Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Hey, Midu! I was invited to this group, but I'm not sure I'll join yet or not; but, it is right up your alley: Unknown Books? Let's Read Them.

message 53: by Zoe (new)

Zoe I'm currently listening to Heartbreaker (Long, Tall Texans) (Silhouette Desire #1748) by Diana Palmer , my first Diana Palmer.
Other than that, non fic and sci fi. You see (hangs head in shame) my New Years resolution is to read at leas 2 books I own before buying new or getting something from the library. I have lots of books that need to be read (and only about a third are romance). That said, I'm really enjoying the 900+ page biography of the Queen Mum that I'm reading, just won;t be finishing it any time soon... :)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Zoe, I've resolved not to buy any new books till at least my birthday in March. I have MORE than enough to keep me busy until then LOL

I'm reading Black Jack (Elite Ops, #4) by Lora Leigh . I had forgotten how much I love this series. I may just finish the whole thing one after the other ;)

message 55: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Nice resolution Susan! Wish I had the discipline.

message 56: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I wish I did too, Heather LOL I've already ammended the resolution to state that if I could find Real Men Will (Donovan Brothers Brewery, #3) by Victoria Dahl or Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) by Maya Banks I'd buy them since they're the ones I need for those series and I want to read them soon ROFLOL

message 57: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments I love the resolutions ladies! I had the same thought last year about needing to read more of the books I already own before buying new ones. I came across this challenge in the SOS group, which I'm hoping will help my resolve, or at least make it interesting to see how well I do on it. Anyone else wanna try it with me?

message 58: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments CaroB, I'm going to have to join that group just so I can do that challenge! Thanks for the link. maybe it will help my resolve ;) LOL

message 59: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Excellent Susan! We'll be partners in crime... or resolve, as the case may be.

message 60: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Well, that certainly would satisfy the "X" author catergory, Jenny!

message 61: by Zoe (new)

Zoe It's a great challenge, but I don't do urban fantasy or paranormal (I know I'm in the minority here). I did add a 'Read-Books I Own' shelf to my shelves just so I can keep track.

That's a great idea too, Zoe.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I started At the Bride Hunt Ball (Devine & Friends, #1) by Olivia Parker this morning and am over half way finished with it! It's refreshingly funny :)

message 64: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I've never read anything by her, Susan. I'll have to investigate.

message 65: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I started If You Hear Her (Ash Trilogy, #1) by Shiloh Walker this weekend, but I haven't fallen into it yet. Will have to put it aside once I start Daybreak (Dark Age Dawning, #3) by Ellen Connor in the morning.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I absolutely LOVED At the Bride Hunt Ball (Devine & Friends, #1) by Olivia Parker !!!

message 67: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments You'll have to let me know how The Perils of Pleasure (Pennyroyal Green, #1) by Julie Anne Long is. That's a series I want to read.

message 68: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments well 5 stars for both of those are very encouraging! I may have to look into them sooner rather than later LOL

message 69: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Oh, that sounds right up my alley, Jenny, since I like mysteries with a touch of romance. I'll just have to be in that frame of mind. Gheeze, have I read anythink by Julie Anne Long? The name sounds familiar.

message 70: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I'm so jealous of all of you that have these books I want to read at their library. Our library stinks.

message 71: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cawils_99) Just finished Midnight's Wild Passion by Anna Campbell and it was very good. Loved the characters and the story but it did get a little wordy as the H/h with their emotions. But overall worth it!
Now I'm starting Border Storm (Zebra Historical Romance) by Amanda Scott and I hope it's as good as her other books.

message 72: by Katya (new)

Katya Just finished Because of You (Coming Home #1) by Jessica Scott Thanks Jen & now reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

message 73: by taita (new)

taita | 188 comments Finished The Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig a few days ago.

A little more than half way done with Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) by Maya Banks . Really liked the first book in the series and enjoying this one too through not sure I'm convinced that you would want to jump someone when you're in the throes of a raging fever. Hmmm....

Also started The Virtuoso (Duke's Obsession, #3)(Windham, #3) by Grace Burrowes . Been waiting for this book for a while because I so enjoyed the previous two in the series. I think Grace Burrowes' writing is so real. She's so good at turning phrases and putting the emotions down on paper.

How are you liking this book? I admit that I bought it on impulse purely because of the cover. It's the first one where I've seen the heroine looke more like me (Asian).

I really enjoyed the book, almost as much as I enjoyed Water Bound. Christine Feehan is a bit hit or miss for me. I really enjoyed a few of her Carpathian books and found her leopard shifter books kind of hard to get into (and I love cat shifters). I haven't been able to get into her Drake sisters books either although I plan to give them another try. So these two books really surprised me. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Taita, have you read the other books in the Pink Carnation series? I have the first one and just have never gotten around to it.

I was in the mood for a mystery, so I'm reading I Scream, You Scream (A Mystery A La Mode, #1) by Wendy Lyn Watson I've had tons going on here for the last few days so it's been slow going with reading. Hopefully with it being the weekend, I'll have more reading time.

For anyone who's interested, on Saturday, we're starting a buddy read of The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley over at RRRC Come join if you'd like :)

message 78: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I'm reading The Restorer (Graveyard Queen #1) by Amanda Stevens , it's good so far.

This is the first Pink Carnation book I've read. It was a "clean" romance (aka no sex scenes). Still, I really enjoyed it because it made me laugh so hard. I'm thinking of reading the others in the series later this year. Let me know if you'd be interested in in doing a Buddy Read!

message 82: by taita (new)

taita | 188 comments Finished Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) by Maya Banks . It's one of my new favorites!

Still working on The Virtuoso (Duke's Obsession, #3)(Windham, #3) by Grace Burrowes .

Planning to join Susan and others on RRRC for The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley buddy read. Loved that book!

Also going to try and start on Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant for new book club.

Now I want the comfort and joy that only the sweet natured Eve and Roarke bring me (please read the sarcasm here), so I'm going to tackle Reunion in Death (In Death, #14) by J.D. Robb

I liked the first one in that series, Jenny. Hmmmm... I actually have that second book (somewhere, I think!), and I need a #2 in a series.... Decisions, decisions.

message 90: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments There are, Jenny! I wish I read faster. Of course, some books I just have to savor. **sigh**

taita | 188 comments Susan (susayq) and Lisa Kay... Would love to do a Buddy Read of The Secret History of the Pink Carnation (Pink Carnation, #1) by Lauren Willig . Shall we start Feb 1st? I need to finish up some books on my list for this month.

Anyone else interested?

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Posted the "buddy read" for The Secret History of the Pink Carnation (Pink Carnation, #1) by Lauren Willig here ! I'll put it on the "BR" Calendar too! As soon and Susan confirms the date is okay.

I just finished The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley and absolutely LOVED it! I'm looking forward to the others in the series.

I'm starting Immortal in Death (In Death, #3) by J.D. Robb later this evening.

message 95: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I loved Anna and the French Kiss too, Jenny. Just finished her next book in the series this month and loved it too! Her writing just sucks you in and makes you think that she was writing from your high school experience. Good or bad. lol

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Just finished Reunion in Death and loved it. What Eve and Roarke went through just about broke my heart.
Moved on to Purity in Death because I just can't get enough of those two.
Also trying to get into Enchanted, Inc. but too wrapped in the In Death series.

message 97: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) Reunion was one of my favorites in the series so far, Heather! It broke my heart.

message 98: by Heather (new)

message 99: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Do I even want to ask what happens in Reunion? I'm sitting here giggling over Eve's reaction to having to buy a wedding dress while I read Immortal in Death
