Glenn | 24 comments I have been reading the whole series from the start. I didn't start reading until the HBO show had started and only after my friends told me that I had to. I am now in the second half of Feast of Crows and can't make myself pick it up and finish the book. I had switched from Audio books to text for Feast but I just can't make myself finish.

I just find I don't care about most of the characters any longer. The ones I do care about are so far apart I lose track of them before I get back to reading about them again.

I wish I could just read the Aria and Tyrion parts and be done with it. I really don't care about anyone at Kings Landing. I just feel the rest of the story of filler to pad what should be a couple of novellas into a multibook series.

Thanks for reading

John | 19 comments I felt that way the first time I read A Feast For Crows, and I still find the book somewhat tedious (I am currently reading the entire series again before jumping into A Dance With Dragons).

I re-read the series every time a new book is released, and each time I read the these books I pick up on more details. Knowing all those details makes A Feast For Crows much more interesting.

The more you know and understand the characters in A Feast For Crows, the more you will enjoy the book.

So far I have read through the first three books 3 times and I am currently reading Feast for the second time. Knowing the characters as I do now, I find the Jaime, Cersei, and Brienne chapters much more interesting.

Martin made a conscious decision to split the POV's into two books (Feast and Dance) so the fan favorite characters Jon, Tyrion, and Dani will be in Dance with a time line that parallels Feast. The big disappointment is that I do not think there is much about Arya in Dance either

Mike Rentas (mikerentas) | 65 comments A Feast for Crows is undoubtedly the least engaging of the series, but it's worth pushing through. Things do pick up a bit at the end, and it's a good book in retrospect. Brienne is the Arya of that book, in the sense that she has the most interesting plot.

Neil (rucknrun) I am working my way through A Storm of Swords. I gave up on the series a while back. I am liking it the second time through. I hope a Feast of Crows is not too bad. I am listening to it though. I am happy to have something to listen too on my commute.

Doug (theonceandfuturedoug) One of the benefits of having so much time between Martin's books is that you have tome to recuperate after having read one of Martin's books.

I usually follow up any reading of Song of Ice and Fire with something light, say from Terry Pratchett or a similar author. Something I know I can just sit back and enjoy without thinking about it. Martin's books are brilliant but taxing.

Hamish Buchan | 10 comments If you found FfC tedious then I have bad news about DwD. I hope you like 10 page descriptions of every meal in the book with very few significant plot events.

GRRM appears to have writers block around the plot of this series and seems to think that people are interested in his descriptive writing skills around trivial details of his created world.
