This will be an open discussion of Second Grave on the Left by Darynda Jones. PLEASE EXPECT SPOILERS!

Goodreads Synopsis:
When Charley is rudely awakened in the middle of the night by her best friend who tells her to get dressed quickly and tosses clothes out of the closet at her, she can’t help but wonder what Cookie’s up to. Leather scrunch boots with a floral miniskirt? Together? Seriously? Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown. They show up at the coffee shop, but no Mimi. But Charley finds a message on the bathroom wall. Mimi left a clue, a woman’s name. Mimi’s husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been found murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message.

Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Will Cookie ever get a true fashion sense? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel them as they do?

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Heather’s Questions for Chapters 1-4

1. Who else thought this book was starting the exact same way as the 1st one with Charley being awoken by a ghost? I probably would have told Cookie to take a flying leap at 2am. I’m not a nice person that early in the morning. Lol. Cookie is very frantic as she’s trying to stuff Charley in her trunk. How did you like the kickoff of this book?

2. Did I miss something? Why would Charley think Janelle’s name and number on the restroom wall would be important in finding Mimi? Any clue what the code or clue written underneath Janella’s name is in reference to?

3. Warren Jacobs comes in with a gun. No panic or questions about it. Did this seem right to you? Charley read that he felt guilty about something and later in chapter 4 we learn that he’s being questioned about a death. Charley didn’t seem to think he was guilty about something illegal. Do you think she might be reading him wrong?

4. Which are you feeling more worried about: Dead Trunk Guy or Cop Owen Vaughn? Vaughn came off very threatening, or was I reading too much into it? And what happened to Charley’s rule about ghosts in her bathroom, let alone in her shower?

5. Reyes is back and nearly kills Charley in her shower? Was it his essence that fell on her bleeding or was it his actual body? Any idea who/what attached him, what kind of animal could cause that much damage?

6. Reyes is very evasive in answering her questions. Is it really smart that Charley is fighting to save his body when she doesn’t know all the details or issues she is facing? Seems a little beyond smart or realistic to me. Thoughts?

7. Am I the only one worried about Charley’s dad? What is making him so upset? And the dark smudge in the Charley’s pictures? Reyes or some other kind of being? Do you think it’s reasonable that demons haven’t found her when she’s this super bright being?

8. Too early to tell who the posing FBI agents are working for but it gives hope that Mimi is still alive and okay. What are your theories on what is hunting Mimi? As it seems to tie into high school and Janelle, can this tie into Charley’s high school tormentor Owen Vaughn?

9. I find myself still frustrated with the relationship between Uncle Bob and Charley. Having her tailed? Is he just in his actions? And his assumptions that she’s involved with the Mimi issue and jumping down her throat for not telling him all of what she knows (less than 6 hours after she found out about it all). Please tell me that I’m not the only one wanting to slam a door in his face. lol

~Megan~ (megadee) Megan's Answers for Chapters 1-4

I think Charley really really wanted to tell Cookie to take a hike LOL! I liked the beginning of the book...mainly because I love Cookie!

2. Did I miss something? Why would Charley think Janelle’s name and number on the restroom wall would be important in finding Mimi? Any clue what the code or clue written underneath Janella’s name is in reference to?
I guess because of the fresh marker stuff in the trash? I was wondering the same thing. I'm not sure what the code means, but I'm anxious to find out.

I think Charley has the right of it....he's way too obvious a choice, and she's usually a pretty good judge of people.

4. Which are you feeling more worried about: Dead Trunk Guy or Cop Owen Vaughn? Vaughn came off very threatening, or was I reading too much into it? And what happened to Charley’s rule about ghosts in her bathroom, let alone in her shower?
THE COP!! Whoa, he was super creepy. What in the world could've happened in high school to cause that kind of animosity? I think Dead Trunk Guy is going to be important. He's been brought up too many times. Ghosts in the shower with me would super freak me out.

5. Reyes is back and nearly kills Charley in her shower? Was it his essence that fell on her bleeding or was it his actual body? Any idea who/what attached him, what kind of animal could cause that much damage?
Had to be his essence, right? He said he can't like teleport his body or whatever. The demons who have him scare me...I wonder if they will look human or will be animal-like?

6. Reyes is very evasive in answering her questions. Is it really smart that Charley is fighting to save his body when she doesn’t know all the details or issues she is facing? Seems a little beyond smart or realistic to me. Thoughts?
I don't think she has much judgment when it comes to him. I'm not sure I could think coherently with all his hotness surrounding me. Yum!

7. Am I the only one worried about Charley’s dad? What is making him so upset? And the dark smudge in the Charley’s pictures? Reyes or some other kind of being? Do you think it’s reasonable that demons haven’t found her when she’s this super bright being?
Very worried about Charley's dad! I feel like he knows something and hasn't been sharing that info with Charley. I agree that it's unreasonable some demons haven't found her before...unless Reyes has been keeping them away? Maybe that's why he always seems to be around her.

8. Too early to tell who the posing FBI agents are working for but it gives hope that Mimi is still alive and okay. What are your theories on what is hunting Mimi? As it seems to tie into high school and Janelle, can this tie into Charley’s high school tormentor Owen Vaughn?
I definitely think Vaughn has something to do with it.

9. I find myself still frustrated with the relationship between Uncle Bob and Charley. Having her tailed? Is he just in his actions? And his assumptions that she’s involved with the Mimi issue and jumping down her throat for not telling him all of what she knows (less than 6 hours after she found out about it all). Please tell me that I’m not the only one wanting to slam a door in his face. lol
Bob annoys the crap out of me. After all she's done for him, he should treat her a little better.

This is going to sound bad, but I didn't make the connection to the beginning of the first book LOL I'm trying to figure out why Cookie wanted her in the trunk. Yes, Mimi said to come alone, so why was she dragging Charley along?

2. Did I miss something? Why would Charley think Janelle’s name and number on the restroom wall would be important in finding Mimi? Any clue what the code or clue written underneath Janella’s name is in reference to?I also was curious as to how she figured finding that written there would be important. And did Cookie know Janelle too?

It was rather strange that no one thought anything about him waving a gun around. Charley may be reading him wrong. How would he have known where to go? He couldn't have gotten to Cookie's that quick after she called their house, could he?

4. Which are you feeling more worried about: Dead Trunk Guy or Cop Owen Vaughn? Vaughn came off very threatening, or was I reading too much into it? And what happened to Charley’s rule about ghosts in her bathroom, let alone in her shower? Cop Owen Vaughn was a little strange. And he tried to run her over in high school? Did he get in trouble for that? Wouldn't attempted murder void your chances at the police academy? And yep, her no ghosts in the bathroom rule was broken there LOL

5. Reyes is back and nearly kills Charley in her shower? Was it his essence that fell on her bleeding or was it his actual body? Any idea who/what attached him, what kind of animal could cause that much damage? I think it was his essence that fell on her. No clue who attacked him. If it was the demons, wouldn't they know where his body is already?

6. Reyes is very evasive in answering her questions. Is it really smart that Charley is fighting to save his body when she doesn’t know all the details or issues she is facing? Seems a little beyond smart or realistic to me. Thoughts? Yep, Reyes is being evasive. maybe Charley thinks that Reyes won't have a way to be incorporeal if he doesn't have a body to shift from or that his essence/spirit will have to go back to Hell if he doesn't have a body.

7. Am I the only one worried about Charley’s dad? What is making him so upset? And the dark smudge in the Charley’s pictures? Reyes or some other kind of being? Do you think it’s reasonable that demons haven’t found her when she’s this super bright being? We talked about Charley's dad and him letting his wife treat Charley so badly when we read the last book. Could he be feeling guilty about that? As for the shadows in the pictures, I'm not sure what that is.

8.Too early to tell who the posing FBI agents are working for but it gives hope that Mimi is still alive and okay. What are your theories on what is hunting Mimi? As it seems to tie into high school and Janelle, can this tie into Charley’s high school tormentor Owen Vaughn? I don't know if Charley's high school torment has anything to do with Janelle and Mimi. What is the age difference between Charley and Cookie and Mimi?

9. I find myself still frustrated with the relationship between Uncle Bob and Charley. Having her tailed? Is he just in his actions? And his assumptions that she’s involved with the Mimi issue and jumping down her throat for not telling him all of what she knows (less than 6 hours after she found out about it all). Please tell me that I’m not the only one wanting to slam a door in his face. lol Yep, I wanted to smack Uncle Bob too. He has no right to have Charley tailed. And as for him jumping down her throat about Mimi was uncalled for. It's not like she's had much of a chance to call him with all that is going on.

I have to say, I've enjoyed the humor so far a bit more than last time :)

I thought the book started the same way as the previous one. Though I would have grabbed Cookie and asked her what was going on before leaving the apartment.

2. Did I miss something? Why would Charley think Janelle’s name and number on the restroom wall would be important in finding Mimi? Any clue what the code or clue written underneath Janella’s name is in reference to?
She reaches the conclusion that its a clue because it looks nicer or better written than the rest of the writing. I think anyone is capable of writing well, so I don't see a particular reason for it to be a clue.

No, he's probably innocent although his reaction is exagerated.

4. Which are you feeling more worried about: Dead Trunk Guy or Cop Owen Vaughn? Vaughn came off very threatening, or was I reading too much into it? And what happened to Charley’s rule about ghosts in her bathroom, let alone in her shower?
I think the Cop is the more immediate danger to Charley.

5. Reyes is back and nearly kills Charley in her shower? Was it his essence that fell on her bleeding or was it his actual body? Any idea who/what attached him, what kind of animal could cause that much damage? Probably a demon.

6. Reyes is very evasive in answering her questions. Is it really smart that Charley is fighting to save his body when she doesn’t know all the details or issues she is facing? Seems a little beyond smart or realistic to me. Thoughts? Ok, I'll be honest I wanted to slap her. Reyes has lived for ages and has all the facts, why not trust him? All he has done has been to prevent the demons from finding Charley, so now she is going to walk into a trap knowingly? Her attitude felt like a 15/yo to me.

7.Am I the only one worried about Charley’s dad? What is making him so upset? And the dark smudge in the Charley’s pictures? Reyes or some other kind of being? Do you think it’s reasonable that demons haven’t found her when she’s this super bright being? I think it's Reyes in the photos.

8.Too early to tell who the posing FBI agents are working for but it gives hope that Mimi is still alive and okay. What are your theories on what is hunting Mimi? As it seems to tie into high school and Janelle, can this tie into Charley’s high school tormentor Owen Vaughn? Possibly

9.I find myself still frustrated with the relationship between Uncle Bob and Charley. Having her tailed? Is he just in his actions? And his assumptions that she’s involved with the Mimi issue and jumping down her throat for not telling him all of what she knows (less than 6 hours after she found out about it all). Please tell me that I’m not the only one wanting to slam a door in his face. lol He owes Charley big time and shoud treat her with more respect.

Carolyn F. Two funny dialogues:

"Bigwigs had to follow the constructs of the law just like medium-sized and little wigs."

"Cookie was on fire. ... If you didn't count the dropped calls, the slow Internet access, and the lashing from an 80 year old woman claiming she was Batman when Cookie dialed a wrong number. Cook was getting a little annoyed with my repeated impersonation of the woman. She really shouldn't have put her on speakerphone if she didn't want to reap the consequences."

I'm at page 157!

Tracey Smith | 415 comments OK so I'm just going to jump into this one without having read book one, forgive my ignorance :)

Heather’s Questions for Chapters 1-4

Not having read the first book I had no expectations, but was immediately hooked by the humor in the writing. I like how real the characters feel in their interactions with each other. I love the sarcastic wit and self depracating humor in Charley's thoughts, it's refreshing that although she is super natural she is still flawed and not some natural born bad-ass.

2. Did I miss something? Why would Charley think Janelle’s name and number on the restroom wall would be important in finding Mimi? Any clue what the code or clue written underneath Janella’s name is in reference to?

Well apparently her PI skills clued her in that the writing on the wall didn't look like graffiti and therefore must be a message. However Brad the cook mentioned that a waitresses name and number were written on a mens room wall underneath a poem which leads me to believe there is a lot of writing on the walls. That just makes it even less believable that this writing would stand out, especially since Charley doesn't know Mimi and wouldnt' recognize her hand writing. No clue what the numbers mean.

If he believed his wife was in danger, possibly being held hostage inside the diner or something similar it would make sense that he would have a gun. The ease with which Cookie took the gun away takes away any kind of dangerous vibe that would be associated with waving a gun around. So far I'm with Charley that his guilt is probably not directly connected to his wife's disappearance. But with the added info in chap 4 I'm wondering if he killed some guy because he thought the guy was having an affair with his wife. He did admit that he thought she was cheating. And I'm wondering if it has anything to do with dead trunk guy. It did say the guy who was murdered was a car salesman. Although dead trunk guy is described as looking homeless, so I could be way off :)

4. Which are you feeling more worried about: Dead Trunk Guy or Cop Owen Vaughn? Vaughn came off very threatening, or was I reading too much into it? And what happened to Charley’s rule about ghosts in her bathroom, let alone in her shower?

Cop Owen Vaughn is definitely more foreboding in my opinion. Dead trunk guy is just kind of there, not really threatening. I was not aware of Charley's no-ghosts-in-the-bathroom-rule, not having read the first book, however if I were her I would definitely have that rule! Even though she described him as not really seeing her, I could never take a shower with a dead guy! Well at least not a creepy, shaggy, homeless looking dead guy. Now a sexy vampire-dead guy... But that's a different book. LOL

5. Reyes is back and nearly kills Charley in her shower? Was it his essence that fell on her bleeding or was it his actual body? Any idea who/what attached him, what kind of animal could cause that much damage?

I don't know a lot about Reyes powers, but he did tell Charley that he was not able to make his corporeal body disappear which it apparently appeared to do in a video tape. That being said I don't think it was his actual body falling through the ceiling. She did say she could feel dead trunk guy when she poked him, so it would stand to reason that she would feel an entity fall on top of her. I think the wounds were caused by the demons that are attacking his body wherever it is.

6. Reyes is very evasive in answering her questions. Is it really smart that Charley is fighting to save his body when she doesn’t know all the details or issues she is facing? Seems a little beyond smart or realistic to me. Thoughts?

I think he is being evasive to protect her and she knows it. I think she would endanger herself to protect him and he knows it. They both seem willing to sacrifice themselves for each other, and are more concerned with the other's well being over their own. This is a pretty common theme in romance/action stories so I wasn't really surprised by it. I would have been more surprised if she would've been like "ok sure go ahead and let yourself die so I can be safe."

7. Am I the only one worried about Charley’s dad? What is making him so upset? And the dark smudge in the Charley’s pictures? Reyes or some other kind of being? Do you think it’s reasonable that demons haven’t found her when she’s this super bright being?

I don't really know Charley's dad beyond this first description, so no I guess I wasn't really worried about him. I don't know how much he knows about her abilites, and so my first impression was that he was just figuring out her darker connections. I think it's Reyes in the pictures. Reyes told her that demons can't see her, and I guess I took him at his word on that. I think her purpose is to be a guide for lost souls and therefore glows like a beacon for them, demons don't have souls (I'm guessing) so maybe that's why they can't see her.

8. Too early to tell who the posing FBI agents are working for but it gives hope that Mimi is still alive and okay. What are your theories on what is hunting Mimi? As it seems to tie into high school and Janelle, can this tie into Charley’s high school tormentor Owen Vaughn?

I thought it was really weird that the FBI agents were described as looking like brothers but had different last names. Clones perhaps? LOL. No clue really. The high school connection seems to coincidental to be coincidence. Mimi and Janelle having a high school connection, and Charley running into a guy who tried to kill (or maim) her in high school. It has to be related. Although not sure how at this point. I definitely think Mimi's disappearance will have some sort of paranormal connection and not just a standard kidnapping/murder situation. I don't think the fake FBI guys were human because of the way she described their blue eyes as being transparent. That seemed odd to me.

9. I find myself still frustrated with the relationship between Uncle Bob and Charley. Having her tailed? Is he just in his actions? And his assumptions that she’s involved with the Mimi issue and jumping down her throat for not telling him all of what she knows (less than 6 hours after she found out about it all). Please tell me that I’m not the only one wanting to slam a door in his face. lol

Seriously she just found out about Mimi! Did he want her to call him at 2 am? I'm just meeting him for the first time and he seems a bit unreasonable to me. But maybe just overprotective because he cares with the whole tailing thing.

Tracey Smith | 415 comments @ Susan #4... I thought the same thing! How could he be a cop if he tried to kill someone in high school?!?

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Lisa Kay’s Answers to Heather’s Questions for Chapters 1-4

It was okay. I wouldn’t have liked to be awakened then either, but her friend sounded pretty frantic. That would have sobered me pretty quick. I really like Cookie, too. I’m with Susan on this one. Why the trunk and why bring her along if she’s supposed to come alone?

2. Did I miss something? Why would Charley think Janelle’s name and number on the restroom wall would be important in finding Mimi? Any clue what the code or clue written underneath Janella’s name is in reference to?
Then I missed something too! Not sure.

Really! Talk about desensitized. I don’t know if Charley is reading him wrong or not, but I lean toward reading him right b/c I don’t think he’s guilty.

4. Which are you feeling more worried about: Dead Trunk Guy or Cop Owen Vaughn? Vaughn came off very threatening, or was I reading too much into it? And what happened to Charley’s rule about ghosts in her bathroom, let alone in her shower?
Owen Vaughn! LOL! Really! I don’t think you were reading too much into it. Inconsistency between books. Was trunk guy trying to give her a heads up about Reyes coming through the ceiling?

5. Reyes is back and nearly kills Charley in her shower? Was it his essence that fell on her bleeding or was it his actual body? Any idea who/what attached him, what kind of animal could cause that much damage?
I didn’t understand the whole thing. “Beware the wounded animal.” ??

6. Reyes is very evasive in answering her questions. Is it really smart that Charley is fighting to save his body when she doesn’t know all the details or issues she is facing? Seems a little beyond smart or realistic to me. Thoughts?
He’s keeping something from her. Hard to make an eval if I don’t have all the info. Still, I think he is trying to protect her.

7. Am I the only one worried about Charley’s dad? What is making him so upset? And the dark smudge in the Charley’s pictures? Reyes or some other kind of being? Do you think it’s reasonable that demons haven’t found her when she’s this super bright being?
I feel like I’m answering every question with “I don’t know!” LOL! Very good question about her being bright.

8. Too early to tell who the posing FBI agents are working for but it gives hope that Mimi is still alive and okay. What are your theories on what is hunting Mimi? As it seems to tie into high school and Janelle, can this tie into Charley’s high school tormentor Owen Vaughn?
Yeah. I think there is a connection.

9. I find myself still frustrated with the relationship between Uncle Bob and Charley. Having her tailed? Is he just in his actions? And his assumptions that she’s involved with the Mimi issue and jumping down her throat for not telling him all of what she knows (less than 6 hours after she found out about it all). Please tell me that I’m not the only one wanting to slam a door in his face. lol
Nope. Slam the door!

#1 – I like Cookie too. ☺

#2 – Good answer.

#4 – You’re right. Uber Creepy Cop! And about Dead Trunk Guy too.

#6 – Again, good point. LOL! Me neither.

#8 – You could be right.

#1 – Me too! WTH?

#3 – All I could figure out is that they must see a lot of gun waving.

#4 – You would think they would let him in the academy, wouldn’t you?!

#5 – His essence? Hmmmm. You could be right.

# 7 – Yeah, maybe he’s feeling guilty.

#4 – LOL!

#5 – I think you’re right about the wounds.

#6 – LOL! Good point about romance books. **hee hee**

#7 – He did? He told her demons could see her? I missed that…I listening to all this a second time, so maybe I’ll catch it this time through.

#8 – Maybe they are half-brothers? Good catch about the eyes.

Lina | 5563 comments Heather’s Questions for Chapters 1-4

I quite liked the symmetry of it. Plus a lot seems to happen to our Charley in the middle of the night, so it was less of "oh, just like the start of the last book" and more of "poor thing, she can't seem to get a good night's sleep without interruption."

2. Did I miss something? Why would Charley think Janelle’s name and number on the restroom wall would be important in finding Mimi? Any clue what the code or clue written underneath Janella’s name is in reference to? I think it was the neatness of the writing that made her think it wasn't supposed to be regular graffitti. I think the R, S and L are left right and .. maybe South... and the numbers are the number of spaces in that direction to work out a clue... LOL, I'm stabbing in the dark here!

No, definitely iffy, but I also trust Charley's senses that he's not guilty in this.

4. Which are you feeling more worried about: Dead Trunk Guy or Cop Owen Vaughn? Vaughn came off very threatening, or was I reading too much into it? And what happened to Charley’s rule about ghosts in her bathroom, let alone in her shower? I'm thinking Dead Trunk Guy must somehow be linked to the case in a roundabout way, but Owen Vaughn gave me the heebyjeebies! *shudder*

5. Reyes is back and nearly kills Charley in her shower? Was it his essence that fell on her bleeding or was it his actual body? Any idea who/what attached him, what kind of animal could cause that much damage? The demons, but I thought he was talking about himself when he told her to beware of wounded animals. As if explaining that he attacked her by instinct because he was hurt and didn't realise it was her, not because he actually meant her harm.

6. Reyes is very evasive in answering her questions. Is it really smart that Charley is fighting to save his body when she doesn’t know all the details or issues she is facing? Seems a little beyond smart or realistic to me. Thoughts? I agree. not realistic, and for all that Charley is supposed to be a bit of a smart-arse, she came across as kinda "girly" in that scene.

7. Am I the only one worried about Charley’s dad? What is making him so upset? And the dark smudge in the Charley’s pictures? Reyes or some other kind of being? Do you think it’s reasonable that demons haven’t found her when she’s this super bright being? The dark smudge reminded me of the scene in "The Sixth Sense" movie where Cole's mum notices there's always a refracted light next to Coles in all his pictures from when he was a baby. As for Charley's dad, I;m wondering if there are marriage problems, otherwise why had he not gone home... and no, not reasonable that the demons don't see Charley. I'm hoping I'm not coming across as too harsh so far, but I'm having a hard time suspending belief for parts of the story that just seem so fantastical when the rest of the story is edgy and witty and quite intelligent humour.

8. Too early to tell who the posing FBI agents are working for but it gives hope that Mimi is still alive and okay. What are your theories on what is hunting Mimi? As it seems to tie into high school and Janelle, can this tie into Charley’s high school tormentor Owen Vaughn? Oooh, hadn't thought of Owen being connected, that'll be interesting to find out. Too early yet to have my own theories...

9. I find myself still frustrated with the relationship between Uncle Bob and Charley. Having her tailed? Is he just in his actions? And his assumptions that she’s involved with the Mimi issue and jumping down her throat for not telling him all of what she knows (less than 6 hours after she found out about it all). Please tell me that I’m not the only one wanting to slam a door in his face. lol I could understand an undercover bodyguard for her, if he was really worried about her being in danger from Reyes, but this felt more like it was about the job, not worry. II think a good door slamming might be just the thing for him!

#1 – I hadn’t thought of it that way, but I like your thinking.

#2 – Well, you had me convinced…until you started doubting yourself.

#4 – That makes it unanimous, right?

#5 – Oh, well, now… duh! Why didn’t I think of that? LOL!

#7 – I agree with you.

#9 – Yes, it felt more about his job than worry over her.

#5 - You're right, I'd forgotten about the not-teleporting comment!

@ Susan:

1. I wondered the same! Why the trunk? Obivously Cookie was too distressed to think properly but it sure was funny. And another thing: why not just text her back when she couldn't be found and ask what happened? Why didn't Mim text again instead of leaving a cryptic bathroom stall message???

2. I didn't think Cookie knew Janelle, no.

4. Good point about cop Vaughn and the police academy.

@ Gisela:

#6 - I know! I felt exactly the same. I think she was thinking with her hormones, not her brain for that one!

@ Tracey:

Good to have you on board!

#3 - Good point about how easily Cookie took his gun off him. I don't think he presents any danger to anyone but himself going in like that.... and then OMG! I love your theory, I hadn't put those clues together, will be interesting to see how it pans out!

#4 - LOL!

#6 - Well, when you put it like that, I can see how it might've been emotion, rather than hormones making her react like that...

#8 - "The high school connection seems to coincidental to be coincidence. " Seriously, you're on a role with the theories... loving how you're seeing possibilities everywhere... also makes me think I wasn't reading this with my clever cap on :-)

@ Lisa Kay

"I feel like I’m answering every question with “I don’t know!” LOL! " Don;t worry, me too!

~Megan~ (megadee) Megan's Questions for Chapters 5-7

10. Rey'aziel, the beautiful one...an apt description, no? Do you think knowing his true name will give Charley some extra power over him? There is power in a name, as we've all heard in many stories through the years.

11. Why did Rocket Man try to stuff Charley back out the window, and then abruptly change his mind?

12.
Only one person alive can summon me. I am wondering, like Charley, if she is that person. What are the implications of that? And now that she has his name, could it be an even more powerful thing? What are these extra powers he keeps telling her she has? I am feeling like we will see a little bit of evolution from her in this book.

13. Reyes is trying awful hard to convince Charley that he's cruel and evil. Do you think this is just so she will stop searching for his body? We know he will turn into the ultimate weapon if he dies, according to Rocket's sister, but does Reyes know this? He says it's a lie, but I wonder.

14. So, it seems the whole thing with Mimi goes back to her high school. What in the world could it be that is getting people murdered?

15. Hmm...Cookie and Garrett?? I could get behind that. Cookie needs a good man. Although, he seems to have a small thing for Charley. Or was he just trying to provoke her/Reyes?

16. What do you think of the working theory about Dead Trunk Guy? I somehow think he is attached to Cookie in some way. Maybe not, but why was he sitting in her lap earlier?

17.
If you are the grim reaper, please contact me immediately. Interesting! Do you think Charley will contact them?

Tracey Smith | 415 comments @ Lisa #5 I think "beware the wounded animal" referred to his attack on her because he was in a wounded state, it was kind of like an apology. He realized he'd attacked her because he was injured and confused. Just like an animal could attack when injured. Just my take.

Also he said demons can NOT see her.

Tracey Smith | 415 comments Oh an upon further reflection I think the fake FBI guys were demons

~Megan~ (megadee) OOh Tracey, me likey that theory!!

Tracey Smith | 415 comments @ CaroB #2 Very clever! You could be on to something
#5 completely agree

Tracey Smith | 415 comments Hey CaroB you came up with a theory for the numbers and I was at a total loss on that one so your clever cap must have at least been near by :)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Susan's Answer's to Megan's Questions for Chapters 5-7

10. Rey'aziel, the beautiful one...an apt description, no? Do you think knowing his true name will give Charley some extra power over him? There is power in a name, as we've all heard in many stories through the years. I think it will. He even told her she doesn't know what all she's capable of.

11. Why did Rocket Man try to stuff Charley back out the window, and then abruptly change his mind? I'm not sure about that. It was rather strange. Could Reyes be around there somewhere? Since Rocket Man is so big on rules, maybe he knows there are demons after Charley and they were around??

12. Only one person alive can summon me. I am wondering, like Charley, if she is that person. What are the implications of that? And now that she has his name, could it be an even more powerful thing? What are these extra powers he keeps telling her she has? I am feeling like we will see a little bit of evolution from her in this book. I think she's the one who can summon him. Does that mean she holds more power than Satan? I hope we do get to see Charley change and mature some.

13. Reyes is trying awful hard to convince Charley that he's cruel and evil. Do you think this is just so she will stop searching for his body? We know he will turn into the ultimate weapon if he dies, according to Rocket's sister, but does Reyes know this? He says it's a lie, but I wonder. I think Reyes does know that. But if he has chosen to go against his father, wouldn't it stand to reason that he can choose to not fulfill the prophecy if and when his body dies.

14. So, it seems the whole thing with Mimi goes back to her high school. What in the world could it be that is getting people murdered? I'm clueless about that LOL

15. Hmm...Cookie and Garrett?? I could get behind that. Cookie needs a good man. Although, he seems to have a small thing for Charley. Or was he just trying to provoke her/Reyes? Last book I thought maybe Garrett would be a love interest for Charley so I think he does have a small thing for her. But Garrett and Cookie could work :)

16. What do you think of the working theory about Dead Trunk Guy? I somehow think he is attached to Cookie in some way. Maybe not, but why was he sitting in her lap earlier? Once again, no clue about Dead Trunk Guy. It's like there's too much going on here...Dead Trunk Guy, cop Owen Vaughn, Mimi's disappearance and Mimi's husband getting arrested for other murders that may be linked to Mimi.

17. If you are the grim reaper, please contact me immediately. Interesting! Do you think Charley will contact them? probably LOL

Could it give her the power to order him around?

11. Why did Rocket Man try to stuff Charley back out the window, and then abruptly change his mind?

It seems every time Charley visits him he's trying to kick her out. As to changing his mind, don't know.

12. Only one person alive can summon me. I am wondering, like Charley, if she is that person. What are the implications of that? And now that she has his name, could it be an even more powerful thing? What are these extra powers he keeps telling her she has? Maybe she really is able to exorcise ghosts and demons. I always thought that there had to be more to being the grim reaper, so maybe she will learn something new.

13. Reyes is trying awful hard to convince Charley that he's cruel and evil. Do you think this is just so she will stop searching for his body? We know he will turn into the ultimate weapon if he dies, according to Rocket's sister, but does Reyes know this? He says it's a lie, but I wonder.

I don't understand why is it so impertive to keep him alive, corporeal connections aside, once dead wouldn't he revert to being what he was before being born?

14. So, it seems the whole thing with Mimi goes back to her high school. What in the world could it be that is getting people murdered?

What indeed, especially years after the event.

15. Hmm...Cookie and Garrett?? I could get behind that. Cookie needs a good man. Although, he seems to have a small thing for Charley. Or was he just trying to provoke her/Reyes?

A bit of both.

16. What do you think of the working theory about Dead Trunk Guy? I somehow think he is attached to Cookie in some way. Maybe not, but why was he sitting in her lap earlier?

Where did Cookie buy her car? Could it be that she bought it from the salesman that turned up dead?

17. If you are the grim reaper, please contact me immediately. Interesting! Do you think Charley will contact them?

Probably
