Alyssa: I just finished
and really liked it; thanks for the recommendation. It dragged a bit in the middle for me (perhaps b/c it was similar to the previous books in the series), but had a satisfying end. Thanks!

I just finished Soulless last night. And I loved it. It was a comical, historical romance with a paranormal element set in an alternative history. Heroine was strong and independent. And the hero sizzling hot. How could I not have loved it!
Isabella,Have you started the book yet? What do you think so far? Do you want to set up a buddy read thread or we can message each other?

Started reading it, and am really liking it so far!
Tiffanny, If you want to do a Buddy Read for either of the books I suggested in that category for you, just let me know. I am doing one with Carla now, but I will be ready to start another book by the end of the week, since I usually read several at once.
Brett wrote: "Isabella,Have you started the book yet? What do you think so far? Do you want to set up a buddy read thread or we can message each other?"
Yes I did and I'm somewhere in the middle of it, we should have started one thread for it, I don't like to think it's too late I'm going to settle one for us right now. I'm loving it!! The writing is amazing, and the story is complex especially at the beginning but once you're through it, it gets really good, the scenes are well-set and Kate Daniels is incredible!
Mandy, finished my second pick. Slow Ride was a fun sexy read but not as good as the first two in the series. A solid 3.5 stars. I liked it and I will certainly continue the series when the next comes out this summer.
If anyone would like to join us, Brett and I begun a buddy read of Magic Bites Anyone is welcome to join us we will discuss our thoughts in here
Elke wrote: "Hi, KarenH,Starting Surrender tonight. Do you want to do this read through PM's?"
That sounds fine - I don't think anyone else is reading it. I tried to send you a PM a couple of days ago though, and got a message that you aren't accepting PMs...
Oh, I should finish what I'm currently reading tonight, so I'll be starting tomorrow.

Absolutely!
Ok, finished one of my picks Hearts in Darkness. I am starting my other one today! Thanks again Heather for the picks!
I finished Trace of Fever today and as much as I loved When You Dare, this one was a bit of a struggle to get through. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I will pick up the next one in the series, to round out the whole story and I'm glad to get it off my TBR. Won't be one of my faves for 2012 though.I'm going to try to fit in Burn the Night before the end of the month, but I've got a couple others slated first, so we'll see.

Absolutely!"
I should be able to finally start this tonight. I'm looking forward to it as well.
Just finished Breathing Roomby Susan Elizabeth Phillips. By chapter two I thought the main characters were TSTL, by Chapter five I couldn't put it down 5 stars all around.
I have finished
today it was a great book but to me is was not as good as the Aisling Grey guardian series

I am enjoying it, but not totally won over yet. How does Keira think that her schemes will end well?

I know, it is a fun read, but like a train wreck that you see about to happen, you just have to watch it!! Part of what will make this plot fun, I think.
2012 January - Pick It For Me! ChallengeDuration:01.01.2012. - 31.01.2012.
Books read: 1/3
Rebecca picked for me. :)
Welcome the New Year:
Second Day (book from my favorite genre - fantasy) ~ The Host
During the New Year:
Poor Cat (book from my TBR that has been neglected) ~ Good Omens
✓ Celebrate The New Year (Buddy Reads)
I really liked this book. Characters are fun and sexy. Thank you for introducing me to Katie MacAlister, Rebecca, I have a feeling she will become one of my favorite authors. :)
Just finished Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James and it was excellent, 5 stars rating.OH MY GOD!
Talk about an amazing and wonderful surprise… I’m not so much into BSDM since it’s just not my cup of tea but sometimes I’m in the mood to read about it. As far as BSDM goes, this book was pretty mild on the physical side, but the dom/sub thing was clearly there.
I found the characters so very, very interesting… so complex but likable at the same time. Ana is a great female lead, I really liked that she stood up for herself, what she believed and felt that was best for her at all times, even at the end (and I love her subconscious and her inner goddess… that was just hilariously brilliant!). She was annoying at times with all her endless questioning about Christian’s actions and words, it was like listening to a teenager with a crush… but then, I guess when you compare both characters and the situation she was in, it all becomes understandable.
As for Christian… wow… how to describe him?… complex, weird, sad, lonely… I somehow pity him because he can’t change overnight what he’s been and done for years in order to make his relationship with Ana works, he tries but is not something that comes easy for him… I feel sympathy and compassion when I think of him, I do like him and I want him to be happy.
I can’t wait to read the next one in the series, I want to know what was the whole “situation” at the end… I somehow think it has to do with Mrs. Robinson…
I finished Touch the Dark today. Jojo and i buddy-read it. It was...I don't know, because I have no idea what happened. So much information was being dumped, it was like an avalanche. The first one keeled me over and I remained buried under it even as more was dumped on top. So um, yes. I read it, but I haven't the foggiest idea what it was about. I am going to go on with the next book, because many people, including Sue like it, and I've heard the books get a lot better as they go along, and because I wanna know what happened, dammit! :D
Lady Jaye wrote: "I finished Touch the Dark today. Jojo and i buddy-read it. It was...I don't know, because I have no idea what happened. It took me almost two years to get back to the series, and I'm glad I finally did because the rest of the series is not nearly as confusing as this first installment. And some of them even have a fair bit of humor in them. I love Pritkin.

I'm glad you liked it! I HOPE it will be available to Nook users one of these days...
Brett wrote: "I finished
and I liked it way better then I thought I would."Me too I thought I wouldn't like it as the first book. Both were similar but it was funny and enjoyable reading. I'm glad you liked it too.
I finished
which Isabella actually recommended to me back in November. But it took two months to get a copy from my local library. I just adored this book. It's hardly a typical UF or PNR, and I'm sure it's not for everyone. But I was captivated by the imagery and texture of the story. The style reminded me a little bit of Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury (perhaps my all time favorite book) and now I feel an urge to reread Something Wicked This Way Comes

You could always buy it and change it into an epub format using something like Calibre.

...or you can go directly to the publisher's website and purchase it in ePub format, then download it to your nook.
Hi Dawn (Kat In Hat)!I have to get Werewolf In The North Woods back to the library by January 19th. Would you be able to buddy read it with me starting in a few days? Let me know if this works for you, if not maybe we can buddy read And One Last Thing....towards the end of the month.

Sure. Take the obvious approach.

YOu are so right...
I finished Dragon Bound, my buddy read with Polina. It was very cute. I gave it three stars. I liked Dragos the dragon a lot. Pia was a bit silly. But they were cute together and had some steamy scenes.
Kimberly, I just finished Hidden Summit and I really enjoyed it! Thank you for the great pick, I would have put it off for a while and I am so glad I didn't! I am not sure if I will get to any of your other picks, but there is a lot of month left so maybe. Thank you again!
Read Touch the Dark this weekend in a buddy read with Lady Jaye - it all seemed a bit rushed and crammed full of characters and events - but it was different enough for me to be interested in whats going to happen so I know I'll carry on reading the series.
I finished my buddy read with Lexa of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I thought this was an awesome book and I gave it 5 stars. I will probably not wait long to start the second book. There are some very disturbing and twisted parts that make you uncomfortable, but it really does go with this crazy mystery and characters. I have heard that some people found it to be a hard read, but I didn't find this to be the case. I found it interesting and engaging from the beginning. It seems slow at first because there is not much action in the first part of the book, but it was never boring. I enjoyed the authors descriptive writing and felt immersed into the Swedish culture.
Both my reads this month have been buddy reads. I finished reading Murder at the Vicarage with Sue. It was a good read. The mystery completely blindsided us both. Will definitely try to complete reading all of Miss Marple's books.
Miss Marple's :)I've read most of the AC books but I'm doing a re-read on audio in order of publication (for each series.) It was supposed to last me a few years but I'm on my third book in less than 3 weeks.

Heh. Have you read all of Poirot's books too?
Yup. :) Pretty much.I'm listening to one Poirot and one Miss Marple. :) I've listened both #1s and I'm now on Poirot #2. :) Then I'll probably go to Miss Marple #2, which I believe I haven't read.
I started reading the books when I was a teenager and I read them all out of order and some of them in Spanish so I can't remember some of them. :)
