2012 January - Pick It For Me! Challenge
I have just started reading The Adoration Of Jenna Fox. I'm only a few pages in but so far it has captured my attention and I'm curious as to how the book will turn out.

Nairabell, I'm starting it today, I hope you can join me. :)
Hey Miss I finished
! I loved it! It might be my favorite in the series up to date. I really enjoy this series. I don't know why I never hunker down and read straight through it. Anyways thank you for the wonderful recommendation! Hopefully I'll have time to read another one this month. It'll depend though. Classes officially restarted today so my reading time is getting cut to maybe a quarter of the time I had. :/
Finished
As much as I wanted to love it, I didn't. It was only a 4-star book to me. Mainly cause Legion annoyed the hell out of me and Olivia was too timid for my taste to fit with Aeron. I didn't really feel their relationship til the end of the book. Otherwise, it was a good story.

I've finished "Daughter of Smoke and Bone". A beautiful book, really. 5 stars, and I'm not even a fantasy plot fun.
Ana wrote: "I've finished "Daughter of Smoke and Bone". A beautiful book, really. 5 stars, and I'm not even a fantasy plot fun."I read it recently and loved it too. I'm definitely recommending it next month.
BTW...I finished Nothing Ever Happens, which was a buddy read with Tiffany, Vi and other ladies. The book was realistic but sometimes that sucks for a romance (and that happened in this case.)
Anywho, I'll try to get to another of Tiffany's recs before the month is out. :)
Dragana,2/3
Welcome the New Year Daughter of the Blood
During the New Year
Victoria Alexander has become a favorite author recently and she didn't miss with this one. Such an enjoyable read. Even when her storylines are cliched she manages to make them so much fun to read and so fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! Thanks for the pick.
Celebrate the New Year
I enjoyed this book. I would call it paranormal lite and it was a fun light read. Some really funny ideas and an interesting addition of religion. Thanks for the pick!

Awww. Sorry to hear IR was just okay, Cathy. I haven't read it yet myself (coincidentally, I plan on starting it today) but I assumed since it was Ione, it would be great. Hopefully you'll have better luck with your next read.

No, I'm excited to read it. It's good for me to stretch myself. The only thing I really balk at is true horror stories and I hate depressing endings.

Sorry for disappearing on you Diane. It's been a manic week and I still can't believe it's Friday all ready! I should be starting tonight or tomorrow at the latest. How are you getting on?

Hi Pam! Are you still up for reading The Demon's Lexicon this weekend? I can start Sunday if you want?
Nairabell wrote: "Sorry for disappearing on you Diane. It's been a manic week and I still can't believe it's Friday all ready! I should be starting tonight or tomorrow at the latest. How are you getting on?"No problem. I'm not very far yet, only on chapter 9 (pg 128).
I've just finished reading The Adoration of Jenna Fox. I enjoyed it but it hasn't been the best book I've read this month. I liked the plot, it was unique, but I don't think the author developed the characters well enough. Overall, I gave it 3 stars. I don't know if I will be able to get on to any more of this months pifms since I have quite a few books that I need to finish this month, but if I have the time to spare I will try :D
Nancy, I finished
today. I hope that you liked it ok; I've got to say that although I thought that it was ok, I was disappointed in it. I like Julia London's books, but I just couldn't buy into the whole premise of the story, so it kind of fell flat for me. Thanks for doing the buddy read, though.
Fran wrote: "Hi Dawn (Kat In Hat)!I have to get Werewolf In The North Woods back to the library by January 19th. Would you be able to buddy read it with me starting in a few days? Let me know if this works f..."
I still haven't received my copy of Werewolf in the North Woods yet. I did just get And one last thing today, so we can definitely read it when ever you are ready.
Great Dawn, I would love to read And One Last Thing... with you. How about starting on Monday or Tuesday?
Ana wrote: "I've finished "Daughter of Smoke and Bone". A beautiful book, really. 5 stars, and I'm not even a fantasy plot fun."I'm glad you liked it. I meant to start a Buddy Read thread for us to discuss it but completely forgot. I've only read the first chapter so far, but I'm really intrigued by it.
Dee wrote: "Ana - i'm going to throw up a buddy read for Daughter of Smoke and Bone if you are interestedAna wrote: "Starting tomorrow "Daughter of Smoke and Bone". Looking forward!""
Hi Dee--Have you finished "Daughter of Smoke and Bone"? I am half way through it. The beginning was tough for me but now I am hooked. I think I had too much going on around me and I couldn't concentrate on the book :-)
I finished
for my buddy read with Lili. It tied up some loose ends that were originally left in the series, and was a quick entertaining read.
Nairabell wrote: "Pam wrote: "Nairabell--Finished Beyond the Highland Mist tonight. I liked it enough to add the next one to my TBR. Still planning on starting The Demon's Lexicon nex..."
I'm ready to start The Demon's Lexicon. Probably start after dinner tonight
Finished two more...
- 5 StarsAbsolutely loved this. And I'm wondering what took me so damn long to read it since it's been sitting on my tbr for what seems like forever. I'm officially jumping on the BDB bandwagon
-= 4 StarsOnly 4 stars on this one because although I couldn't seem to put this down, I found it hard to like the hero at times. But... I enjoyed it enough that I'm definitely going to continue the series because I just have to see what happens next. lol
*** 01/15/12In some parts of the book i just knew what would happen and that makes it weak for me. All the business with tattoos was so obviouse. Only thing that made it better was that there where more in the story then tattoos.
Im still glad i read it :)
Hi Jojo,I finished
scandal this morning and I don't know why I let this one hang around so long. I loved all the other books in the series and this was no exception. I really enjoyed it and I want Loretta Chase to follow me around and tell me what to say so I can be as witty as her books. :) Thanks for the great pick!
KarenF wrote: "I want Loretta Chase to follow me around and tell me what to say so I can be as witty as her books. :) "HAHAHAHAHAHA!! So true! She writes the wittiest characters.
I finished up Daughter of Smoke and Bone that Ruth Ann recommended to me the other day on the drive home from work...I love that world that Ms Taylor created, it seemed to real and went fantasical at the same time. Can't wait for book 2 that is going to be out in September (I think). the narrator, Kristina Hvam, was prefect for the audiobook
I finished my buddy read with Elke of Surrender yesterday. I liked the book, but was a little disappointed because for me it just didn't quite live up to all the raves I've heard about it. I did give it 4 stars though, and definitely plan on reading the other brothers' stories. Thanks for the recommendation Elke, and for reading it with me!
KarenH, I finished my pick Faefever.1/15/12 I give it 5 stars. Oh boy this one was chock full of surprises right up to the end. Mac is in trouble again. I cannot wait to read the next one to find out what happens. The end does not wrap up the story and leaves you on a cliffhanger so have the next book ready.

Glad to hear you liked it, Joyce! I really need to read that series - I loved KMM's Highlander series, but for some reason have just never found the time to start this one. So many books... :)Joyce wrote: "KarenH, I finished my pick Faefever.1/15/12 I give it 5 stars. Oh boy this one was chock full of surprises right up to the end. Mac is in trouble again. when you guys read book 4 in the Fever series, you'll want book 5 standing by...lol! I had to wait a week to get it (when it was released) and that was pure torture!
I finished Slave to Sensation. I liked it but I didn't love it. I kind of had a hard time getting into the story. I give it three stars.
Dee wrote: "when you guys read book 4 in the Fever series, you'll want book 5 standing by...lol! I had to wait a week to get it (when it was released) and that was pure torture!"That's part of the reason I haven't read it before now - I purposely waited until the entire series was out and I had it in my possession, and since then I just haven't managed to fit it into the various challenges!
Nici wrote: "i finished The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie and give it four stars. I really enjoyed the character development and the dialog. I loved that Ian wasn't just some cranky lord but ac..."Hi Nici! I'm sorry for the late reply. I'm soo thrilled that you enjoyed the book. I loved both Beth and Ian- although, I have a sweet spot for Ian.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the PIFM challenge. The PIFM challenge is pretty awesome. If I hadn't of joined my first PIFM (2010 i think), there would be a long list of books/authors that I wouldn't have read and enjoyed- which would include a few now favorite authors.
Kami wrote: "I finished Slave to Sensation. I liked it but I didn't love it. I kind of had a hard time getting into the story. I give it three stars."I think I gave the first book only three stars too, but now it's probably my favorite PNR. I love Nalini Singh's writing.
I finished Tempting the Beast, a great pick for me from Macwolf01(Elise).Although I have read several Breeds books already, I never actually read the first one. It was great to start from the beginning and get some interesting backround info.
The first several Breeds came from Elloras Cave and as expected from that publisher, it was heavy on sex. I usually have no complaints about that, LOL, but I like the world building of this series and actually wanted a little more story. I did love Merinus so much, and her sassy and strong attitude really made the story so enjoyable for me. 4*
Thanks for the push to finally get it off my tbr Elise! Can't wait to hear what you think of it :)

I'm glad that you liked your rec's. The BDB series is one of my favorites. I hope that you enjoy the rest of them.
I just finished Immortal in Death which Lili recommended. I felt like I was usually a step ahead of Dallas, but I still really enjoyed the book. I like watching the evolving relationship between Eve and Roarke and really liked the addition of Peabody.
