I started trying to read before I actually could. I was around 4, and I used to read coloring books like chicken run, garfield, any book with pictures and words. I would read what I though was happening in the picture then o would have someone read what it really said. I really started reading in kindergarten and have loved it every since (:

It's more 'stylish' to read on a pice of techonolgy than a physical book. Can't complain though as it gets people reading :)

*cue inspiring music*My parents wanted me to follow the family legacy of English pros (on my father's side; my mom is good at Math), so they bought me Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which was then not-so-popular among the kids my age (I was 7? or 8?).
I was always fond of reading "stories" and such, and I took pride in finishing my first novel in three weeks (my first ever standard).
I became a close follower of the series (it was literally my childhood) way before it became a movie franchise.
And thus starts the metamorphosis of a kid-who-liked-playing-outside into a outdoors-hating bookworm! (in the voice of Morgan Freeman)

I started reading when I was 13. I was at the school library and I just randomly picked out a book mainly because of the cover and there are some pictures in it. The book was about a hotel and crows (I think the kids were solving something), holler if you know the title because I really can't remember anymore. While reading, the pictures became insignificant and the words just stood out more and more. Before I knew it, I was done and the feeling I got was happiness. Ever since then, I became more and more engrossed in books and the rest is history. :D
When I was really little my grandfather would sit and read, and then reread, book after book with me. after that, i was hooked. When I got to fourth grade my teacher wanted to encourage everyone to read more. So, she set up this program where we got points for each book we read.
I started reading a book a night. At the end of the year I had something like 260 points. The person in second place was in the 50s.
From there, i was pretty seriously addicted :)
I started getting into reading when I started hanging out in my school's library. At first I was into picture books until I changed and started reading books with no picture in it. Turns out, my imagination is all the picture I need. :)
I guess when I was around 12-ish I thought Twilight sucked. (No offense fans. It's just not my cup of tea.) So, I made it my mission to find good books that are worthy to read. Then that also led my passion to write short stories, which the fed my goal of becoming a novlist.
I started reading when I was younger and I started again a few years later but got put into a reading slump by reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Then I started reading a few books such as Nightshade, Before I go to sleep and after that I was hooked!
I started reading when I was in first grade. But I really started to like reading in 4th to 5th when i started reading the Percy Jackson series.
It's all because of my 6th grade teacher. I thank God for her pushing me to read and helping me to find different books to read.
One of the best series I read before I got into deep YA reading would be Trenton Lee's Mysterious Benedict Society (which I still love and re-read as much) and Pseudonymous Bosch's The Name of This Book Is Secret! The Name of This Book Is Secret
The Mysterious Benedict SocietyThe Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous JourneyThe Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma
It was in the seventh grade, I think my teacher is an alien. I couldn't good night sleep til I finished the series
I know that maybe it is a topic, but I remember that I started loving books because every night, before going to bed, my dad used to read me a book. When I started to learn how to read, he insisted in making me read the books for him. And here I am. Someday I will have to buy him a Porsche to compensate.

No kidding. Funny thing is they are completly opposite too, well maybe that makes sense because it would catch a wider spec..."
I think also kindles spread reading! I think alot of people like the idea of reading on a machine better!
