Has anyone read any good books about self-publishing?
* This is not the place to promote your book.

George Hamilton | 7 comments The problem you may find here is that things are changing so fast, that many of the books on self-publishing become quickly outdated. But 2 that I got some useful information from over 18 months ago were:

POD for Profit - Aaron Shepherd

Are you still submitting your book to a traditional publisher - Edward C. Patterson ( think this used to be available as free download on Smashwords)

Tim Taylor (timctaylor) | 35 comments I recommend 'The path to self-publishing success' by Michael R. Hicks, and 'Let's Get Digital' by David Gaughran. Both are primarily about eBooks.

Susan There are a couple of guides from Smashwords.
Smashwords Style Guide by Mark Coker
Smashwords Book Marketing Guide by Mark Coker

They're geared to Smashwords publishing (duhhh) but they are easy to read and illustrated with printscreens so you know how it should look- easy breezy!

T.T. Thomas (ttthomas) | 1 comments I read and really liked The Global Indie Author by M.A. Demers
The Global Indie Author How Anyone Can Self-Publish in the U.S. and Worldwide Markets by M.A. Demers

I liked it because I am NOT technically astute, and this book covered complex subjects in an easy to understand manner. You literally could publish a book in a few hours following this book. (I suggest everyone should take a bit longer than a few hours, BUT you could if you wanted to).

Another advantage this author offers are continual updates to the book on her blog. This is really important because the industry is changing so quickly. Plus, I happen to know if you have a specific question, you can contact Demers on her blog, and she is very generous with info. You'll get your money's worth with this one.
