What will be your very first read of 2012? Are you excited about it? Have you been planning it for a challenge? What genre? Could it be you're going to follow the advice & pick of RLftCI Online Elf? Did you receive a gift cert for Barnes & Noble or Amazon? Or even **gasp** did you receive a new tablet for Christmas and you’ve gone hog wild on the e-book buying? Tell us! We'd love to know.

Debbie (halfpint66) | 138 comments I have no idea what my first read of the year will be yet.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Okay, Debbie. How about your last? LOL!

message 4: by willaful (new)

willaful I signed up for netGalley month, so I guess I'll choose one of those. Though I have bought a ton of books from all the recent sales...

Debbie (halfpint66) | 138 comments Reading the last book now. Just started it today. I AM going to make my goal of 175!

message 6: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments netGalley month? Never heard of it. What does that entail, willa?

message 7: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Great, Debbie! Early congrats.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments That's on my TBR list, Jyl22075. I've liked the other stuff I've read by her before.

I got a Kindle for Christmas and have loaded it with some wonderful books to read. I think my first read for the new year will be The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1) by Jaci Burton . It's part of my reading for the January challenge here.

Lisa Kay, you never said what your first read will be :)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I have How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper lined up for the first day. I've been looking forward to it for awhile, but I wanted to save it for the Reporter Challenge. I may just hide in bed and read it straight though, LOL!

I also want to go onto book #2 in the Braxton series, The Other Guy's Bride (Braxton, #2) by Connie Brockway .

I have In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks lined up for January, as RRRC groups has that author in the FAC.

message 10: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I think I'm up to reading Fatal Justice (Fatal, #2) by Marie Force or Seduction in Death (In Death, #13) by J.D. Robb to start off my new year.

message 11: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Loved How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper , Lisa Kay! Molly Harper has such a way with humor.

message 12: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I went to check out the audio of Loyalty in Death (In Death #9) by J.D. Robb today and there is a waitlist. Drat! I keep forgetting how popular this series is.

Going to try The Indiscretion by Judith Ivory instead as, believe it or not, I've never read that author.

message 13: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I want to read book #2 in the Braxton series too. I LOVED #1! I have the Maya Banks highlander series on my nightstand. And of course, the Molly Harper is on my TBR LOL

I've never read anything by Marie Force and I have #2 in the In Death series for January.

Geez, do I sound like I have a reading problem? My girls were picking at me yesterday when I unwrapped the Kindle and a set of books ROFLOL

message 14: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I see no problems, Susan! LOL
I enjoyed the first in Marie Force's Fatal series (a bit like the In Death series but with a more likeable heroine from the start as it took me a little while to warm up to Eve). Also, there was a book on Kindle for free yesterday by her that I downloaded

message 15: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I've never read anything by Marie Force b/f either. Is that series good, Heather?

Is this a new Kindle (as in you had one b/f?), Susan? Did you get the Kindle Fire?

message 16: by willaful (new)

willaful Oh Lisa Kay, you have a treat in store with Judith Ivory!

netGalley month is run by a blog called Red House books, IIRC -- you just read as many netGalley books as you can in January and post about them there. I think there may be prizes, though I don't remember for sure.

It's a bit more true-to-life, Lisa Kay. It was a bit too predictable, but I still enjoyed it and want to read on. I loved Nick, a sweet, caring hero. And Sam was a realistic heroine that I really cared about.

Yes, I gave the cover ★★★★★& a WOW! and the story ★★★½. I think JB has written better, IMHO.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Lisa Kay, this is a new Kindle as in I have the app on my iPhone and now I have a kindle LOL I petted it and loved on it and named it Braxton after Harry Braxton since he was the hero of the first book I read on it :D

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments My first read of this year was The Night Tourist (Jack Perdu, #1) by Katherine Marsh , a ya sort of paranormal kinda story about a kid who ventures into the New York Underworld (like the Underworld of mythology, where the spirits of the dead go). I bought it last year right around New Years '11, and when I was lookin' through my TBR round New Years '12 I guess it sorta just said, 'hey, read me', no real thought or pre-planning went into it. It was a good book, I'm glad I read it :)
