Stefanie (stefaniecross) | 4 comments This is becoming a frustrating problem for me.
Isbn # 978-0-307-59279-8 has 302 pages of story, but whomever loaded it listed it at 320 pages.
The last 4 books I've read have had page # errors. What's going on Goodreads? You are frustrating me.

Most page information comes from Amazon, and is frequently a pre-publication estimate, rather than an actual count. That's why we have a whole folder in this group for page number correction requests.

This particular book's info came straight from the publisher. One would hope that would make the page number more likely to be correct, but apparent not!

Fixed.

Carin | 28 comments Publisher page counts normally are for every single page in the book since that is how much paper they need to buy, determines the thickness of the binding, and the cost of printing. It would be very unusual for a publisher to only include the numbered pages in their page count. Also you will notice publisher page counts are divisible by 16 which is a "signature" and that's how pages are printed - in signatures. So if it's divisible by 16 it's very likely to not have the correct page count for GoodReads. It's not wrong for how the publisher uses it, but the publisher and GoodReads use page counts in different ways for different purposes and therefor they will seldom align.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing that, Carin.
