William Mego (willmego) So if we select the top vote getters that weren't selected for January, that gives us 2 books to begin with. My question for the group is:
#1: Should we limit the number of books each person can nominate per month?
#2: If so, then how many?
#3: If not, then what instead?

William Mego (willmego) My thoughts are,
#1: Yes.
#2: 1 (maybe two).

my reasoning is that we had 12 books for January, and no book received more than 4 votes, and several books got but one vote. Limiting the total number of books possible might help drive selection a little better. Also, the group is bigger than when we started the poll, so we would still have a large number of books to vote on, potentially.

(Does dramatic effect work in text?)

Logophile | 41 comments I agree -- it would be anarchy! Anarchy! Eye strain!

1. Yes, we should limit the number of nominations
2. One is good to start. If our first round is any indication, we shouldn't have any trouble collecting nominations even with this limit. But if, say, we get fewer than three in a particular month, maybe we could re-open the nominations for a second choice per person as well.

Jenny (jeoblivion) Agreed! ("Traitor!!!" scream all books on my 6 pages-long to-read-list) But yes, it makes more sense to have less.
