The Bridge

The large,thick stone bridge that connects the Institue to the outside world.It's the simplest way to get in and out of the institute.

Tyler leaned against the side of the bridge,he rolled a circular stone in his hand.He looked out at the water.

Rose walked along the bridge, keeping her hood up as she went. She wasn't sure about the place. The royals were always wary about otherworldly creatures so this place could have been a trap for all she knew. She saw a boy further away.

Tyler closed his eyes,smelling the air.He opened his eyes,smelling the distinct scent of roses.He took off his hat and turned to the girl,holding the hat against his chest and bowing"How do you do,m'lady?"He said,smiling.

Rose looked over at the boy through her lashes. She slowly pulled her hood back, revealing her snow white hair and violet eyes. "Good morrow, kind sir. Is this the Institute?" She asked.

Tyler's chest clenched,he had never seen a girl like this before"Ye-Yes,it is.I'm Tyler BlackLeaf,enchanted to meet you"He said.

Rose looked at him and smiled warmly. "Pleasure to meet you Tyler. My name is Rose." She said giving a curtsy. "Are you a student here?" She asked.

"Yes"He said"Have been for about a year now"He said"I'm an Alchemist"He said,smiling"Sometimes known as the Dark Alchmyst"Tyler smiled.

Rose nodded in approval. "Well its a delight to meet such a bright young student, even better to meet someone other than my kind." She said. "Is it ok to go inside?" She asked.

"Yes,I'll escort you"He said,holding out his arm.

Rose smiled at how gentlemanly like he was and linked her arms through his and walked in with him, interested to see this secret school. It was cleverly guarded by an illusion for humans.

Tyler smiled."So what brings you here to the institute"He asked,looking at her.

Rose looked around in awe at the mystics of the place. "Ah well I am hoping to learn and possibly learn to become a teacher." She said.

"That's why most people come to this school.But there's always a hidden reason within it as well"He said"My father was an Alchemist"He said quietly"He was teaching me,until he was killed.."

Rose nodded, noting that he was very clever. "Ah well first is the learning part." She said feeling a little pang of sadness for him. "I'm sorry for your loss." She said.

Tyler smiled"It's okay"he said,continuing to walk with her along the bridge"After a while,the pain fades.But the anger is only immortal"He added softly.

Rose felt a little whirr of emotions coming from him. "Well anger is never a good thing to bottle up for so long, you can sometimes end up hurting the people you love most." She said softly. "So what classes are you taking young sir?" She said giving him a warm smile.

Tyler thought about what she had just said.He answered her question"Science,advanced alchemy,fencing,ancient languages.."He said"What classes do you wish to partake in?"He asked

Rose hadn't thought about her classes in detail. "Well I suppose something along the lines of advanced fighting, advanced science, ancient languages, ancient history and ancient magic." She said.

"Well,I could teach you some things about alchemy"He offered shyly,a bit of color touching his cheeks.

Rose raised a brow. "Really? that would be delightful. Im not sure how the school works but do I have to fill anything in?" She asked.

Tyler eyes became shadowed"Believe me,they know your here,check you pockets"he said,taking his arm from her's so she could check.

Rose looked at him slightly puzzled and did as he said checking her pockets. Finding a card, telling her, her room and giving her a class schedule. "How curious." She said intrigued by their methods.

Tyler smiled"I'm aware.But i'm curious,you never did tell me what you were"He said,glancing at her card.

Rose smiled to herself and made her card disappear. "Well that is a good question. I am an Elfin." She said giving a polite nod.

Tyler nodded,that explained the smell of roses"An elf?I haven't met many of your kind"He said.

Rose smiled. "Well thats good my kind are normal bitter people." She said.

Tyler laughed"I wasn't aware of that"He said,linking back their arms.

Rose chuckled. "Yes well it depend on which clan you meet I suppose." She said continuing to walk with him.

"How many clans are there?"He wondered allowed.

Rose thought for a moment. "If I'm correct, roughly 120." She said. "Or was it 110..." She thought aloud.

Rose chuckled lightly as they entered the institute, looking around in awe at the beauty of the interior. "This place is amazing." She breathed, seeing witches practise, werewolfs howl, and vampires commute with out harming people. "Curiouser and curiouser." She mused.

Tyler smiled"I felt the same way when I came here"He said,following her gave"This place is a haven for all mystical creatures."He said quietly.

Rose smiled at him. "Well even better. This will be be fun school I must say better than a humans attempt at school." She said.

Rose looked at him curiously, smiling. "No it's not that it's just humans tend to have very bad teaching methods." She said.

Tyler chuckled"Most people forget i'm human,and sometimes i regret it.We can be so primitive at times"He said,looking up.

Rose was curious of his nature. "Why do you regret it? I did not realise you were of the human nature until you said. You give off an enery unlike a human, plus you seemed to pride yourself on alchemy." She said.

Tyler looked at her"We can be so foolish.But I Learned to look past what my kind doesn't"he said."My energy..that must be my aura your talking about.."he though aloud.

Rose smiled. "Ah well then it is very wise for you to do so." She said as her eyes flashed a brilliant violet. "Yes I can see it now it is a very odd colour, very dark, black I presume. How intriguing." She said as her eyes went back to normal.

Tyler stepped away from her.His coat flapping in the wind.His eyes turned from amber to laced with a spiderweb like pattern in the irises.The spread his arms,his aura flaring up like transparent black flames around his body.

Rose watched this whole ordeal and smiled. "Fascinating. Can I ask why you have a black like energy surrounding you? Is it normal for your kind?" She inquired.

"The black aura?No,a pure black our is one of the rarest out there."He said,looking up"It's why my name is the 'Dark Alchmyst'"He murmered

"Ah I see well im glad to have met a rarity such as yourself." She said giving a respectful bow. "This area is very vast, like no other I have seen. When do classes start may I ask?"

"Soon"He answered,checking his pocketwatch.
