K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Okay, found some information about which sites will spread the word about free books.

MIND YOU - this is the RAW list. It would be helpful to all if you investigate and report back as you try this.

This is the KINDLE BOARDS post I pulled this from:

http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php...

This is the first post that caught my eye:
I did not do any pre free promoting. Only tweeted a couple of times and facebooked twice when became free. Did not appear in Kindle Nation Daily so far as I can tell. Are we supposed to inform Kindle nation Daily or are they supposed to know? I think it would be useful for us to go over the steps one might take to improve the results when one goes free. I didn't know and I was afraid to say anything beforehand in case the book did not get to go free. For other lists do we inform them or do they know? What are the other lists? I think many others may plan this a lot better than I did.

Okay - the reply to that was THIS:

New releases apparently don't get picked up automatically at KND. I asked Steve about it yesterday and he replied: "Our database should pick it up, but you can give it a push if you go to our eBookTracker site, register or log in in the upper right corner, and enter it manually."

I went ahead and signed up and entered my book and it was picked up in their roster of freebies almost immediately.

Other sites to consider notifying in advance:
Pixel of Ink - they have an onsite form specifically for freebie notices

Ereader News Today - use the admin addie on their Contact page

Kindle on the Cheap - email form onsite

Free Kindle Books and Tips (fast becoming my favorite site!) - email Michael: kindle at gagler dot com

You can also announce the freebie at Authors on the Cheap on Facebook on the days it's free in addition to sending the notice to Kindle on the Cheap.

Okay - that is the SUM TOTAL of my knowledge.

Gotta Go.

Kewl. Just what I wanted to know right now, as LE MANS and THE MEYERSCO HELIX are going free at midnight Pacific time, less than ten hours away, and of SFFA has been done yet.

I'm looking at 'Swallow the Moon' and wondering when I should send it up. Still thinking that having the paperback in hand first is the best idea. Might be Valentine's Day.
