Seriously though, when I get like that, I'll read a book of short stories, usually funny. Celia Rivenbark, Dave Barry, Bill Bryson, Erma Bombeck. That usually works - plus, you don't have to finish the book in one whack. You can put it aside and read small snippets between books.

Shannon, it could be the books you are reading. I found that I thought I had no desire to read, but I just had the wrong stack of books. Have you tried Europa Editions? they have some great books.
I'm in a funk too. I pick up books that I'm normally interested in or on my TBR list and I just cant get into anything. I've been trying shorter books or novellas. Usually I break out of any funk but just reading the threads here on what people are reading and just finishing and other hot book discussions. If there is a lot of buzz around something that sometimes helps me.

Good luck!

I concur! Watch a few hours of TV and you'll have NO problems picking up quality literature again! LOL

I'm with Jayme...I don't think I've ever been in a reading funk where I didn't feel like reading. It seems to me, though that the advice about taking a break is good, though...why force it if you don't feel into it?
