Better to see dead than be dead.~ Charlotte Davidson, Grim Reaper

Good morning! Today we start off the month discussing all things Charley Davidson.

We are introduced to Charley in the first book and are a bit perplexed at the beginning of the first chapter, until Charley begins to explain things. One of my favorite aspects of the series is Darynda's use of T-Shirt slogans or bumper sticker sayings at the beginning of every chapter. In FGTTR what was your favorite slogan?

Mel | 829 comments I could not pick one. My top three are below. They listed in the order they are found in a book. If I had to pick one to fit my personality best, it would be chapter eleven because it contains number one and I have a huge weakness for jewelry.

1. Chapter six - ADD. A lifetime of distractions.

2. Chapter eleven - I'd have a longer attention span if there weren't so many shiny things.

3. Chapter thirteen - Well behaved women rarely make history.

Those are terrific! My fave is Jenius!
I liked shiny objects too!

I love those slogans! A few of my favorites are:

1. Chpt 3: Never knock on death's door. Ring the doorbell then run. He totally hates that.

2. Chpt 9: You know you have ADD when- Look! A chicken!

3. Chpt 10: Don't fear the reaper. Just be very, very aware of her.

Oh Traci, I thought that the one for Chapter 3 was great. The great thing about Charley is how everyone can relate to her. Plz send in any suggestions you have for the month long disscuison, so I can make sure everyone gets to talk about what they want to.

these are my favorites too :]

Cindy (cindymac52) 1) Never knock on death's door. Ring the doorbell then run. He totally hates that.
2) Don't fear the reaper. Just be very, very aware of her.
3) I'd have a longer attention span if there weren't so many shiny things.

These are a few of my faves! Actually the whole book! 'K?

Cin, those fit you perfectly!

A see a recurring theme here, I think we were all wee folk in another life. Faerie and shiny things are two peas in a pod!

Yup! That's me a "P" brain/as in PERFECT! So that be you too :) You did notice the necklace on Charley in book 2 didn't you?

Cindy (cindymac52) The other 3 I'm enamored with are:
1) Reyes Farrow. Perfection is a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
2) Life isn't about finding yourself. It's mostly about chocolate.
3) Do not disturb. Already there.

Cindy (cindymac52) I think I want to know: what's up with Mr. Wong???

Levitating Wong has secrets, I wonder if we will learn them in book 3?

i agree that's something I would like to know more about, but i would also like to know what is owen vaungh's problem with charley. also my theory on third grave is that reye's human dad, the guy he supposedly killed, was taken over by one of the devil's minions to frame reyes for a crime so he'd be isolated from charley, thus making her easy to kidnap for their dastardly plans. or y'know something like that. :]

Interesting theory, I think we're going to see a lot of minions come out of the woodwork, I haven't even read the blurb for book 3, b/c I get all giddy! Has anyone read it? Don't tell me a thing! :-)

Cindy (cindymac52) I think we're going to see a bunch of ghosts come and go. Angel, I'd like to see him be more involved in Charley's investigations. As for Strawberry Shortcake in the back of Tate's car *sigh* sad to say I think I've met her *smirk*!

Mel | 829 comments What about the blog site requesting the Grim Reaper to contact her? Is she a set up? Or will Charlie be able to get information from this person?

Hey Mel,you are right,I think we may see who she is in book 3. Charley is nothing but tenacious when she wants to find out things!

I love that even though there's a mutual "I hate you" fest going on...little "naa nee boo boo" does listen to what Charley has to say.

I wonder if we'll see her in Book 3?

Monika | 1 comments hi,
I've got a question. I love Charley books and I read them already few times in english. They translated the book into polish, so i can read it in my own language now. And I've got question about "Dutch".
Does anyone now is it "Dutch" as abbreviation from "Dutchess" or maybe "Dutch as in "Flying Dutchman". Because I always thought that Reyes is calling her "Dutch" as "Dutchess" and for my great surprise in polish translation he is calling her "The woman from Netherlands" (those two words sounds completely different in polish translation).

Charley perceives the nickname as “Dutch”, but really it is an ancient Aramaic word that
means “seeker.” That is what she is and what Reyes has always known her to be, the
seeker of souls.

Wow, I never knew that. Is that in the books somewhere? I must have zoned out for that paragraph!

You'll learn about it later on in the series. Keep reading :)
