Yes Michele it is all the Sookie short stories that appeared in anthologies. This is the first time they all appear together in one copy. The next Sookie book comes out in May 2010 called "Dead in the family." I saw an interview with Harris and she said it was about the main characters family and somehow this information will tie together into a book

Kim | 19 comments Most absolutely! You'll be completely confused as to why in some books Sookie rightfully hates Bill and totally lost as to what's up with Eric.

Kim | 19 comments I've read all 9 books twice. I just started A TOUCH OF DEAD and so far it has helped fill in gaps like Claudette's murder, and when Sookie was informed of her cousin's murder. The series only briefly fills you in but A TOUCH OF DEAD makes actual short stories explaining the circumstances.

Tammy (g8rbucsgirl) | 3 comments I ordered the first 3 books and the 3rd book arrived first. So I started with that one and I didn't feel like I had missed a whole lot.

Sandra (sandram1967) | 67 comments I would suggest reading them in order. But if you can remember what happened in them you will probably be alright.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) With this series, I think it makes it much more potent to read in order. Too much happens that is carried on.

Lisa (mrslisat) | 1 comments I know I was completely confused in Definitely Dead when there was all the talk of Sookie's cousin Hadley. Every time a passage came up that I didn't remember reading, I would double check that I didn't skip a book! Eventually I figured out that there is a short story covering those events. I hated reading that book and not knowing about the events that took place before it.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) This subject was already covered in another thread and yes they should be read in order.

Nicolle (nicolleg1992) | 4 comments Yes! It does matter x I know from experience that it can get confusing if you read them out of order lol

Meg Myers (megmyersyahoocom) | 29 comments After thinking about this question for a while I have come to the conclusion that though a person should read the series from begining to end, I have found that harris actually explains in detail alot more than most authors...so in a way a person could actually start on book three and in a way know exactly whats going on. Though if they did that they are the ones who lose out because each book brings a lil something special to the table each and everytime.

Olivia (agirlslife) | 4 comments They will make a lot more sense if you read them in order. They build on each other. Also, if you are watching the show and reading the books out of order you are going to get mighty confused! If you can't get them at your library look for cheap used copies on Amazon.

Shannon | 2 comments You can usually get them at walmart.com for about 4 bucks a book. I would recommend reading them in order even though a lot of things are repeated from book to book there are some things that are not.
