Elke (misspider) | 88 comments Hi, I just wanted to add "The Essential Dracula: A Completely Illustrated & Annotated Edition of Bram Stoker's Classic Novel" to my wishlist. But I was told I aldready own the audiobook version of Dracula (which is true of course). However, "The Essential..." does not only contain the story, but loads of additional information, which makes me wonder if it is correctly combined to the "story-only" editions of Dracula or should stand as its own book. What rule applies here - are the books correctly combined or should they be separated?

Aside from that: how can I add multiple editions of a book to my shelf (e.g. english and german version which are combined)?

Sandra | 31450 comments Both WorldCat & LOC attribute it to Bram Stoker, so I would assume that the extra material does not amount to a significant % of the overall work.

That is how a standalone vs a combined work is determined.

Multiple editions of the same book is easy....

* you can either go to Other Editions and find the one you want to add, and just add it by clicking the Add to my Books Button OR
* Once you find the right edition - From the Book Page, click the link Review this Edition, beside My Review

Michael | 254 comments I would have thought that the annotated version should be combined with the main work, providing the core text is the same. Otherwise, every edition with (for example) an introduction and notes by a different editor would be its own work in Goodreads.

Same for illustrated editions with art by different illustrators.

In general, I agree.

Elke (misspider) | 88 comments ok thanks. As long as I can add multiple editions I'm fine with that.
