The Litigators
question
Grisham's getting better?
His first few novels were really good but with his last few books it had seemed that he had lost his flair. But with The Litigators he is certainly back in form!
A Really Good read!! :D

I think this book is more lighthearted than recent books. Reminds me of his early writings...
To me, Grisham's early books were up close and personal, and then when he got successful he started writing bigger idea books that glossed over good characters and dialague and details. This book did seem like a step back toward up close and personal, and I enjoyed it. I do take a little exception to the apparent message in the book that virtue is rewarded and the message that scrapping Street Lawyers could easily suceed by just being more classy and caring. Not true.

I agree. It seems like he was writing "vague concept" books for a while - and they were very dreary and gray.

I agree, I thought there was a lot more humour in this novel. Really enjoyed it.
I thought this was a wonderful book and it was funny as well. Great book in my opinion
I think this is one of the best books Grisham has written in a while. He shows a humorous side, and the story has a sort of tongue-in-cheek ironic feel to it, what with all the back and forth goings on with all the various personal injury lawyers. I thoroughly enjoyed it. And really, who would compare Grisham to Maugham, Plath, or Updike? A little bit like comparing apples to oranges. There's room for all of these on my reading list!
For a while, one John Grisham novel appears just like another one. This is probably the best one I have read in a while. Highly enjoyable.
THe audio version was very well done. The humor was very suttle and expertly done. A lawyer with a sense of humor is quite extraodianary. Loved the old lady at the bar and the young lawyer having scruples. Hope more of this is to come from Grisham.
I think John Grisham was getting a little mediocre on some of his latest books but I did like "The Litigators" as his humor in his characters are getting a little better. I agree with the person that said his humor is getting a little like Carl Hiaasen (whom I love!)
I REALLY liked
The Litigators a lot. It was quite funny in places and hilarious in others. My favorite John Grisham book is still
The Testament. Just thinking about it makes me want to read it again.

excellent grisham as usual; love his new whimsical and satirical lens of the legal profession
I read this book to be entertained and I was. I loved The Litigators and have been a Grisham fan for a long time. Liked that he injected humor into the story.
I too was disappointed with some of his past novels. Then he wrote The Litigators and I loved it! This was one of my favorite reads and I recommended it to several people who were looking for a good book.
First...I have never read a John Grisham book. So...I recently bought "The Litigators" and thought I would love it. Really, I could not get past page 80......plod, plod, plod....lots of character description, and very thinly at that....but nothing happening. Why would I be enticed to keep reading because the fancy pants lawyer went off a found a little dumpy firm. ACtually, I am a lawyer and have been in both situations. It STILL wasn't interesting. His language and his style is NOT imaginative or compelling. It isn't in the same world as W. Somerset Maugham, Sylvia Plath, John Updike......I've just recently read these authors, and I am stunned by their insights and the language they use to express it. Grisham is definitely not there......
