Ha, ha, ha! I haven't started yet. Hoping to start either tomorrow or day after. Because it is a short book, I am hoping to finish it in a day. Happy Reading!

I have Kostova's 'The Historian', Sahas. But it is there in one of the packed boxes in the loft and I don't know in which one it is in. In case I am able to get it out, I will bring it to our next meet. Looks like someone has been inspired by 'Dracula' very much :)

Saritha Sahasranaman wrote: "Anybody read The Help? How is it? I don't think I'll be reading it for this meet."

I've read it - speedy read, a looooot of spunky women - white and coloured. Written about a society perhaps just around the time Rosa Parks got on to that bus. It's about white children being brought up by coloured domestic help and how they were treated, sometimes with respect and sometimes with suspicion and contempt. Funny in parts.

Sahasranaman wrote: "There are two acclaimed books remade into movies that are scheduled for release on the 26th of October - Cloud Atlas, Midnight's Children. There is also The Great Gatsby coming out in December, ..."

It is interesting that some of these interesting novels are becoming movies. I think all the three novels are good 'group book read' candidates. 'The Great Gatsby' is the thinnest one, so it should be an easy read. 'Cloud Atlas' got some rave reviews when it came out. If the size is okay, we can read that.

Sahasranaman wrote: "Vishy, 500 pages = 2 weeks. :-) It is written in the form of journal entries, appears to be easy prose, but the structure is unconventional and interesting."

500 pages sounds a little bit intimidating, but if the pace is fast, it should be possible. We can give it a try.

Nice idea!

Saritha I love the idea, Sahas.

In case anybody wants a copy of The Hours, I have one that I can lend at the next meeting. Do let me know.

A little intimidated by Slaughterhouse 5, but once I get the book from a friend, will decide.
