Hello and welcome! I agree that I wish I'd thought to explore the groups earlier!

Welcome to the group! Cannot wait until you jump in to join us. We have some challenges that you can try too :) A monthly challenge is always on-going and we also do 3 month challenges with a new one starting in January. Happy reading and discussing!
I'm glad you found us! And you're not too late to help select picks for January. You can nominate books here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7...Be sure to check our bookshelf first; steampunk seems to be a popular genre for our group reads!
I just joined, too! I have to admit though, I'm a little confused as to how everything works right now. I feel a little overwhelmed, but I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually. :)
Tanya wrote: "I am new too and would like more information about the challenges!"Hi Tanya! We have a couple of different challenges going.
First of all, there's the ongoing monthly challenge. Each month a different "task" is picked and we try to read books that fit. For example, December's challenge is to read a book where one character gives a gift to another. Kellee and Jennifer W. run the monthly challenges. Here's a link: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...
We also have quarterly challenges that are member-run. Running a challenge is a volunteer job, so most of the time the person in charge has a general idea of tasks and takes suggestions to make them fun for everyone. A new one is about to start on January 1st and runs through March 31th. Here's a link to the discussion and potential tasks, along with the rules: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7...
And, we always have two books each month that we read and discuss as a group. One is themed and the other is free choice. We nominate books that fit the theme, and then vote on which we want to read. Here's a link to nominations for January's read: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7...
Hope that helps! :)
