I bought the Quartet I think in last years sale - Mortal Engines being the first book.
Its a childrens story , I'd put it in the same bracket as Philip Pullman and JK Rowling as books that have depth.
Set in a future world where Traction Cities roam, its an adventure story that grabbed me so much I read all 4 books one after the other and have now started the first of the two prequels.
Its very imaginative - one idea I particularly liked was an archaeologist discovering that the Ancient Americans worshipped animal-headed gods of Mouse and Duck.
I heard that Peter Jackson will direct a film - hope so, as I would like to see how they adapt it.
