New Year's Reading Resolutions
date
newest »

I went off course lately working on my blog for a live tour January 4th. Actually a pre-show blog will be posted tomorrow and I just finished the final touches on that today.

I will do this again next year. I plan to read more Aussie books also. and again 100. As I also have to find a job it could cut down on the reading which is why I am leaving it at 100.

I pledged to read more LIs and I did that, resuming my subscription to LI. I slashed my book review obligations so that I could both read fewer books but also be much more selective about what I read. More pleasure than business, so to speak.
In 2012, I want to continue to focus on reading LIs and Kimanis, but also read more new authors. 'Course I'll have to keep up with certain favorite authors but I'd like to widen my circle. I'd also like to read more non-fiction, maybe biographies or history books.

I read 75 books this year, 24 of which were LIS according to Goodreads. :) It will be 76 by Saturday because the one I am currently reading has to be back to the library by then - The Lady of the Rivers. I am nearly finished it. I have a little pile of six more library books here yet to read (4 by Kathy Herman) but they are not due for a couple of weeks yet. Most of my spare evening time I spend cross stitching while watching TV.
I used to get all of the LIS every month but got way behind on reading them and then got my e-reader so I switched to getting them that way and only downloading the ones that sounded good or were by specific authors, like Camy, Lynette Eason, etc. I think I average 1-2 each month. Of course I have not read any of them yet as I am still reading down the stack of printed ones; have about a dozen left to go. I send them to my daughter in NB when I have read them.

That's great, Judy! What's the link?

I LOVE GLH!!! I have been reading the few books of hers that I haven't read yet, like Astra, which I finished a few months ago.

Patricia, I also cut down on my reviews so I could be selective about my reading. That's the reason I had time to read some older books like Regency Miss and Practice to Deceive. Otherwise I'd have had books to review and wouldn't have had time to read them!

Beth, I am the same as you--I used to have the LIS subscription but when I got my Nook, I switched to downloading the ebooks instead! I download all 4 each month since I want to read them all to keep up with the line. I LOVE having them on ebook. Just the other day I was standing in line at the post office and didn't have my Nook with me, but I had my iPhone so I opened the Nook app and started reading a Shirlee McCoy book right there in line!

I wish they had the LI lines on ebook subscription!!! I guess there just aren't enough LI readers yet who read ebooks.

You should read it soon. Some books I have to find it . I have about five to ten books I have to find it.
I think I have all her books by now. When I was still working in biology research, I went on a GLH jag and bought copies of all her titles through used online bookstores.
Most of my GLH books are paperback books I bought from used online bookstores. I have a few ebooks that I got from BarnesandNoble.com.

I wanted to read more Love Inspired Suspenses but didn’t read as many as I wanted to. I just didn’t have time! I did read a rare historical romance since I happened to get a copy I wouldn’t otherwise have gotten my hands on--my friend Becca Whitham let me borrow Practice to Deceive by Patricia Veryan, which is selling for $40 on Amazon for just a “Good” grade used copy! (I love Becca, by the way!)
I got a chance to read an advance copy of Saving Hope by Margaret Daley, a romantic suspense that’s the first book in the Men of the Texas Rangers series. It was so awesome! I love Margaret’s Love Inspired Suspense novels, but this is her first single title novel and it’s terrific!
I also reread an old book I loved when I was a teenager, Regency Miss by Alix Melbourne. This was actually the very first Regency romance I ever read, and I loved it. As an entree into Regency romances, it was perfect. I read it again to see if it was as good as I remember, and it was. :)
For this coming year, my goal is again to try to read all the Love Inspired Suspense novels each month. I really love them, but I just don’t have time to read them all. I’m also “reading” several books on audiobook, like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which is on my MP3 player for me to listen to when I go running.
What did you read this year? What are you hoping to read next year?
