One gas filled balloon and a woman falls through space. Jumped or pushed. Who knows? Certainly not Gina, driven insane by hot air too thick to see through.
But meet Corinne, the well-being counsellor, battling the fog of her own abuse and Beatrice, forensic psychiatrist deep in the liminal world of bereavement. Only the women who've been there can reach into the scary shadows thrown up by gaslighting.
We are all the other woman some of the time. If women get over being gaslit by sharing stories, this is the one for them: a story of love, grief, betrayal, abuse and girl's comics. A story that in these times of so called equality, throws the shame and self-blame that's at an all-time high, back at the charismatics who cause it. Never mind genre. Who wouldn't want a novel that can bust you out of madness?
Powered by faith, friendship and The Bunty, The Fantasist's Assistant swings a searchlight over Aleister Crowley, lightweight counselling and credible liars and moves on, leaving them cowering in the dark where they belong.

If you didn't know what was real when you started this book, you will by the time you finish.
Please notify me if you'd like a PDF free copy. I need reviews. FantasistAssist@counselling-southwest.co.uk
Feel free to look me up here or on Amazon to see if this is your sort of book. It's not really a genre book but it is fiction.

Karen A. Wyle (kawyle) | 9 comments I'd love to get some reviews of The Decision, a novel that tries to explain an unlikely, and possibly lifesaving, decision.

It is autumn of 1938, in Hitler’s Germany, in the capital city of Berlin, perhaps a month before the devastating anti-Jewish violence of Kristallnacht. Three Jewish boys have received new bicycles — because their family has, with difficulty, arranged to leave Germany, and they will not be allowed to take much cash with them. Two of the boys are experienced bicyclists, but the youngest is less so. On a downtown street, the latter’s lack of skill causes an accident. The traffic policeman on the scene wears, just visible under his uniform, the brown shirt of a member of Hitler's storm troopers.

It's no spoiler -- because this scene begins the novel -- to say that this Nazi policeman let the boys go, even ordering them to "DISAPPEAR."

The boys were my father and uncles.

Why did the policeman make the choices he did? What life did he live that led him to make them? The novel imagines possible answers to those questions.

You can read a generous sample at https://www.amazon.com/Decision-Novel.... Please email me at kawyle@att.net if you're interested. Thanks!

A destiny she never chose. A fate she can’t escape.

In the thousand-year aftermath of the Great Cataclysm, Princess Alira Verbrandt lives in the shadow of her siblings’ political prowess and military might. She savors her life’s scholastic tranquility, until the Illyrian Empire marches against her family, declaring war against the southern kingdoms.

On the eve of battle, Alira is unveiled as the scion of a human bloodline that fought alongside Aten in his rebellion against the Archon of Shadows. The revelation of her lineage, alongside the waking of lights and shadows re-ignites a war which has transcended time.

Now, Alira must reforge the old southern alliance to counter the looming threat of Illyria, all while keeping watch on the stars. A forgotten prophecy entwines with her fate, setting her on a path to ready the world for Zeion's final judgment.

Unite the Fates. Awaken Aten. Finish what we started.

Hi there,
I started seriously doubting if the Goodreads Giveaways work at all. Now, I am running my third one, and after blowing several hundred dollars and giving away a lot of books (both physical copies and ebooks), I still haven't gotten even a single review from there. The fact that over 4000 readers have shelved my books does not seem to matter either, at least in terms of sales. So, here is my last hope to address my eventual reviewers. If you are a fan of action/adventure and mystical suspense historical fiction, you can download my book The Savage from Booksprout (https://booksprout.co/reviewer/review...) or send me an email at krisnedy@gmail.com and I will send you the ebook.

Iva Dimitrova (httpswwwfacebookcomid524) | 8 comments Hello,
A few days ago, I published my first book. I hope it catches your interest—the genre is contemporary fiction, psychological literary fiction. I would be delighted if you're willing and able to take a look at it, and even more so if you enjoy it and write a review. I can provide you with a copy through Prepaid eBook from Amazon, or if you use Kindle Unlimited, it's available for free.

The title of the book is "I didn't mean to, but...". It is a story about redemption and the unpredictable repercussions of even the smallest choices. A novel blending elements from various genres, interwoven with social and philosophical themes that explore the enigmatic nature of humanity. The characters, driven by circumstances and personal ambitions, reach the limits of their mental resilience and belief in the healing of their emotional wounds. The fates of these unyielding, complex personas are entwined in a dynamic and multilayered plot. Drawn by their desires towards a stormy confrontation with a domino effect, each faces difficult, life-affirming choices and undergoes their own personal catharsis.
The story is set in Bulgaria, and although it doesn't directly and comprehensively address the topic, the effects of the transition from communism to democracy—marked by the rise of corruption and criminal groups—are reflected in the narrative and characters. These influences have already left a mark on the national psyche.

If you're curious about the book:

Elena Perella | 4 comments Hi everyone,

I have written a book on my personal experience of domestic violence: Mirror. Breaking chains: seeing myself in my abuser’s eyes.

Set in a small village in Sardinia, my story spans a ten-year period during which I navigate through an abusive relationship with a narcissistic psychopath. I finally came to the understanding that we both carried emotional baggage that made us reproduce the same toxic experiences that our parents, relatives, and caregivers had gone through.

“Mirror” is a true story of love, determination, and strength, filled with raw emotion and gut-wrenching heartbreak.

I wrote it as a testament to the fact that it’s not our fault if we find ourselves in such relationships, and that we can break free if we understand the underlying reasons. Abuse can end with us if we have the courage to confront it, preventing our children from enduring the same experiences.

Parents who had difficult childhoods, whether they are aware of it or not, predispose their children to trauma. We must be honest with ourselves and explore our inner world to heal before deciding to start a family.

Let me know if you are interested, and I will send you a copy.

Thanks for reviewing my book. I would appreciate it if you shared your thoughts with me. Please send me your comments at:

Sincerely,
Elena

Hi, I'm looking for ARC readers for my first poetry book, "Behind the Ghost Metropolis".

"GOOD GRIEF" X SYLVIA PLATH X ANNE SEXTON

"You may start your journey in the dark but if you keep going, you will see the hidden light."

My poetry collection reflects the darker side of the mind - mental health, trauma, loneliness, but also hope, travel, and strength.

It shows my struggle with bipolar disorder and attempts to make something of myself against all odds. Written during my manic and depressive episodes, the poems are both realistic and personal.

I wrote the poetry to stop the stigma of mental illness and to show people who may feel like they're doomed and lost, that they can't give up - there's always hope for a better life.

It’s for all of us who have been beaten down, dragged through the mud, and abandoned at some point. It’s for modern rebels, seekers, loonies, and those who are lost or find solace in realistic writing.

Hi Ifra,

I am an indie author looking to increase the reviews of my debut novel Forbidden Being, published October 15, 2024 (Barns & Noble coming soon). It is a Sci-fi Fantasy and Paranormal Romance (with historical elements) about a dying vampire who must make the right decisions to secure the future rebellion within the last human colony.
Forbidden Being is about a vampire who has reached his inevitable end but before he goes out, he ushers in a new rebellion against the false deity who claims to be the almighty god. When the book starts, Ana is very determined, everything is aligned for perfect chaos and then he sees a ghost from his past, a splinter of his lost humanity. Is it a hallucination brought on by his condition? No, she is real and he must cope with the fact things are repeating but soon he learns it is an opportunity to accomplish what they could not centuries ago. The book goes into multiple povs to uncover the mystery of their relationship, their past, and their future.

Ciara Turner | 7 comments Hey everyone!

My holiday romance book will be out on Dec 23. It's a short and sweet read with a nod to some classic Christmas movies! 🎄❄

Here's the blurb:

Meet Savannah, a nurse and the biggest fan of Christmas movies

All I wanted for Christmas was a quiet break in my hometown of Hollyridge after the worst breakup ever. I definitely didn’t ask for Dale Jackson—the grumpy film critic who ruined my blind date last year—to show up and crash my holiday. He’s stubborn, sarcastic, and claims Die Hard is the ultimate Christmas movie. (Seriously?) But somewhere between gingerbread house disasters, twinkling lights, and slow dances under the snow, I’m starting to see a different side of him… and it’s making my heart do ridiculous things.

Then There's Dale...

I don’t believe in Christmas magic. Or romance. Or small-town charm. But when my sister drags me to Hollyridge, I run into Savannah Carter—the cheerful, sentimental nurse who thinks It’s a Wonderful Life is cinematic perfection. We clash over everything, but somehow, her sunshiney attitude starts to wear me down. Now I’m buying ornaments, dancing in the snow, and wondering if maybe—just maybe—she’s right about love, second chances, and believing in a little Christmas magic after all.

A heartwarming holiday romance full of laughter, twinkle lights, and the unexpected magic of falling in love.

George Bachman | 26 comments My horror novella titled Second Coming will be available on January 2 on Amazon.

Blurb:

In this dark fable set in Victorian England, seven-year-old heiress Melissa Hawthorne is confronted with loneliness when she is uprooted from her comfortable countryside existence to a London boarding school, where headmistress Miss Gradine flatters her while harboring jealousy and dislike. A dislike that balloons into open hostility when Melissa's father loses his fortune and dies tragically, leaving her a penniless charity pupil completely at Miss Gradine's mercy. Little does she know that being made a servant cruelly treated by both staff and fellow pupils will be the least of her worries, as a nameless horror begins to stalk her through the school halls, something pushing through reality's thin surface to consume her. When her brutal circumstances begin to merge with the uncanny, Melissa, left all alone in the world, must find a way to escape both before they destroy her.

If this sounds like something that might capture your interest, I can email you an ePub, Mobi or PDF copy. It will also be available on Kindle.

Jon Byrne | 2 comments Hi everyone,

I am looking for reviewers for my debut book. It is a medieval adventure novel, Sword Brethren, that has just been published by The Book Guild in paperback and ebook format. Here you can find it on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Set in the early 13th century, Sword Brethren is an epic coming-of-age adventure that sees its hero, Richard, dispossessed of his inheritance and forced to flee England for Lübeck. Here he joins the Livonian Brothers of the Sword as they embark on a mission to convert the pagans of the eastern Baltic in a new life of prayer, danger and duty. The story is told by Richard – now in middle age – to Prince Alexander Nevsky of Novgorod, after being wounded and taken captive in the famous battle on the ice.

If this is something that might appeal to you, I can provide files in EPUB or PDF format for a fair and honest review.

You can check out my website at https://www.jonbyrnewriter.com/ or see the book on Amazon at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sword-Brethr...[

Please let me know if you are interested. Thanking everybody in advance. Jon

Manit Dani | 4 comments Hello Everyone,

I’m excited to introduce my latest book, The Last Ride: Journey to Auschwitz-Birkenau. This memoir takes readers on The Last Ride: Journey to Auschwitz-Birkenau a deeply personal journey through one of history's most haunting places—Auschwitz. It's not just a recounting of events, but a reflection on resilience, humanity, and the lessons we can draw from history to guide our present and future.

Through my writing, I aim to keep the memory of these events alive and provoke meaningful conversations about morality, compassion, and shared responsibility.

What to Expect:

Historical insights into Auschwitz and the Holocaust.
A personal narrative that blends history with human reflection.
An invitation to engage in a dialogue about how history shapes our humanity.
The Last Ride: Journey to Auschwitz-Birkenau
I’d love to hear your thoughts on how books like this can contribute to preserving history and teaching empathy.

Have you read memoirs or historical books that deeply moved you?
How do you think we can use these stories to educate future generations?
If you’re interested, you can find The Last Ride: Journey to Auschwitz-Birkenau on Amazon. I would greatly appreciate your support through reading and sharing your reviews!

Let’s keep the conversation alive and honor the voices of the past.

Thank you!
Manit Dani
