Caro | 177 comments I was wanting to know where some series have disappeared to. I was looking thru some of the series I was reading and I had added to the serieses so that all the books from the series were in it. Now I was going to look back at the series and it isn't there anymore. I had written down the number (goodreads.com/series/#####) and then when I went to look for it, it shows the series main page and 'sorry, we couldn't find that series'. The series, so far, that I have noticed are gone are: Silhouette Bombshell, Harlequin Gothic, Silhouette Romantic Suspense, Yours Truly, Blaze, and Kismet (from Meteor). I have already created a new Kismet and have started adding the books to it.

Were these not supposed to be series, I thought they were, and I had spent a lot of time adding all the books to the series and ordering them into the right order. If I was doing something wrong, I would like to know so I won't do it again, but if someone knows what happened could you inform me. There weren't any duplicate series when I was adding the books, I actually went thru ALL of the series listed in the main page to make sure. Can someone HELP ME PLEASE. Thanks, just really confused.

There have also been several discussions in this group regarding this since series functionality was added.

Caro | 177 comments Thanks, I went ahead and deleted the Kismet I started then. Also what is the Listopia list I keep seeing?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you not familiar with Listopia lists? http://www.goodreads.com/list

message 5: by Caro (new)

Caro | 177 comments thanks, should I go ahead and delete the rest of the one's I have written down, harlequin and silhouette imprints. ex: medical romance, special editions, etc.?

message 6: by Caro (new)

Caro | 177 comments OH, and can I make a list in the listopia, I noticed most of the lists are for bests and favorites, not really an account of a imprint. Or should I just leave it and not worry about the imprints being anywhere all together. Much less confused, but still a little. THANKS BIG TIME. :)

There are some of each. Some imprints that came up in a quick search:

Wren (orient) | 10 comments So in the librarian manual the example for multiple series is incorrect?

Example of a book with multiple series:
His Only Obsession (The Protectors, #28) (Silhouette Intimate Moments, #1455)

That book should only be in "The Protectors" series?

Drat, I keep forgetting to fix that section. It needs a couple other tweaks, too.

message 13: by Caro (new)

Caro | 177 comments From what I understand, you keep the title like that, but 'the protectors, #28' is the only one that is actually included in an actual series, but do we keep intimate moments in the title?

No. But in the edition field is ok.

message 15: by Caro (new)

Caro | 177 comments so intimate moments you put in the edition field like you would for large print, but only on the right edition. I guess that takes care of the 'other edition' link discussion for a lot of adding books to series.

Just be sure, any group of books that have different authors are considered imprints (blaze, etc.) and any group of books connected AND written by the same author are considered a series (in death by jd robb, etc). Right-O

Not necessarily. If multiple authors write in the same "universe", especially if those books have a real sequence, that would be a series. Pern, Thieves' World, Star Trek, Star Wars -- those are all series.

Harlequin and the other imprints have no real link between individual books, no shared background, and books are frequently reprinted as not from the imprint.

Tyler is an example in the romance genre of a multi-author series. All the books have a shared background, some have shared characters, and they have a shared chronology.

Caro | 177 comments so as long as the books are connected thru the characters or settings then it's considered a series. OK thanks again
