Dolores (dizzydee39) | 2 comments I am a new GR librarian and I am adding books to my shelves that I have. On some books that I have found everything matches except the page number. I understand about not counting the pages in roman numerals or advertisements or future books. I also understand about counting the intro pages and acknowledgements. Does this also include the copywright page? Also a lot of books have a page in the front which lists all of the authors previous books and some of these are a few pages long including descriptions. Would those pages be included? And what about pages where critics reviews are written? I want to be sure before I change anything. Thanks for any info and clarification on this.

Sandra | 31577 comments Generally Dolores you don't count anything before the book starts, so no to the copyright page or critc's guff etc. The object is not to grab each book and count pages.

Look at the end of the book and determine what is the last page of the book, if the author has a bio then add that too. For most books, especially fiction, that's basically it.

The other thing you can check before changing a book's page numbering is whether any other librarian(s) have changed it before. From the edit page, go to the librarian edit log, and then set the filter to only show edits on that edition.

I'd be far more hesitant to change the page number on one that has been edited before than on one that got its info imported from Amazon and then never checked/changed.
