Make sure you read The Persimmon Tree first. It is set in Indonesia and Australia. Fishing for Stars is the sequel.

And with that, two Oceania selections out of six taken care of...

This reminds me! Chelsea (why can't I tag people in posts?!), if you are looking for someone else to beef up your states/territories of Australia list, Bryce Courtenay lives in the ACT now days. Apparently us Canberrans don't leave him alone while he shops for groceries... oops.

Want me to mail you mine?

Too bad I've already read a book for South Africa, but I'm going to add this to my library list so I will read it in the future.

It's Lesotho, not S. Africa (well a little is in S. Africa, but mostly it is Lesotho), so you can still use it this year. I'm sending my copy on to Judy, but I bet she'd send it to you next if you asked....

this is in my library system so I'm all set. Enjoy Judy! and thanks again Beth.

Have a look at my reviews for:
City of Women
Kino
All That I Am: A Novel
The History of History

Anyway, I just read The Forrests by Emily Perkins, which I'm counting for New Zealand despite there not really being much about New Zealand in there! (My review is here.)

Brazil read The Zahir which was set in France /sigh.
It's over, and this review contains language. Not just my usual rambling English, but some choice words about the author and this book. http://rusalkii.blogspot.com.au/2012/...
(Spoiler: I didn't like it. At all)

I may need to read another Ukraine book, this one left me a bit unsatisfied. Any recommendations?

I personally don't have a Ukrainian book on this particular tour, but I remember reading this review a few months ago and it intrigued me. No idea if it is good or not but a suggestion none-the-less. http://ayearofreadingtheworld.com/201...

Jenny Erpenbeck's new Aller Tage Abend will be reviewed shortly

My Cuba book, The Messengerby Mayra Montero was quite good. I learned a good deal about Cuban history and culture.

Today I left Prague, Czechoslovakia in a hurry myself when Daughter of Smoke and Boneproved to have what I considered to be an immature and vindictive protagonist.

I read "Measuring the World" a while ago and really enjoyed the story with the traveling partners in exotic parts of the world.

Jenny, I also split Scotland, Wales and England. But hadn't thought of Guernsey...mmmm, that's a thought.

Asma, I put this on my re-read pile. I think I would probably enjoy it a lot more if on paper. It was not "exciting" enough to keep my attention as an audiobook and I kept daydreaming over large parts of the book.

I sometimes wish that I utilized more flexibility in my routines like you two readers :)

The only rule is that you don't actually have to follow any rules, in the end. Except to be nice. :)

Don't Sleep, There are Snakes: Life and Language in the Amazonian Jungle'
Now I'm skipping to the end of my list to visit my beloved Zimbabwe and start:
The Fear: The Last Days of Robert Mugabe

I just hope I can bleach it out of my head....

The Meowmorphosis by a famous author writing under the pen name of Cook Coleridge, not to mention the play on Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis in which Gregor Samsa woke up one morning, changed from a human to a giant insect. In Meow... Gregor is similarly transformed after his dreaming one night into a furry, kitten.
