Just read Because You Tempt Me (Because You Are Mine, #1) by Beth Kery . I was totally disgusted with this publishing approach, and gave it 1 star on both the format, and the story itself (redundant, and that's evident in the mere glimpse we get).

A "book" should have a beginning, middle, and an end. What Peguin did was split a full-lenth novel into 8 little segments and is charging $2 a piece for them. Not only that, but over 25% of this "book" was an excerpt of a novel the author wrote 4 years ago!

I hope this isn't the new trend in publishing.

I don't know what happened with the whole Penquin debacle but I know my libraries no longer order any books from them. So if it isn't a book they already have and the only place they can get it is through Penguin...then it is a no go on the book.

Okay I'm gonna check out this series too!
@Hayley: do we have to read in sequence for this series?

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) I like the Virgin River series too!!! I've only read the first one and need to get back to them LOL

@ Juliet...You can read them as Stand Alones is what I have heard from all my other friends reading them but if you are like me, if it says series I want to read them in order LOL .

AHHHHHHHHHHH...Thanks for the info Jenny. I did a little bit of research and it appears that a lot of people are upset about this.

message 1059: by [deleted user] (new)

@Jenny - Thanks! Yeah...I can see why people are upset about that. There's just so many changes going on with how we read. Hopefully everyone can get the you-know-what together (incl. the big six), and get back to what's important: Keeping us book addicts supplied! ;)

Lina | 5563 comments I'm a little bit hooked on Kristen Ashley at the moment. Finished Rock Chick Redemption (Rock Chick, #3) by Kristen Ashley at 2.30 this morning, and I'll be starting the Rock Chick Renegade (Rock Chick, #4) by Kristen Ashley this afternoon. I've had quite a few laugh out loud moments in the last read, was trying to do it quietly so I didn't wake up the hubby lying next to me :-)

Rachel the Book Harlot I'm currently reading Storm (Elemental, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer by Brigid Kemmerer and Blood Red Road (Dust Lands, #1) by Moira Young by Moira Young because they both looked good and I couldn't decide between the two.

@CaroB - I keep hearing that about her - whether it be this series or the Colorado-something one. :)

message 1064: by [deleted user] (new)

Read The Englor Affair by J.L. Langley and started Dawn's Awakening (Breeds, #14) by Lora Leigh and Winter of the Wolf (The Wild Hunt Legacy, #2) by Cherise Sinclair .

Lately, I've been itching to stick to series instead of bouncing around. I think I miss the familiarity that comes with reading them back-to-back. Now I just need to figure out which one to start with. I have so many to get caught up on.

message 1068: by [deleted user] (new)

@Jenny - I used to read back-to-back, and would get burned out. So, I started bouncing around. Now I'm bouncing too much and am missing the coziness of reading back-to-back. Can't win!!

Oooo...let me know if Levi is any good. :)

That first line in Samson's gets me every time! Love it!

I got about halfway through Winter of the Wolf (The Wild Hunt Legacy, #2) by Cherise Sinclair and stalled out on it. Slow paced and predictable. Moved on to Handyman by Claire Thompson which seems to have a lot more depth so far. Plus, this will wrap up my August challenge since it's a book that starts with "h". Yay!

That's how I found the termites , they are making lots of noise in there , they are partying on our expense !!!
what do they do in the walls? do you they munch on the timber?
I've never seen a squirrel before !!!

message 1081: by [deleted user] (new)

@Jenny - I just finished Handyman by Claire Thompson and gave it 4 stars. Good writing, but in a few places a little slower paced than what I prefer. But, at the same time, that totally fits with the storyline, so can't really complain about that too much. Overall, it was lightly emotional, and really very sweet. I'd definitely recommend it.

Good to know about Levi (Leopard's Spots, #1) by Bailey Bradford . I won't rush on to that one.

I don't know what they do in the walls. Maybe make nests? All I know is that it's creepy sounding hearing them scratch in the walls at 2 in the morning.

Yes that's creepy but the bright side is they don't cause you 5000$ or more to get rid of them and replacing the eaten timbers!

Rachel the Book Harlot @ Shosho: Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that.

Rachel the Book Harlot Termites invading the house is one of my worst fears. So far I've only had to fight ants getting in, and it's annoying, but I'll take that over termites any day of the week. I feel for you guys. I really do. *shudder*

Beyond Complicated by Mercy Celeste I'll be honest, Elishia. I almost shelved it last night because I didn't really feel like being "brave" right now. But I picked it back up this morning, and now I can't put it back down. I'm at about 35% in, and I think I see how the author is going to spin this. Of course, I could be wrong...but I think she's going to pull back some punches, so to speak. If she does what I think she's going to do, then, in the end, this wouldn't be a Taboo book. Maybe awkward, thought-provoking, and skating on the edge of moral content, but not Taboo. We'll see how it plays out.
