675 comments I got the 600s (applied sciences) and the description was completely not me, except the animal lover bit. Like Allie most of the options weren't anything I'd normally pick. The film options for one. I wouldn't watch any of those films.

message 7316: by Allison (new)

Allison | 1704 comments I couldn't pick a film option either. Yuck.

I got 800s- Literature. Sounds about right. That was so much more fun than the BuzzFeed quizzes my friends keep sending me links to. Except the Batman quizzes. I love Batman.

Terri | 19576 comments The news is saying that they may have found wreckage of the Malaysia plane in the southern Indian Ocean. Satellite found it and the Aussie and US military are sending spy planes there to check it out.

I was hoping the Indian Ocean theory was the wrong one. Wanted the plane to have been stolen, because that means the passengers might be alive. :(

I got the 600s too. Some of those questions don't have answers for me. Like darcy, the movie one had nothing I would watch. the music one didn't have anything for me either. I picked REM, but I would rather not listen to that song.
The description is nearly all wrong. I like cooking and yes I would buy my favourite car if I won the lottery (didn't I say as much in the question that asked what would you buy if you won the lottery?), but the rest is off...this bit
"Taking care of your body is important to you and you recognize the benefits of eating well and exercise. You love pets and are a sucker for heading into pet stores to check out the puppies and kittens."

I do see the benefits of exercise and eating well, but I don't spend much time thinking about it unless I feel I am not getting enough exercise and healthy food.
I don't love pets. I love my dogs and my budgie, but that's it. I certainly don't go into pet stores for anything but to see if they have dog snacks on special.

message 7320: by Jesse (new)

Jesse 200's...Religion & Mythology, as a youth minister that seems accurate overall. Here's my description: You are spiritual and believe strongly in religion. You believe in charity and enjoy making the world a better place! Mythology intrigues you and you enjoy the stories of the gods!

message 7324: by Linda (new)

Linda (ladylawyer8650) | 1702 comments Hit the wrong button. Sorry. I will finish my story. First part is below.
Second part: Nook on one side and ASUS on other. One of the gentlemen of the group suggested that if I were not careful I would be having little Kobos. I failed to take adequate protection and now have a little Samsung smart phone, born March 18, 2014, two o'clock in the afternoon, weighing six ounces (I made up the weight), eight inches long and blue in color (it's a boy)!
I really wanted a little Kobo, but I am bonding with the Samsung and wouldn't change a thing. I will from now on take better precautions because the reading bed is full of books and gadgets.

You really do have a lot of technoloy now, Linda. Goodness, when we first met you only had a computer and it irked you day and night. :)

message 7328: by Andy (new)

Andy | 1511 comments You got 700's - Art and Recreation! You love those leisure activities! You appreciate art and theater and could spend your Sunday either at a museum or seeing a cool show. Your idea of an awesome Friday night is heading to a concert or sporting event with your closest friends. You love watching live and televised sporting events and when it's football season, you get decked out in your team's colors!

Ok to the sport but ART..... Moi! lol

Dream occupation was like....??!!

Defo needed some more options too & did an "Allie" :) mind how could you not pick "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" on the film?!!?

message 7329: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I picked Fast and the Furious. :\ I didn't mind the first movie in that series...and when I say 'didn't mind' what I really mean is, compared to the other options, it was the only one that I 'didn't mind'. The rest I did not like at all.

I picked the same one for the same reason haha

message 7332: by Allison (new)

Allison | 1704 comments I picked F&F because its one of my best friends favorites and I picked her so my reasoning seemed perfectly sensible to me :)

message 7333: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) I picked Fast & Furious because I actually liked the movie!! Go figure! :D

message 7334: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Now the closet F&F watchers are starting to come out of the woodwork.
It is my embarrassing secret that nobody should ever have known. :D

Allison | 1704 comments I dont ever intend to watch it.

message 7336: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Mar 20, 2014 08:02PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I have been watching the news channels the last couple days to keep abreast of the Malaysia plane mystery.
A couple times the American news channels Fox News and CNN have made me giggle with their whoopsies concerning my country.

I even said to my hubby last night that "at least the plane mystery means that America knows where we are now". :) (sorry to my American friends. It is a lighthearted joke and I know YOU GUYS at least know where my country is..:)..).

Then today I see that I am not the only one to have noticed the gaffs.
This story in the Courier Mail - which showed up in my google alerts with this sub headline "AS the world turns its attention to Australia, American news outlets are making all sorts of hilarious errors about the faraway land Down Under." - is our State's major newspaper. (You will see our Aussie humour in alll its glory..special emphasis on the funny captions that go with the images :)..)
http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/am...

NB* Ignore the video that is at the top of the article. It is on the plane mystery and not on the article.

message 7337: by Allison (new)

Allison | 1704 comments Ha! And I can't get a job! I at least know where Australia is lol.

Grr. Makes us look so incompetent. First, not knowing (as journalists!) the facts and secondly, not checking/proof reading reports before going on air. We really are dumb.

message 7338: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Mar 20, 2014 08:04PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments hahaha! It's all so funny.

The story on our bushfires earlier this year with our country engulfed in flames got us all laughing over here at the time. :D

(Maybe you should send Fox News your resume and tell them 'I hear you are desperately in need of a geographical fact checker) ;)

message 7339: by Allison (new)

Allison | 1704 comments That's a great idea! I will let them know I'm an excellent historical quiz taker too ;)

message 7340: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments To Year 7 level at least. :D

They just need to not ask questions about Romans and nettles...

message 7341: by Allison (new)

Allison | 1704 comments I'm pretty sure most here don't know about either!! So I'm safe :D

message 7342: by Margaret, Sherlockian Sheila (last edited Mar 20, 2014 08:13PM) (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments I think half the problem is the fact that only 10% of the population of the USA has passports... this means a staggering 90% of Americans have never left their own country! Not even to visit their nearest neighbours Canada and Mexico.

Somewhere in that 90% are many of America's reporters and news anchors I suspect. :p

message 7343: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Mar 20, 2014 08:15PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I'd say you would be safe, Allie.
And if you had to fact check on Australia and nettles, just know that it was the British who came here...not the Romans..and our nettle species are native not introduced. :]

A little bit of useless knowledge you may need for future history quizzes.

Hey Margaret, that's is a very cool statistic. Do you also happen to know what percentage of Aussies have passports? I suspect it would be high. Aussies tend to run rampant throughout the world.

message 7345: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) I know 70% of Canadians have a passport.

Yup. We're amongst the most traveled and cosmopolitan people of the world. 90% of Australians have a passport. Total inversion of the US statistic.

message 7348: by [deleted user] (new)

Fox News is a total joke. It's a fascist news network that is embarrassing to our country. Geez...I'd love to be wealthy enough to have a passport & travel the world. But, there is a huge gap between the haves & have nots in this country. We don't take care of our own. I have been to Mexico, so I guess I'm in the minority...didn't need a passport though. You Aussies & Canadians are so cool. ;)

message 7349: by Mark (new)

Mark | 1885 comments Also the fox network owner is from australia, wonder if he cares that his reporters and news anchors have made these mistakes.

message 7350: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Brumback | 85 comments Derek is right about Fox News and CNN isn't a whole lot better. But the sad thing is that so many Americans dote on Fox News, watch it all day, and never watch anything else, let alone read a newspaper. When I go into my gym, Fox is always on with lots of people watching. Many Americans consider it cool to be shall we say not very smart. There is little respect for learning and/or intelligence in many sectors. Just remember how popular Sarah Palin was/is. They still have her speak at GOP conferences. I tell you, it's scary. George W Bush was an idiot, and he got elected twice! He made a comment about how even a C- student can be president, of course that wasn't the worst or the most stupid comment, just one that supports my point here ;-). What an example to set for young people. Education has really deteriorated here in the last 20 years. As I said, it's scary as hell. But I do go on, and on, and on. Sorry.
