Along Came a Spider
question
Where could I begin reading the Alex Cross series?

Hi. I have seen the first two movies about the Alex Cross series, but now find that I would like to jump in somewhere in the series and begin reading. Not really sure that I want to begin all the way back at the beginning.
Can someone recommend a good book in the series to begin reading from that point forward. As time permits, I may try to read the others, but right now I want to start somewhere.
Thanks

I love the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. If you want to do it right (IMHO) start the series at the beginning with Along Came a Spider. That way you will meet new characters as they appear ... and may reappear in future books. I use a great website called Fantastic Fiction: http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/
to look up authors and it will list all their works in series and publication order ... that way I know which book is the next in the series...

Along Came a Spider is first and Kiss the Girls is the next one. Alex Cross is a great dectective series.
I love Alex Cross - but I had started the Women's Murder Club series first - so I now feel like I need to finish one series at a time...
Along Came a Spider 1st. Go to FantasticFiction.com and type in James Patterson, it will give you the list of Alex Cross books in order.
I've read all the alex cross books except for the newest one and i would definitely recommend starting with the first book-along came a spider (the movie had many differences from the book especially with regard to the villain gary soneji). the movie kiss the girls was similar to the book so if you've seen that movie then you can skip that book. in my opinion the first 4 books are the best in the series.
You really should start at the beginning. In my opinion most of the earlier books are the best. Having said that I also enjoyed the later ones all of which have "Cross" in the title.
James Patterson is one of the best authors and Alex Cross is the best character ever. You should start at the beginning because some of the villians comeback in later books and Alex has several different jobs along the way (DC Police; FBI; Metronome PD; etc.). You won't be disappointed.
I agree with the other posts, start with Along Came a Spider, and continue with the rest of the series. i read them out of order, until I could get on track.

Hi,
I agree with those who have advised you to start at the beginning of the "Cross" series. I actually stopped reading them after Mary, Mary. I was just burned out and switched over to the "Womens Murder Club" then I switched to his "Michael Bennett "Private" and series. So I don't know if I will ever get back to the Cross books. So good luck with your choice.

I agree start with Along came a spider then read them in order. Thanks Cindi for the fantastic fiction website. I'm sure I'll find it very useful.
This author is awful, in my opinion
