Lisa P 51. Wit'ch Fire Wit'ch Fire (The Banned and the Banished, #1) by James Clemens by James Clemens. I don’t usually read too many fantasy books. I picked up this one mainly because the author, James Clemens, also writes awesome thrillers under the pen name James Rollins. One of the things I like about James Rollins is his superb writing style that always pulls me into any of his stories right from the get go. This story by James Clemens was no different. The many characters were all intriguing, the action was intense, and the pace was perfect…all of these things are what make, for me, a great story. I really felt a camaraderie with these characters, and wanted to find out what was to happen to them. I felt a little cheated by the conclusion of the story, because things do not end all tied up in a nice neat little package. There is definitely much more to this story. I feel that further reading of the next books in this series is a must, in order to feel fully satisfied. I must also say that many reviewers have complained about all the apostrophes throughout the book…I’m not sure of the purpose of these, but they didn’t distract me at all. I am looking forward to the next one!

Lisa P 52. 12.21: A Novel 12.21 A Novel by Dustin Thomason by Dustin Thomason. This is definitely a captivating medical thriller. I thoroughly enjoyed learning (probably more than I wanted to know…scary) about prions. I also enjoyed the historical aspect of this story (Guatemala and the Mayan culture). Both of these elements make for a good story in my opinion. The pace of the story was good…a real page turner throughout most of the story. What I didn’t like so much about the book were the two main characters…not very likeable or memorable…and still not sure what the point of Victor’s character was. I also felt the ending was quite rushed (I understand that 12.21 was approaching quickly and the author needed to wrap things up :), but I would have loved for Chel and Gabe to have spent more time in the jungle together searching for the lost temple and the cure. It all just happened a little too fast. I rate it a 3.5, but will round up to a 4. Not quite spectacular, but overall an entertaining read!

Lisa P 53. This Side of the Grave This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost by Jeaniene Frost. Another great installment in the Night Huntress Series!

Lisa P 54. Hot Target Hot Target (Troubleshooters, #8) by Suzanne Brockmann by Suzanne BrockmannAnother great installment to the Troubleshooters Series and one of my favorites so far. We finally get a closer look at Jules past, and possibly a glimpse into his future. Definitely hoping for a HEA for him sometime soon. Once again we are given a look into the workings of the new Troubleshooters Inc., with their latest assignment in Hollywood, to protect a movie producer who has been receiving death threats. Cosmo and Jane are the central romance with lots of chemistry between them from the get go. I found the behind-the-scenes movie making of "American Hero" very interesting, but would have loved for it to have ventured much more into the past lives of Hal and Jack, of whom the movie is about...I felt there was so much more of their story to be told. Looking forward, as usual, to the next installment in this fantastic series!
